  1. Clearly my statements were about individual performance, however it would be hard to believe those individuals' team successes weren't at least partially attributable to their personal success...they all won something while here...MacNaughton or Broadmoor...I realize all we care about are NCAA banners, but hey, we're the Sioux.

    Impact players based on legacy?

Let's talk about that. Who is still revered in Sioux lore?

    Hrkac

Then the circus: Joyce and Johnson (even though he only skated hrkac's wing part of the season)

    Belfour

Blake, Panzer, Hoogsteen, Roche, Commodore, Goren, Murphy

    Archie!!!!

Sykes, Patrick, Murray, Casey, there's another guy from my childhood...forward who played with Sykes...big time scorer

    Parise

    Oshie, Toews and Duncan

How about Craig Ludwig, Mark Taylor, Doug Smail, Marc Chorney...just to name a few.... This could go on for a while, and probably off the intended topic, but interesting nonethesless.

  2. This extension means nothing. If/when the U wants him they will get him.

"The U"? When did The University of Miami Hurricanes start a hockey program? Are Warren Sapp and Michael Irvin going to talk Blaiser into leaving Omaha?

  3. Jesus, with the repeated beat down you give this clown its amazing he doesn't quit...Sheez, just give it 20 years!

I've only had about 40 posts total in nearly 8 years here, until Bison Boy made his illustrious debut. Thanks to him, I have tripled that in no time.

Yesterday was the first time I looked at this thread. When I saw Bison Boy's verbal banquet was on display here too, I decided to read the whole thing. At least he's consistent... His posts on this thread are just as assinine as they are on the other threads. I am just thankful that his views are the complete opposite of mine on everything, not just the nickname issue. Wonder if he's also a rodent fan by chance? Hhmmmm

And I kind of feel sympathy for some of the Bison fans, as it must really suck having a joker like this using your favorite team's nickname in his monicker...

  4. There are many more uses for oil than to be refined into 87 octane gasoline for passenger vehicles.

The comment 'give it 20 years' refers to passenger vehicles running purely on electric means. Just today I read that FedEx has 4 totally EV delivery trucks running now in California. The internal combustion engine had its day, it's time to move on to better things.

Bison Boy, You are finally right about something! There are more uses for oil. For example, your inflatable girl/boyfriend is undoubtedly made out of a petroleum based substance. So if there is less oil being produced, you will have a tougher time replacing her/him the next time you leave" it" too close to a fire or sharp object, resulting in a catastrophic loss of air... And the replacement cost will surely be significantly higher as well.

Now, on to your next point, that being Fedex. The last time you ordered one of your inflatable "friends", there is a good chance that it was delivered by Fedex, because you absolutely, positively, had to have it overnight. Being that you supposedly live in Minneapolis, there is no way "it" was delivered by one of their 4 electric trucks in California. So how did that make you feel, knowing that your selfish need and desire for companionship and intimacy contributed to pollution (and probably global warming, in your eyes)?

  5. That sounds like a very nice setup.

After you get everything set up make sure to throw some pics on here to inspire your fellow bleed greeners!..

I will post some when it's done.. If you do paint your fridge, I would recommend getting the magnetic Sioux emblems, as they look pretty good, and it's alot easier than trying to paint the logo and letters.

  6. Last summer, we made our porch at the lake into a pub room. I painted the refrigerator Kelly green, and picked up a couple of large Fighting Sioux magnetic emblems at Scheels, and put them on the front. We also added new green and beige carpet, a wooden bar with stools, and neon Bud signs. Next on the list is a UND pub table and stools I found at Kotula's, and it will almost be complete. We also have Fighting Sioux flags flying proudly at the end of the dock.

What makes it the most fun is that it's on Otter Tail Lake, right in the middle of Rodentia country!

  7. The only major sports are Men's Hockey and Men's BBall. I think both GF and Fargo can support that at a DI level (I realize NDSU does not yet have hockey)

So is Bison Boy now admitting that Men's Hockey is a major sport?

  8. Of all the board, Goon is the one I would be most likely to buy a beer.

Look out Goon, it appears that a certain someone may have a man-crush on you! Perhaps Bison Boy wants to have a Beer "Summit" with you  ..... Just be thankful that you're not inflatable, cuz you would probably end up in a threesome with him and "Joe" (or "Jo").....

  9. Or the sound of his girlfriend deflating.

:D:D:lol::lol: That's exactly what I was going to say! The only question is whether it's a "girl" model or not. If so, it's probably named Jo, and is dressed in a cute little Bisonette cheerleading outfit. If it's a "boy" model, it's undoubtedly named Joe, and is dressed in Rock Hudson designer jeans, with a zipper in the back, and knee pads. Regardless of the plumbing, it will be named after his idol in exile. I wonder if he spent a few more bucks to have it arrive with toy sandbags to complete the fantasy.... :D

  10. Hopefully this will get this thread back on to the subject at hand...

STANDING ROCK NICKNAME SUPPORTERS SUBMIT PETITION FOR BALLOT MEASURE

They have 1,004 signatures on the petition!! The total voter turnout last September was 1,900, so this looks promising.

Charles Murphy said his office will start to verify the names on Tuesday, and if they check out, his staff will draft a resolution to bring to the Tribal Council early next month.

  11. Man. Can you help me out with the general time frame of the hit? It was an awesome check.

I'm still uploading the after game stuff, it should be ready to post anytime (or you can check my "channel" in a couple hours if you can't sleep.

Not sure, but think it was in the second half of the first period. Sorry I can't pinpoint it with any more accuracy than a MplsBison post :p

  12. Why are you assuming that 100% of the fanbases of these schools (in both cases, WCHA and B10 tourny) are driving from the location of the school?

