  1. Where is the "nickname at all costs" crowd now? Where are all the conspiracy theories as to why the poll came out the way it did? I would bet Rob Port is blowing his stack right now!

Ha! Funny that you mention that... Here is one of Port's comment's, mind you this is from a guy have never attended a day at UND - yet he says "we" can unofficially be...I think that if funny. http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/poll-56-favor-retiring-fighting-sioux-nickname/

Even if Measure 4 fails, UND reverts back to the law passed during the last legislative session which requires no nickname at all. If that happens, I’d support the legislature making the “no nickname” requirement permanent, so we can unofficially be the Fighting Sioux forever.

  2. Rumblings from the tribe and also from the NCAA. They could change their policy for schools with tribal approval and get rid of all native american names!! Which is precisely why we need to retire the name at UND now. We have no idea what the NCAA will do in the future in regards to native american names. Just add that to the ever growing list of "reasons to vote YES on June 12th."

If the NCAA does this, they could get a lot of push back from Florida State.

  3. It's become my daily comic relief.

Well Heck Rob Port is a big fat know it all, he is all knowing and a self described political genius, I don't know anyone smarter than him... Heck, If he says that the BSC is bluffing he has to be right, and who are we to question this gas bag, and lets not forget that he is the self professed leader of the ND Tea Party as well. I mean how dare we question this clown... I am sure a man of Port's political stature has already polled all of the BSC presidents and gotten a feel for where they are standing on the issue. There is no one smarter than this guy in North Dakota, he is a self professed expert on everything political in ND.

:silly: What a clown. What a gong show... ???:sneaky:

  4. making it easy for people to pump up their friends and exercise vendettas.

That's happening as well right now. I think another good idea would be if you give someone a negative rep you should be able to give them one for a while.... I really don't like this new system at all.

  5. I tried to copy it to the other thread but it was locked. The one I did post in was deleted. Like I said, not trying to start a flame war here, because I have already made myself look stupid enough, but the fact was the thread that didn't have an apology in it, because it was locked and I couldn't post there, is still floating around for everyone to read. The thread that I did apologize in was deleted. So once again, everyone can still see the bashing at me but I don't have the opportunity to apologize for my actions. Seems pretty biased to me.

Maybe next time you should think first before you make a stupid comment like you did on the radio. I think the best think you can do is go back to GPL and or the Penalty Box where you make similar comments like one you made on the radio yesterday. Come on now most of read the message boards and you comment was in character. You're really not fooling anyone.

  6. You do realize that the rest of the regular season plus the 1st round of the playoffs amounts to at least 14, and possibly as many as 17, games... right? I think it's fair to say that could be defined as "excessive" or "unbelievably long". Not quite 20+ games, but very very close. You have essentially already received what you're wishing for here.

How is that excessive? I think it's too light if you ask me and many NHL fans.

  7. Hammy of GPL is reporting that Aaron Ness is leaving. Hes pretty reputable so ill take his word for it.

Hammy is a drama queen and an a self serving attention seeker. Hammy is the same guy that referred to Schlossman as being a lackey for UND hockey.

  8. I'm still an Eidsness fan, but I'm not sure there's much room for improvement in net. This last stretch of games has featured the best goaltending we've seen from the Sioux in several years, IMO.

Aside from the obvious problem of Genoway sucking so bad, the main flaw on the team right now is the power play. I'm pleased they're often able to set it up and generate good chances, but eventually that needs to translate into goals. The numbers weren't great even with Gregoire and Hextall, so their return won't necessarily fix it, but it may help.

Three conference road sweeps in the first half is impressive. The Sioux have not been blowing people away, but solid goaltending has kept them in games when they're not at their best, and strong play from the seniors plus strong third periods have turned close games into wins.

I think there is always room for improvement in all parts of the game. I don't think Chay has sucked.

  9. I didn't think this was a new development

I thought it was already on FCS. It's Monday... maybe I'm losing it.... haha.

I don't think you're losing it, I just think that since it was out of town we may or may not get to see it. :D

  10. Here is the latest Rant from the DD...

I'm more than happy to allow UND fans to support their team for all the same reasons that anyone supports their own home team. However, UND fans in no way limit themselves to that sort of support. They are actively the biggest whiners on the planet. They celebrate Holy Cross's win over Minnesota as if it was a UND championship.

