  1. I also heard from a pretty reliable source that he was dissmissed from the team sometime before the Final Five.
  2. What are you trying to prove by stating, "where is Paul Murphy now"? He won Mr. hockey, played in the USHL and then played for a quality program in UND. I dont understand what you are getting at. Im sure anybody in high school hockey would be more than satisfied to have made it as far as Paul Murphy did.
  3. If you are saying that the RR team next year will not have the ability to put up an undefeated record, I think you are sadly mistaken. This team will be one of the best teams ever in North Dakota high school hockey...mark my words!
  4. Lives-to-play...you are the one here who is ridiculous. You say that you attended Red River and played for the hocky team during the 2005-06 season, but I quite frankly,do not believe you. If you are going to be the voice of reason on this forum, somthing is wrong. Do me a favor and prove to me that you played for Red River during the 05-06 season and we'll see how credible you actually are.
  5. I will most definitely take you ideas with a grain of salt. After recently spending four years at Red River, the best four years of my life might I add, I think most of your statements are very untrue. As in any high school, you are going to have your kids that have attitudes, but you are sadly mistaken to say that the kids with the attitude problems and ego problems are those of a higher income level. from my experiences, the kids that frequently pick on others, and walk around as though they own the school are those from a lower incomes class. Throughout my whole high school career there were maybe 5 fights that happened during school hours, none of them including anybody from what would be concidered an upperclass family. As far as you hearing from teachers that RR is a "less than pleasant environment," I would like to know which teachers you are talking about. From my experiences, with the exception of a few "bad apples," students treated teachers and their fellow students with respect. The halls of Red River were not a scary place to be, and I think almost everybody that has attended school there recently can back me up on that. I am not in a position to say very much regarding Central, but I have heard of several more attitude problems and bullying that occur there. Please don't be so quick to attack the "upper class" Red River kids next time.
  6. I do not play with him. I have heard from pretty reliable sources though.
  7. Galbreath is fine...he will be playing at state
  8. I dont recall anybody ever saying Grafton doesnt have a chance against Red River. Anybody that knows anything about high school hockey knows it will be a good game.
  9. Red River beat Warroad 2-1...from what i heard it was a pretty good game. Jake Waind and Matt Erickson with the goals for the Riders.
  10. First off, for being such a high school hockey guru you have forgot to mention a few things. Besides Irmen, Potulny and Ziegelmann playing D1hockey, Mike Eickman (Nebraska-Omaha) and Nick Kresbach (Wayne State) also went on to play at that level. Another former RR player from around the same time period, Scott Howe, played a couple years at the Air Force Academy, however im not sure on the years. Im not saying that we will undoubtably see Galbreath, Ladeuceur, Meland and Arnason in D1 hockey someday. I am simply stating that it is possible. Another thing to remember is that there are other less established D1 programs out there, maybe these guys will not be good enough to play for a top notch program like UND or Minnesota, but I believe there are programs out there where they could fit in.
  11. I do not think Wilburs list of players to recruit is a joke. Meland, Ladeuceur, Galbreath and Arnason are all very likey D1 prospects after a year or two of juniors. As for Crary, its a little early to tell, but he has great speed and skill, and he plays a great physical game.
  12. I just recieved word that Red River is beating Minot 5-0 towards the end of the second period
  13. I also see Red River winning by a few goals, so I'll say 5-2 in that game. However, I think that south is going to get on the right track tonight with a 4-2 victory over grafton.
  14. If you infact have watched six of their games that should be enough for you to realize they do have players on the team besides Wurden who have skill, they just dont know how to play as a team which in turn makes them look worse. Players such as Doeden, McDougall, Graalum and Powers all have a good amount of skill...more than the mojority of the players in the state.
  15. This Herbel kid is the real deal!!!!!! UNDHockey22 your comments make me realize you know nothing about HS hockey in the state of ND. Name me one player who in playing HS hockey beening recruited by an D-1 school right now. UND22 I willing to place a little wager he will be in jr. hockey before any forward you can come with. He quick, great footwork and the best shot in the state. If he was out east you would claim him a the next great thing. I wish you had a chance to watch this kid skate.
