  1. Iowa and Iowa State draw better for those games than Army, Kent State, SDSU ect....Because of the In-State rivalary

Yes, UNI gets paid, but I'm sure they could get more going to Michigan, Minnesota, ect....Just a guess...?

I know in BBAll Mac told me that they have a Home and Away agreement signed with UNI (both schools UI & ISU), for alternating home and Away games every year with UNI for like the next 10 years......Mac and Rick Hartzel worked on that and set it in motion before he left...

  2. Fairly sure Indiana State is better than Sioux Falls and not to mention a 35 - 10 loss to Southern Utah.....wow.... I think we should be careful with the words "Historically bad"........ and one more thing winning the Great West(its a glorified D2 league) isn't that impressive, when you can compete in the MVC then feel free to talk smack anytime...

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the only Ring (bought your own I believe) the NDSU Bison have been wearing for the last 20 years....?

  3. Yes, Mesa did make the playoffs that year. But if you put USF in the RMAC, they would be in the D-II playoffs every year as well.

I looked it up. At the time that Mesa beat UND, Mesa was coming off a 5-6 season and had lost its season opener the previous week 42-16 to Central Oklahoma. At the time it happened, this was a much worse loss.

Let's face it, it's USF's NAIA label that no one can get past. ;)

This guy does this stuff for a living, maybe we should listen to him.... :D Good Posts

  4. I didn't mean to infer the defense was the only reason and you are completely correct in saying it was a team loss. I figured JK was calling the defense as the defense has been lacking the qualities and traits that it had when we turned the corner in the mid 90's and won a national championship with. In my mind, if MM was calling the shots, USF would not have scored 28, we would have created some turnovers, sacks, etc. And adjustments would have been made between series and halftime......

They are both good Coaches and personal friends, I will not choose between the two of them on a message board, besides It's not my place, Coach Mussman gets that fun job. The team on Saturday for some reason lacked fire and heart on both sides of the footbal and special teams, hopefully is was just a bad day at work.

Both the 4-3 and 3-4 take talented kids to run, some on here have said it's harder to find the Athletic DL or DE that is why the 3-4 is better, It was also hard to find guys like Challahan, Blue, Dixon, Brennan, Enger, Halvorson, but this same group of Coaches found them and we won, my bet is we will again....

  5. JK does, and (imo) he is more comfortable running a traditional 4-3 Defense. MM style I believe is more of a gambling blitz from all angles, take chances. MM played in that style under Lennon with Bubba. Not saying either is right or wrong, but we seem to have a 4-3 scheme at times with 3-4 personel and visa versa.

You all know my thoughts is that I think we should just have 1 DC, I do not like Co-Coordinators, especially with different attacks and approaches.

This is not the reason we lost the game on Saturday, it was a complete team effort, Offense, Defense, Special Teams, Coaches, and we could always use some more fans....

  6. That exactly is that supposed to mean? I pointed out something abundantly obvious. He is the head coach and can make the decision on whether he wants one or two defensive coordinators. He does not need to maintain two defensive coordinators just because Lennon did it that way. I have no idea how you interpreted that as me being a tough guy. :D

Their are expectations that come with every position. The last four years none of those expectations have been met. If a player is underperforming he should be replaced and the same thing should be done if a coach is underperforming. If we want to get where we want to be we can't tolerate underperformance and losing in this program.

I'm saying if you want to tell someone how to do their job, or call for them to be replaced, maybe you should do it face to face instead of on some message board.

  7. Mussman is not stuck with anything. He is the HEAD COACH for crying out loud. If he didn't want co-defensive coordinators, there wouldn't be co-defensive coordinators.

UND should fire both Mannaussau and Kelling and then bring in a new defensive coordinator who can run the system of his choosing whether it is a 3-4 or a 4-3. The personnell we have currently is a non-factor as I expect true freshmen and redshirt freshmen playing at most positions next year since the talent level of a lot of our upper classmen isn't even close to the Division I level.

Lots of internet message board tough guys on here, you guys know where the Football offices are located.....?

  8. I've read your stuff, we shoud've stayed D-2 I get it.

    You obivously can not read...?

I said we had a bad day, everyone does. The sky is not falling, we are in the early stages or transitioning to a higher level of Football the FCS. UND will be very good in the FCS, but it is no going to happen instantly, it takes time. I have faith in UND the history of their program, the Coaches on staff and the players they are recruiting. Today we lost to a very good team (we played poorly) this team has won 48 of their last 49 games...

Did I type slowly enough for you....?

  9. Losing to an NAIA school (even a very good one) is not a bad day, it's INEXCUSABLE. UND needs to bring in a coaching staff that can recruit outside of ND and MN. Until UND can do that, it can forget being a real player in FCS.

We are not a real player in the FCS (yet), that why it is called transitioning.

  10. Just to clarify the co-defensive coordinator idea was Dale Lennon's...

Roger never srewed the program, his lack of success for the program was directly tied to the brand new REA...short memories Roger was AD in 2000 National Champ team...

  11. Make no mistake, that was/is a very good Sioux Falls team.

Totally agree you do not win 21 in a row....? and not be a well Coached, talented group of men. They also had a 27 game wining streak a couple years back...

    Hats off to USF.....

  12. You have to hand it to the kid. He's had extensive playing time in exactly two games--two years ago in a playoff game at Grand Valley, and yesterday at Texas Tech. And he played solidly on both occasions. I wasn't sure before yesterday, but it certainly looks like he's capable of having a big year.

I agree with this and still do not understand why...? Even as good as Danny Freund played the last 2 years Jake should have seen the field to prepare him better...

That being said, He has always been a great competitor (should have seen him pitch a baseball game). His quick reads in the Tech game were very good, just watched the highlight show and his quick release and ability to get the ball to the open receiver were alot of the reason we stayed competitive. The longer our drives on offense were the less time Tech had to do damage. He is a Big, Strong, and Smart young man with Football instincts, it is going to be fun to watch him play....