They regularly pummel anyone who writes anything remotely negative about their team. Ask the editors at INCH (write to Jess Myers and ask how much email he got for picking them 7th this year) ... Ask the editors at College Hockey News ... Ask the editors at USCHO and ask ANY blogger on the college hockey internet. One of them last year even threatened me if I ever came to North Dakota.

    My God. :(

Next comment ... someone will point out how great their arena is and what wonderful attendance they have as if that somehow invalidates any of the truth about their state that I've said on this blog. And oh yeah ... if you think this minor dusting up of all things North Dakota is insulting then read what I wrote last year to be truly offended.
  11. This is a highlight of their program so far this year.

UAA RECEIVES VOTES IN POLL: UAA received votes this week in the USCHO.com poll. The USCHO.com poll gave the Seawolves 14 points. Nine of the ten teams in the WCHA are either currently ranked or receiving votes in the nation poll. Michigan Tech failed to receive votes in this week
  12. Wow! I'd say Donald has some built up anger issues.

I wold argue that he has some jealousy issues as well. His latest blog post is a real beaut. At least our team has a history of something other than a second rate door mat.

[Don't allow any of that to fool you into thinking that the Seawolves are in any way the "favorite" this weekend. They're not. It's a rare thing to peg any road team as the favorite in a WCHA series. Statistics or not; the fact is that these two teams are tied in the conference standings. UND is notoriously tough to beat in front of the blood-hungry mob they call fans. They've got all the amenities that gambling profiteer Uncle Ralph could possibly shove into an arena. In the rafters are banners from 7 National Championships that testify to a long and storied excellence in Division 1. But you know what? Banners don't skate. History is the past. The games will be played this Friday and Saturday night and not decided by memories of past accomplishments.
  13. I guess there's no one to blame for Central's behavior but their coach, Bina. As anyone who follows area hockey knows, his teams have been notoriously dirty and it seems that he either seems to not care about or doesn't have enough control over his players to stop it. Its sad to see how far that program has fallen.

Central is a mess right now, I blame no one but the coach. There are a lot of parents not happy with what is going on I can tell you that, there is a constant stream of parent in and out of the athletic directors office. Look for some changes in the spring.

  14. A surprisingly ignorant (well ... perhaps not soooo surprising) comment on my blog has brought me here to ask that a knowledgeable Sioux fan (perhaps Patrick Miller) explain to the Sioux fanbase the exact reasons why UAA will never be replaced by Bemidji (i.e... How UAA's participation in the WCHA creates TENS OF THOUSANDS of Dollars in revenue that those member schools would otherwise not see and in addition how historically UAA saved those member schools money) I'm hoping that hearing the FACTS from a Sioux fan will lead to an acceptance of reality that my explanation likely wouldn't.

PCM? Please? Or perhaps someone else here in touch with reality (sprig; jimdahl)? I bet even Diggler could recite the reality?

I don't think there are a lot of people that have said they are going to kick UAA out of the WCHA.

In fact playing UAA in Alaska allows a team to add another game or two to their schedules. I haven't seen

a lot of Sioux fans saying lets kick UAA out of the league.

  15. Don't forget the occasional wicked hard, everybody get out of the way slapshot (it's a bonus if it's on goal) :D

I was thinking of the one that hit one of our players a couple of series ago, I think it was Finley and he smoked one of the forwards.

    That was a hard shot.

  16. Brian Lee is currently 24th in the AHL in scoring among defencemen and has the lowest plus/minus of any defencemen for the Binghampton Senators so their might be a little bit of draft status playing into his selection.

That really is pretty good. Maybe Brian will get a chance at the NHL this season.

  17. And Daddy "Shep" up in the press box with his arms crossed watching their every move. Hope he gets dizzy and falls over the press box!

Don't forget the note book taking notes with a scowl on your face. ;)

I met that guy before he very cocky and pompus. I am sure that Redwing_77 would agree with that assessment.

  18. That would be like only getting my news from cnn.com or foxnews.com, but not both. Plus I'm wearing like 10 layers of Gopher clothing so my thin skin doesn't get rubbed too raw here.

Thats interesting but I only get my news from Fox News. CNN is too negative and biased. So I wouldn't have a problem with that concept.

    GPL Gopher love feast.
