  1. And mav, if you are a avid bison fan, no way would you rather see the bison play Georgia Southern instead of UND. By saying that you just admitted to not being much of a bison fan.

A UND doesn't do anything for Bison football until 2009. I am not an avid obsessed with the Sioux Bison fan. Playing Georgia Southern in FCS football is like playing the Yankees in baseball.

  2. Home and home or nothing.

UND already said nothing to a home and home offer a few years ago.

A UND game with NDSU doesn't mean as much as in the past. Mainly a game for North Dakota residents. Personally I'd rather drive the 480 miles to see Georgia Southern than see UND. Georgia Southern will be a good team again this year, as their one and done coach is gone. Let UND have a couple years to get their scholarships up, and then play the game.

  3. And people actually wonder why I have such an intense hatred for everything NDSU... ???

As for the game itself, I'm disgusted. I've been a Mason supporter all along, but after this game I have done a complete 180. He needs to be sent packing immediately. This is the worst showing by a Gopher football team since losing to Nebraska 84-0 back in 1983. There is no excuse for a Big 10 team to play a I-AA (any I-AA) and not win by an absolute minimum of 14 points and preferrably more than 20. The Gophers have regressed way more than I thought they would and I doubt they'll win another game all year. Look for Ohio State to give them a severe beatdown next week.

First off, thanks to all the Sioux fans that rooted for NDSU, and have participated in friendly and sometimes heated rivalry over the years. Please ignore the rest of the post to DaveK

    Dave, Dave, Dave

I think 84-0 was your prediction for the game, Minnesota over NDSU.

Minnesota lost to Nebraska 84-13. I feel sorry for you and your hatred.

Time to mellow out and enjoy life. Good Luck.

  4. That is incorrect my friend. The NDSU men's team averaged 2488 and their women's team averaged 1927. That is a total of 4415. The UND men averaged 2279 and UND's women team averaged 2292. That is a total of 4571. It would appear that UND had a larger attendance average to watch their games at home than NDSU. At UND we have a lot of interest in our women's team too. But NDSU did beat Wisconsin in men's basketball though. It seems like I've heard that somewhere before.

Weren't most of UND's games Men's/Women's doubleheaders, 2 for 1 tickets, and NDSU's games were only Men or only Women playing on a specific night. ;)

  5. Mom I only told a 10% lie. You can't follow 90% of something when it says "Do NOT move to Division I without a conference."

NDSU knew it was going to move regardless of what the CARR report said, and it showed. UND was smarter (no surprise there) and saved the money, because they knew they were going to move no matter what a report said. They look nice on paper that's about it.

    ??????;)

  6. BisonMav-I'm not sure why you don't think there could be a championship game. Why not just schedule it for the last day of the regular season? There would be no conflict with playoffs then. The only negative I see in this is that some teams won't have a game that final week, so they will play one less game than others. I don't know, just thinking what could be.

I have seen this discussed on AGS. The A-10 has two divisions and do not have a championship game. Might just be one too many games in a division that has playoffs.

  7. THANK YOU! does ANY school in the Mid-Con make anyone say....I GOTTA SEE THAT GAME!!! not so much...

Oral Roberts would be this year, UMKC, W Illinois or whoever went to the Big Dance the prior year. Baseball and softball will have a home. Big Sky is also a good conference, hopefully the Mid-Con will make an offer.

  8. Not trying to flame here, but looking for information. With the Mid-Con not having football, and the GWFC a little unstable since most of the teams are looking to get into other conferences, wouldn't it be best for both SU's to join the Big Sky if given the opportunity? I mean, they would then have a conference that allowed all of the sports to be in. Also, has anyone given thought to the idea that if UND, USD, and UNO (or possibly one of the MN NCC schools) all go DI, the Big Sky could split into an East-West thing with the two winners playing each other for the overall championship? Because if I'm not mistaken, there are currently 9 teams in the Big Sky, and if you added NDSU, SDSU, UND, USD, and UNO (or other) you would have 14 teams. Split that up into two divisions with the five pre-mentioned and the two Montana schools being in the East and travel would not be an issue. Six guarunteed conference games with the possibility of Seven. Schedule four non-conference and your all set. Sounds good to me! Give Fullerton a call.

Everyone would want to be in Montana's division, they are a sure sellout everywhere. IMO, UNO would be a better fit for the Mid-Con than the Big Sky, but who knows. I just can't see NDSU bolting after being accepted into a conference. Also I doubt the BSC would play a championship game in football. It would cross into the I-AA playoff timeframe. The SWAC already does this, and the skip the playoffs. The Mid-Con could be a longterm home to former NCC schools.

  9. Probably because he is involved in some sort of conspiracy with UND against NDSU, very similair to the whole Potts/Chapman thing.

Why is UND joining the Big Sky considered against NDSU? If NDSU gets in the Mid-Con, they will stay. I see no problem with UND joining the Big Sky with Denver or whoever. Mid-Con or Big Sky, both okay with me.

  10. Sorry I'm late replying to Bison Mav, but I can't let that slap at the Iowa State Cyclones go. If you really think they are playing some sort of inferior role to Iowa you better think again. They have beat the inferior Iowa hawks 6 of the last 8 in football, and are the CY-hawk all sports champions.

Gotta keep you Iowegians on your toes.

  11. I know the SWAC is black schools and I know that Southern and Grambling play a classic in New Orleans on national TV (NBC). I don't see why that should automatically exclude the other 10 teams in the conference. I think the Alabama schools (State and A&M) could do well along with Jackson State.

I agree the Ivy's would compete right away, Harvard has been a top 25 team as has Brown.

The SWAC plays it's championship game the same weekend as the I-AA playoffs. The Grambling/Southern Bayou Classic is a couple weeks prior to that.

  12. I don't see UNO going D1. In Nebraska, Nebraska Lincoln is king and UNO would be the red headed step child of the state, (which it probably already is). UNO would never get anything for football recruits except Nebraska cast offs and would be considered a lesser school in all aspects. They are better of staying DII and being a powerhouse there instead of what they would become as a DI school...

Northern Iowa doesn't seem to have a problem in Iowa where the Hawkeyes are king and Cyclones are the redheaded stepchild. Everyone in Nebraska isn't a Big Red fan, although most are. Best football player ever out of Nebraska went to Kansas.

  13. You're wrong. To abbreviate Division II as DII would be ridiculous. To abbreviate Division I or Division I-AA as DI or DIAA would be equally ridiculous. D1, D-1A, D-1AA, and D2 are all proper abbreviations, as used in each of the following links:

Should we discuss the proper way to spell the UND nickname?

The proper spelling is of course what the official institution perfers.

  14. If you're writing out the full word "Division" it should be followed with I-AA as you suggested. However, if you're using just the letter D as an abbreviation it should be followed with -1AA. Same goes for D-2 and D-1A. That's why we have websites called D2football.com and D1Afootball.com.

You need to spend some time with my buddy Ralph from I-AA.org.???
