I looked at it again, it looks like it is the same with UND. I get this idea from the language "and shall not but further assigned, released, abandoned, exercised, or otherwise used, except as expressly permitted herein, in connection with UND's Athletic Department." but this takes into effect only if we change our name, which is NOT something we HAVE to do if my analysis is right.

Ok I read more of the policy UND also keeps the trademarks rights to the Sioux logo and such but I don't know how to read it correctly, does it mean we can still license to Nike and the such to make money for the Athletic Department? Also the agreement says that if there is a change of policy or a new policy UND can challenge that how ever they feel like doing so, so that right is still with us... thank goodness. Edit for correction to trademarks.

OK, I will use my skills as a first year law student to look at the issue that I think is bugging everyone on the board, that is the change of the nickname. I find the language a little fuzzy but I think there might be some hope for fans of the name. I overall thought the settlement was a good one except for the fact that we would give up our name, but I thought that was a little particular because why would we give up more then what we had to under the Policy. But I think the settlement still allows UND to keep the name if we don

They did bring them in and that is probably why the power went out twice, but I was at the game and Boston was HUMID and I don't think any amount of dehumidifiers would have helped once the fans enter and let all the humidity back in and raise the temperature of the arena significantly.

I am very excited for Boston next weekend, I got my tickets there and tickets to the game! Go Sioux!

Probably because the Alerus is a big tin shed and the Ralph is very noise absorbent to an extent, the upper deck noise especially can be absorbed very well by the design and the materials used.

I wouldn't expect a huge walk up crowd for the game. Frankly those seats I feel are some of the worst in the Al, unlike most football stadiums the seats are facing directly forward (almost all football stadium's seats have a concave approach to them, angling them towards midfield) so you only get a good view of midfield to goal and the opposite side is hard to see. But I would expect 9-10K for this game, pretty standard for this time of year, so the seats that are available will be the last to go.

Is anyone else surprised not to see more CSTV and ESPNU games on this list? Or are these networks more likely to tag on games closer to game day?

I found a couple of interesting articles from the Argus Leader about USD taking some time in Norman, OK before their first game with West Texas A&M http://www.argusleader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...301/1002/SPORTS http://www.argusleader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...016/1002/SPORTS Could this little side trip be the start of a relationship between USD and Oklahoma? Where would you like UND go to play "the big payout game?" If we are talking about BCS schools I would like UND to look south and west to Big 12 and Pac 10 schools. I think Arizona State or Arizona would be perfect for UND football, Arizona has huge amounts of UND grads that would help generate interest in the game. I also like the prospects of possibly playing Big 12 North Division teams (Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska, etc.) If it is a non-BCS school I would like to play teams in the Mountain West Conference (Utah, San Diego State, UNLV would be my top choices). All I know is that I DO NOT want to put our eggs in the "we both play DI hockey, so let

I figured my two cents was too late, but I thought I would give it anyway; discourse can usually be a good thing. I would love to help, but alas first year of law school out of state takes up a good portion of my time. I do wish you the best of luck sir and may the GREEN OUT be a huge success. Go Fighting Sioux!
-
I agree that we should do a White Out and not a Green out. White is a good color because it does several things, first it is a bright color that is easy to recognize, green is less of a noticeable color and will make the arena look dark and drab rather then bright and intimidating. Second there are so many shades of green where white is well white, so unless someone is willing to put up the big bucks to give everyone a tshirt its not going to look as cool.

The campaign is ok, but I will admit I liked what they did with the Force of the North campaign last year was much better.

Actually it looks like they are saving those tickets for the Holiday Package thing they have going on. After looking for tickets they had section 109 available (student lower bowl section) for that package. So hopefully they will try and promote that package for a month or so then release them for single game, its just to bad it looks like the students will lose out on three series this year in there season ticket package (UMD, UNH, SCSU).
-
Have they released the student tickets for the New Hampshire series over x-mas break to the general public?? I am looking for a few tickets to the Saturday game but the only thing that comes up is stuff in section 301.

First of all the Sioux Hockey program is not as well funded as you think it may be, there are other teams in our league who are much better funded, then again there are teams who are not as well funded. Secondly advertising dollars is what keeps the games on the air and the last time I checked FSSN didn

This past weekend I have been casually watching the Super Regionals of NCAA Baseball and with UND entering Division I in a couple of years it has me thinking about the future of UND Baseball. The first question I pose is whether or not UND will ever be able to put together a competitive team? I am not talking about one that even makes it to Omaha, but one that can make it to the NCAA Tournament from time to time. As we all know UND is geographically disadvantaged when it comes to baseball because of our long winters and more importantly the unpredictable nature of Spring. It takes year round training to produce results you want and taking BP and running drills in the Field house is not the best way to prepare of a season. Also having to play exclusively away games in March and judging from this past year

The BCS is exempt because the BCS is a private organization not affiliated with the NCAA.

On a related note I saw a Division II Elite Eight Men

While the Ralph is a great place, I honestly don't know if it is worth a 5 hour drive each way just to see it. If you are able to get to a game then it might be more worth it, but even then I think you have to be a fan of college hockey to make that commitment of time and even more importantly $$$$. If the tournament was in Grand Forks or even Fargo or if you were driving from Manitoba or other western Canadian provinces I would say go for it, but anywhere else give the moms some malls to go to and I think you will have a much happier group of hockey parents. In the mean time show them some pictures of the place, they will get the idea.
-
I think it is because he is drawing up battle plans and cool marketing slogans for our run at #8 in '08, then again all that glass in the Ralph needs a good cleaning.

The turf at The Al would be cheap, it is painted (or at least that is what I hear), everything else would be very expensive. Now here is to hope they will get some FieldTurf soon. Back on topic, it will be interesting on how the $$ issues work themselves out. I just hope we don't put all of our eggs in one basket (ala hoping a victory will pay off associated costs).

The better team won the game, plain and simple.

Better then that dasher cam they had in Ohio, but I hate it too.
