  1. I've lived in Grand Forks all my life and am moving to East Side. I plan to continue to hunt in North Dakota till the day I die, but wow, the regulations are harsh. Deer tags I can understand but as far as small game and bird hunting in general, wow. You pay $85 dollars for either a 14 day period or two seven day periods. What the hell is up with that? Not even an option to hunt the whole year without paying out of my ass... I guess besides any comments like, well its your fault you moved, I'm wondering what other people have payed nonresident fees and what they think about this or what they have done to continue to hunt in North Dakota. I almost feel since it is Grand Forks/ East Grand forks there should be some sort of conjoining laws or discounts since we are on the border. If I live in Minneapolis then of course thats different (maybe?) but being our location and cities are basically together, shouldn't the regulations be a little less harsh? I guess Im looking for a legit conversation on the matter. Thanks for whoever posts. :)

  2. Oh yeah, that is why the family is morally outraged and is rambling on about how they will shut it down unless UND keeps that nickname at all costs and keeps every single Fighting Sioux logo in that arena.

    Oh, wait.

    THEY AREN'T!

There isn't a chance that it will happen either. Somehow, I believe that his family knows what he would have wished much more than you do.

where have ya been? You think they are going to gut the place? haha. Anything that requires more than paint isn't getting touched. You can keep on playing there and keep the logos you know....

  3. If there was a problem, the Engelstad family would have made it perfectly clear by now.

I have no doubt that Ralph would have seen that it was for the good of the University and it had to be done.

You forget that he purposely put thousands of symbols in the Ralph for a reason right? I would love to actually know what his reaction would be right now, and it makes me sick that we will never know. One thing we do know is that he'd never take a Sioux head down, ever. Maybe center ice, but that is all I could see.

  4. Okay I'm no expert but I've heard as many rumours, old wive's tales and stories to last a lifetime. The way I've read it and understand it - anything that is of historical significance does not have to change including banners. The Ralph will not be closing, the Ralph will not be jackhammering any logos out of the structure. But for example if a piece of carpet wears out in the Ralph with the Sioux logo on it, it will be replaced with carpet that does not have the logo on it. UND fans can wear Sioux logoed clothes to games for as long as they want. It will probably take at least a decade for the fans to move away from shouting "Home of the Sioux" at home games - if ever. I know I won't be replacing my Sioux Pride tailgating van and I will also be using it on site for years to come. It's a historic archive now!

Thankfully we will be able to see the logo forever, at least when attending the hockey games. I have enough gear to last a lifetime, and probably will wear it more times than not, as most will. It will slowly fade out over time, but it'll never fade completely. Maybe 30 years from now, maybe. You can't even compare it to the old North Stars gear, which you can still see anywhere you go, so the Sioux symbol really isn't going anywhere.
  5. Ralph Engelstad stated that he was a successful businessman because of his experience at UND, because of the education he got at UND, because of the BUSINESS DEGREE he got at UND. He appreciated the hockey team because playing hockey is what gave him the chance to go to college. He wanted to support the hockey team AND THE REST OF THE UNIVERSITY. And he appreciated the entire Grand Forks area because that is where he had his first success in business. When he announced the building he said that he wanted to build the building to support the hockey program, the University and the entire Grand Forks region. The hockey team isn't going any where. They will continue to play at REA. Because that is what Ralph wanted. Only the very simple minded would really believe that UND shouldn't be playing at REA in the future.

The hockey team isn't going anywhere, thank god. At least when I walk around the place, other than looking at center ice, I'll still see thousands of Sioux symbols everywhere.
  6. You people are retarded. Seriously. I won't even argue. Anyways, thanks for a great year Fighting Sioux! I cannot wait for next year. Get healthy! Freshman, take the year and work off of it, you did great. Please nobody take the next step, stay and play another year. We accomplished a lot for what you had to work around/with. Anyone who is dissing here probably jersey pops and we don't like them type of people anyways. Seriously people, don't shake your jersey! Till next year, GO SIOUX!
