Fighting Sioux Hockey

I don't have a problem with assigned seats at all. If thats what needs to happen to keep a bunch of idiots from standing thats fine but what i do have a problem with is people who go to the game to socialize or show up at 7:00 because it is too cold getting better seats than me when I waited for my good seats thats all I want it a reasonable way to assign the seats. I can guarantee the regular public would be mad if REA said "You know what even though you gave $10000 just to get the opportunity to buy those seats we are going to put every seat in a lottery and thats how you guys will sit." It isn't a great example but it gives some people the idea of whats going on.

I am wondering if anybody knows what exactly is going on with the student tickets in the lower bowl. I know they are going to be assigned but i am wondering how are they going to be assigned? I have heard that everybody is going to go into a lottery and that is how they are going to be placed but what about being able to sit with your friends? I also understood that it is going to be all students put into this lottery so me who was at every game last year at 4:30 or 5 could possibly get worse seats than a fan who went to everyother game and sat in the upper deck. If this is the case I think this is the stupidest idea REA has thought of. I expect to get seats near where I sat last year. I don't think it is too much to ask. I was usually in the first 8-10 rows and recognized the people that were there early every game. There are alot of die hard Sioux fans out there and we better not get screwed over by REA. If anybody can tell me more I would appreciate it.

I agree with mksioux the students would be satisfied with the equal number of seats in the lower bowl and it would be an even greater plus if the students got to sit in the opposite corner where we shoot twice. And as he points out i am willing to bet anybody who went to the games over christmas would say they lacked the environment. Could this be because the students weren't there? I think so, the rest of the arena has a right to see the game and the students have the right to stand. So why not make an equal comprimise? Not a comprimise with money involved.

Well Teamsioux I would have to say the students cheering 10% of the time helps the team alot more than the rest of the arenas sitting. Ask any of the players I guarantee they like the students cheering. Blais has said it himself. Oh yeah one last thing when was the last time anybody other than a student started a chant that got the whole crowd going?

The bottom line is REA is going to do whatever they want to make more money and UND isn't going to do a thing about it because they are after the $. They are not there to please the students. This is no longer the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux it is the Grand Forks Fighting Sioux. But remember there would be no hockey team if there were no students.

Looking at who we have for goalies and who is coming in the next few years I wonder what Blais is going to do next year as far as goalies. We also have Layne Sedevie GAA 2.620 SV% .896 who has commited for this next year but I have not heard any news on his neck injury so i don't know if he is coming. Nate Ziegelmann GAA 2.583 SV% .908 is supposedly coming from the USHL too for this season. In 2 years Phillip Lamoureux GAA 2.165 SV% .917 is supposed to come. So what is Blais going to do? I have listed our goalies and their grade level for NEXT YEAR and their stats. Jake Brandt -Junior GAA 2.40 SV% .895 Marc Ranfranz-Senior GAA 2.35 SV% .893 Josh Siembida-Junior GAA 3.16 SV% .853 Ryan Sofie-Junior GAA none SV% 1.000 I think Jake should stay, bring in Ziegelmann and Sedevie and let Siembida and Ranfranz fight for the 4th spot. But if Sedevie doesn't come I see Jake, Marc and Josh staying. Either way I see Blais getting rid of Sofie. It would be nice to let him stay but he just doesn't have the talent. What do you think?

I am looking for good quality tapes of the hockey games this weekend. I am looking for Saturdays games and sundays game especially. So does anybody know for sure if the hockey game will be on friday night in South Dakota. On Fightingsioux.com they say it is a local broadcast only. Any feedback would be great or if anybody knows how to contact midcontinent i would appreciate it. Thanks.
