  1. It would be nice for most of those games to feature NCHC teams until the conferences begins playing each other. The Big 10 teams have thier own network to be on and we can watch enough HE games on CBS College Sports.

This talk of the NCHC/VS tv deal does make me wonder what is going to happen with the FSSN and being able to watch hockey games on tv. Right now, we get to watch all the home games. I just hope that something doesn't happen that will mean less Sioux games on TV...

  2. The coaching adjustment that I would like to see is that the Sioux not come out in thier first game in the regional flat and lose, same thing in the Frozen Four especially if they play BC? How many years in a row now have they come out flat and lost? At least five, I think. Why is it so hard for every game in the NCAA tourney? It has been so endlessly frustrating!

  3. I believe UMD is going to come out with a vengeance in this regional bracket because they have something to prove! Union and (likely) Yale aren't going to know what is going to hit them! I am looking forward to a UMD/Yale game! I bet that is going to be a shootout!

  4. Why do people keep suggestion that Alaska join the WCHA? I think this is a terrible idea. How expensive is it to go to Alaska for one weekend alone? Just think about the costs for going twice! Also, schools get the bonus of playing and extra two games a season if they go to Alaskan schools to play, maybe the CCHA teams will want to keep this as an option.

  5. I don't see why there is any interest in leaving the WCHA behind. It still has a tremendous history throughout college hockey. North Dakota and Denver are the top tier schools that have a lot of history and more National Championships then any other school except Michigan. The level of competitiveness is still there, too. Plus, the costs of travel are less playing all the four MN schools in the conference.

The only change in the WCHA will hopefully be MTU switching to the CCHA because it's travel costs would likely be significantly reduced there and they might have a chance at being more successful.

  6. Maybe MT will switch to the CCHA and the WCHA will stick to a nine team conference. Which is easier to do schedules for, nine or ten teams? I'd like to see it back to where UND plays each team at home and on the road every year again.

  7. Feelin' bad for Denver - why no WCHA team in the northeast region? If there are no home ice regions in the NCAA's, why does New Hampshire play in their backyard?

NH is the host school for the regional. Host schools always get put in thier bracket that they are hosting.

Maybe the Sioux should host regionals at the X?

  8. Odd that Denver and ND are in the same region. I wonder if some were trying to ensure that another WCHA-only tournament doesn't occur by putting Merrimack in the Northeast instead of Denver? Swapping Merrimack and Denver would also bring the Northeast regional from two Hockey East teams to one...

It is a conspiracy against UND by the NCAA to punish the school for being hostile and abusive. They put a school the is UND'splayoff bane in the same bracket. That's why BC is likely to be our match up in the FF, too... ???

  9. Makes sense if you want to ensure that someone gets an invite to the national tournament.

Personally, I think this might make it harder for these schools to get into the NCAAs each year. While one gets in automatically each year, the rest are going to be beating each other up too much and possibly hurting themselves too much to get into the NCAAs. Though maybe the WCHA and CCHA are getting too tough for the big schools to compete in now...

  10. Maybe a high profile Big Ten Hockey Conference will bring more exposure to college hockey and bring in more fans. There is a lot of negative feelings about this and while most of those are likely justified, I think it's time to start seeing the positives in this.

  11. While it means little for positioning in the NCAA, I think this game is an important warm up game for the NCAAs. Denver is a skilled team that will challenge the Sioux and they need to be challenged so they can maintain focus and not get upset in the NCAA regionals again...

  12. I'm hoping that we can get some help in the advertising market.

I'm rather tired of the same commercials every time... Rydell (and that humiliating idiocy they put their salespeople through), Dahlstrom Motors, American Tire, gosh... I'm repressing a few of them.

The commercials are just old and lame.

I would think it wouldn't be hard to sell commercial time during Sioux hockey games since they are on all through ND, parts of MN, and on FCS. That's a lot of viewers to advertise to. Maybe WDAZ should make it happen...

  13. I'm surprised by this since they are so competitive in those sports but I guess the school needed to make those changes. Maybe UNO should look at adding Women's hockey and maybe that would let them save the wrestling program?
