  1. The tourneys are double elimination format. You have to win two in order to go to state. The winners of the semis tonight will go, but the losers have to face the winners of this afternoon games tomorrow. Two wins, and your in.
  2. North Dakota needs to change its approach to developing players. I think the practice to game ratio is a joke, and many of the coachs do not pay close enough attention to detail. These coachs need to know how to spot an error in a players stride, shot, etc., and teach them the proper way to fix that problem. To be quiet honest, many of them do not know how to do this. Creativity needs to be stressed, and at the younger levels the focus has to be almost solely on individual development. I'll go deeper into detail later...
  3. The '92 Championship team was groomed by Bruce Olson. Sampson didn't have to do much in the sense of coaching. I have never heard anything good about Sampson, but it's the players that dictate how the game goes. If you have attitudes on the team, you can only ride talent for so long. Cause when they face adversity, their true colors show. '04 Minot is a good example. GFC put up a couple right away on them and they folded. Took penalties and gave up. A coach can only do so much, the players have to do the rest.
  4. Here's a couple that popped in my head. The Helicopter Line= Cuz it doesn't have any wings The Donut Line= Where's the center? The Bobber Line= Three Floaters I'm kiddin, just had to put these up. They got me kicked off the Goofer Forum.
  5. Minot had a couple of teams that would have competed with high school teams around the state. Granted, that was over ten years ago. Recently, the GF gold team was unbelievable about 5 or 6 years ago. Their top line put any high school top line to shame. Each of them had aleast 120 points apeice. They also played a heavy MN schedule.
  6. It's called Junior Gold. If you want to play 40+ games @ 20 minute periods, that's the way to go. Last time I checked, Fargo, Minot, and G.F. all have programs. Get the top guys, schedule a competitve season.
  7. First of all, the refs from Minot, are probably some of the best officials in the state. All of the G.F. people should recognize them, they are officiating your Sioux games. They belong at the Tourney because they are the most unbiased officials there. IMHO, there were questionable calls that other officials had. The 4th RR goal in the opening round game. From what I saw, he threw the puck right at the goalie. Also in that game the highstick called on 10 from Bis was questionable. The RR kid looked like he took a dive. With a close game like that, why would you call that so late in the game. I think that BHS has had problems like that all year,(taking penalties late in a game) but that one would have been a good no call. Who knows, RR could have been playing in the 5th place game. The call on 16 from South was legit. He could have easily avoided the goalie. Congrats to South, Central, and Minot for winning the Sat. games.
  8. Just a little bit of info for all of you planning to watch the semi's and finals on the tube. Because of the Olympics, the semi's will be tape delayed and played at 1 am Sat morning. The finals will be played back at midnight Sat.
  9. Last time I checked, all rinks(with the exception of the Coliseum and Botno) are the same size.