  16. Haha, for you to say "if GPR had better quality shots I think they would have come out with a win," is a bit of a hypothetical statement. I could say that if Red River would have had better quality shots they would have won by atleast 3, or even, if Red River would have scored on a couple more of their good chances this game wouldnt have been as close. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that GPR will be the ones fearing RR the next time they play. They will be coming into Purpur arena, playing a team they have already lost to. And the fact that they have not been able to beat RR in a while will be in the back of their heads as well. As for the RR vs. Fargo South game, I could see it going either way. Im going to go with a 3-3 tie in tomorrows game, should be a good one.
  17. I would say that Red River was lucky to get out of Grafton with a win. Red River took it to Grafton in the first period but it was downhill from there. My personal opinion was that Grafton is a very fast team and RR was not used to their speed. RR played probably their sloppiest game of the year all the way down the roster. The only person that stood out to me today was Rider defensman Jake Waind. Waind is often overlooked playing on the same team as Galbreath and Ladouceur, but he has been solid for the riders all year. He looked to me like the best defensman on the ice tonight and also chipped in with two assists. Both goalies played well for the most part but both also let in a soft goal. The Riders should have another stiff test going to Fargo South on Tuesday.
  18. this is such a ridiculous arguement. Both sides should just stop. Only time will tell which player is better by who goes further with their hockey career. At the present time I like the situation Eric Meland is in. Playing with a couple of the top defensemen in the state, one of the top goalies in the state and a good group of young forwards, he could have the ability to showcase his talents the rest of this year and next year on what would be the top team in the state if all players return.
  19. I think what he ment is that he sees RR losing their next two games, first to Grafton, and then to Fargo South. I however, have to disagree with him, I see Red River continuing with their winning ways. The last few Red River games I have seen which were agaisnt middle of the pack EDC teams, Red River has yet to give up more than 1 or two quality scoring chances in each game. The chances that they do give up, Arnason has been there to shut the door. With the combination of great Defense, arguable the top line in the state (including the best forward in the state), and a very solid goalie in Pat Arnason, I dont see Red River losing to Grafton or Fargo South at this time. Both of these games should be fast paced, fun games to watch, but I see RR coming out on top. On a side note, I think the most improved player in the state so far this year would have to go to Pat Arnason. Maybe its just because he wasnt given much of a chance last year, but from what I have seen he is the best goalie in the state. He seems much more athletic this year and is always in position to make the save. He seems to be one of those goalies that makes every save look routine. The fact that he is 6'3" doesnt hurt either. I wouldnt be surprised to see junior teams after him following the season.
  20. I was at the Red River vs. Central game and must say, its pretty much what I expected. First off, the ceremony honoring Jason Stadstad before the game was very nicely put together. As for the game, Red River dominated in every aspect. Meland was spectacular again with 3 assists, as was Russel Crary with 2 shorthanded goals. Red Rivers defense continues to impress limiting Central to under 20 shots. The only defensive breakdown I remember resulted in Centrals only goal. Pat Arnason also played another great game in goal, he is a very confident goalie that rarely puts himself in a position where he needs to make a big save. I look forward to RR's next two games against GPR and FS.
  21. I dont think they are having one this year...But in the past I think they have asked former Red River players that are still playing hockey at a higher level or else former Riders that went on to play college or professional and have since hung up the skates.
  22. I heard that RR's Adam Crary will not be playing in todays game due to an injury. This has caused Red River to have to juggle all of their lines around, which could cause some problems. Despite this, I still see Red River winning the game by a score of 4-1. I expect Central to come out very motivated after what should be an emotional retiring of Jason Stadstads jersey #19. All in all it should be a great night of high school hockey in Grand Forks.
  23. I heard you are wrong...at the game they said he had 14 saves...i would say he had more like 10-12...
