  1. I am happy with the schedule...given the first year at D1AA, it will be a lot of fun and finally I will have some games I can easily attend (Weber and UNC). Montana Tech is just a filler for the first year. It won't be much of a game, but then again this is the first year in D1AA and I find the schedule much better than I anticipated. Good job by Taylor!

  2. It was interesting reading in the Forum today that Kolpack is getting a very different read from the BSC that is Hallstrom. In the long run, the BSC is the best fit for NDSU, but there are some things that need to happen first. Since NDSU is provisional (or what ever the technical term is) for the next 5 years, it will significantly detract from our ability to attract a conference. After that I think it will be not that difficult to get BSC affiliation. No one thought this would be easy, and the fact that St. Mary's left the GWC is no big deal. The core of the conference is made up of teams that would challenge for the NCC title every year (if not win). It is very much a step above NCC ball.

  3. The question then becomes, How much loyalty do you have to the team that was probably who you rooted for as a kid vs. how much money can I make. In the NFL I think that money wins (if he goes free agent). I hope not though. It is good to see him on the Vikes.

  4. To add to what Jim said....I was teasing you guys with my comment (that is why I had a smile face at the end of it!)

GVSU is obviously a great rival for the Sioux given the playoff games recently. I remember when we(NDSU) had a hot rivalry going with Davis that all started with playoffs as well. Back in the 80's I would have never imagined that rivalry in the playoffs would eventually move us towards being in the same conference as Davis. Who knows, on down the road the Sioux could wind up in the same conference as GVSU...that would really heat the whole thing up to a new level.

  5. Goofy as it sounds the loophole does exist. I have not heard any talk on the other boards about closing it....although most rational people think it is insane. Two years ago when Wyoming traveled to TN and played Tennesee in Nashville, it counted as a home game for Wyoming.....go figure that one out. That is worse that the Idaho deal.

  6. If Idaho gets pushed back to D1AA they will go kicking and screaming. They are kind of in the same boat that Wyoming is as far as meeting the attendance criteria goes. From what I have read on some of the other boards, Idaho gets to count a game against Washington State at Pullman (only like 7 miles from Moscow) as a home game. It is estimated that the attendance at this game will be over 35,000. that probably will help the Vandals stay above the attendance threshold. I don't think they will force them down. Strange rules that let you count an away game as home attendance.......

  7. What I have heard is that the rules for the new FB conference require a one year notice to leave the conference. If NDSU were to get an invite from the BSC I would suspect we would bolt, however, once the other sports find conference homes I suspect that urge to bolt would be reduced......My bias is I would like them in the BSC....more games I could drive to.

Also....I would suspect Davis will be pretty tough next year as will UNC, Cal Poly and NDSU.....should be an interesting first year...

  8. Obviously the reason I posted it on here is I know more than a few UND fans have an interest in what happend to the Bison over the next few years. For me....I am excited about the conference as it assures I will have a football game every year that is within reasonable driving distance for me....I would think the FB conference relationships will also translate into scheduling for other sports as well (the wrestling conference may also help out in that way).

  9. The bottom line is those of us that are NDSU supporters and those of us that kick in the Alumni dollars are very firmly behind the move up. If that is what caused UND to kill the rivalry (the move up), then big deal. In a couple years from now, I bet that no one on either side cares. As the students graduate that have never seen a Bison/Sioux game, the rivalry will fade into history.

  10. There probably is not as much talent at the HS level in ND because there are so many fewer students than 10 or 15 years ago. Rural enrollment is in a tailspin as are the numbers of young people in North Dakota. Same thing is happening here in Wyoming. Fewer kids.....smaller talent pool.

  11. My first quarter at NDSU I paid $212 tuition (back in 1979). I think that included fulltime tuition, but not the activity fee. ND does not support the academic side of higher ed. the way it deserves to be supported. UND and NDSU are always coming out on the short end of the stick when compared with peer institutions. It is too bad.

  12. Husky...you are lame. Give it up. If anyone gave a s&!t about St. Cloud you might be worth listening to. This is a Bison/Sioux discussion.

If the WBB team did act like that I don't think that any of us would support it. Both the Men and the Women for the Bison and Sioux played tough games this past weekend and should be congratulated. Smack is one thing (as it is usually between fans) poor sportmanship is another.

  13. It is interesting to see that Montana does very well in D1AA with a significant number of Montana recruits. I do think that High School football is stronger in MT than in ND, but I do think that there will be a number of ND kids that can play D1AA ball.
