  1. I have met both of the Sheppards and of the two the son is the more pompous of the two. You could at least have a conversation with Greg Sheppard.

A few years back it was monday morning after the Sioux had taken three games to beat the Mavericks when Derrick came into GFK international airport and one of the first thing he did was complain about how he had to spend an extra night in this crappy town and it was the Sioux's fault. I told him maybe if the ref had done a better job we wouldn't have had to stay an extra day. :) There wasn't much of a response other than the Sioux had many chances to win the game in question.

I'd hate to see Derrick unhappy. Perhaps there might be some arrangements made so he doesn't have to come back to GF again?

  2. I was finally able to get sound for the Gopher post game interviews. You could tell how painful it had to be for the two Gopher players to be there and answer some tough questions. This is a team that lost, what.. one league game the first half of the year? There had to be some small feeling of destiny for them that evaporated tonight.

It could very easily have been the Sioux in their position. These are two of the premier programs in all of college hockey and Goligoski and Vanelli represented their program with class and dignity. My hat's off to them. It's too easy to forget how young these guys are - they showed me a lot.

I also have to say.. I'm not a big Lucia fanr, but he's one hell of a coach, and he showed nothing but class last night after a devastating loss.

On that note,, Go Sioux.. bring home number 8!

  3. Most excellent PCM!!

I've never been able to reconcile the NCAA's condemnation of the Sioux nickname for being hostile and abusive with their willingness to collect the $$$ for the sale of the merchandise branded with the Sioux logo. Apparently they're quite comfortable with the hypocrisy.