    Think before you write.

Think before you write? Wow, you truly are a dolt of epic proportions. ... Okay, for the last time... In post #3539, you wrote "WCHA at Xcel likely means schools within a few hours drive", and "Not true for NCAA game at Metrodome of Big 10 Tournament". So I listed the travel distances for the WCHA and Big 10 teams, thus destroying your argument yet again, which really isn't that difficult. You actually do it yourself on occasioin.

I'm getting tired of having to explain your own arguments to you. Maybe its time to hit the ignore button like most others do where you're concerned.

You are very fortunate that your inflatable girlfriend can't talk or write.... Hmmm, the stories she could tell. Oops, I did assume that your inflatable buddy is the female model, and that may not be correct. If not, I stand corrected. It's a pretty safe bet that it's named Joe....or Jo...

  13. How many UND alumni live in the cities? Even still, it's not that far of a drive from Grand Forks or Fargo to the cities.

    Thanks for proving my point.

You really must be an even dimmer bulb than I thought possible. YOU were the one that said that the WCHA Final 5 had better attendance figures than the Big 10 Basketball tournament because most fans and teams could drive instead of fly to St. Paul, whereas they couldn't to Indianapolis. So I put out the distances from all schools to each respective tournament and prove your argument false...So what do you do? You thank me for proving your point.... :silly: What a dumb a$$

You must be inhaling whatever it is you are inflating your girlfriend with these days....No brains, ,no headache...

  14. That's a nice apples to oranges comparison!

WCHA at the Xcel likely means several schools within a few hours drive.

Not true for NCAA tounament game at the Metrodome or the Big 10 tournament.

Tell me about a WCHA game attendance with Colorado College vs Alaska-Anchorage!

Okay, I have a few minutes before hockey...I will prove you wrong once again Bison Boy

Big Ten Basketball Tournament - Conseco Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, IN

Distances between member schools and Indianapolis starting with the closest:

    1. 55 miles - Indiana - Bloomington, IN

    2. 70 miles - Pudue - West Lafayette, IN

    3. 127 miles - Illinois - Champaign, IL

    4. 175 miles - Ohio State - Columbus, OH

    5. 202 miles - Northwestern - Evanston, IL

    6. 258 miles - Michigan State - East Lansing, MI

    7. 277 miles - Michigan - Ann Arbor, MI

    8. 329 miles - Wisconsin - Madison, WI

    9. 365 miles - Iowa - Iowa City, IA

    10. 498 miles - Penn State - State College, PA

    11. 592 miles - Minnesota - Minneapolis, MN

Hmmm..... Looks like at least 9 of 11 teams and fans would be driving and not flying to the Big 10 tournament.

WCHA Final Five Tournament - Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN

Distances between member schools and St. Paul starting with the closest:

    1. 10 miles - Minnesota - Minneapolis, MN

    2. 81 miles - St. Cloud State - St. Cloud, MN

    3. 87 miles - UM Mankato - Mankato, MN

    4. 151 miles - UM Duluth - Duluth, MN

    5. 259 miles - Wisconsin - Madison, WI

    6. 326 miles - North Dakota - Grand Forks, ND

    7. 364 miles - Michigan Tech - Houghton, MI

    8. 918 miles - Denver University - Denver, CO

    9. 988 miles - Colorado College - Colorado Springs, CO

    10. 3,183 miles - Alaska Anchorage - Anchorage, AK

Hmmm....Looks like 7 teams would be driving and not flying to the WCHA Final Five.

Now.....What was your point again, there Bison Boy? :D

Bison Boy, I guess you may still be a bigger tool than Dan...

So did the Bison team and fans take a bus or fly to Minneapolis? And is Fargo within a few hours drive of Minneapolis? You should know, since it's in your name...dumba$$.

And now you cry apples to oranges on the comparison? You morons are the ones that are saying that basketball is the greatest thing since the Bison flood promo video, so shouldn't you be able to out draw a niche sport from a bunch of schools nobody has ever heard of? Oh, and how was the attendance at the mighty Summit League tournament?

And if you are going to use the travel distance as an excuse as to why the WCHA tourney had better attendance than the Big 10 basketball tourney, you are even dumber than I gave you credit for....And that's saying something.

You guys make it too easy....You blow your own arguments right out of the water and you don't even realize it. I was going to spend some more time explaining it to you, but I think I will just sit back and laugh at you instead. That Whiskey-Joe-in-a-Speedo screen saver may have finally fried your brain.

So look back at your comments and how you contradict yourself... And if you still can't figure it out, ask your inflatable girlfriend who is no doubt sitting beside you right now to explain it to you....

  16. Your numbers are wrong - 12,000 for the Gopher game - double that for 2 years in a roll. You can play with numbers all you want - hockey is still a regional sport with only 50 some teams of which 40 are usually very bad and under funded.

Playing with numbers? I am going by published attendance figures.... not sure what your "2 years in a roll" comment is about.... So now you want to talk about which teams are bad and under funded?

I'm sure there are under funded basketball teams as well as hockey teams. The UND hockey team doesn't happen to fit into that category. Nor could they be described as "very bad".

I'm sure there are also plenty of "very bad" basketball teams as well. Now the NDSU basketball team may not be under funded either, but "very bad" seems to be a fitting description this year....Thanks for that!

Now you can play with yourself all you want.

  17. The Class B basketball tournament is the biggest sporting event in ND. Yes, people in ND like basketball! There were 12,000 Bison fans at a basketball game in Minneapolis last year, tipoff was before noon. They rolled out the TVs in schools so kids could watch the game during school.

ND is not a hockey state...more delusional talk from the puck lovers.

You don't really want to talk attendance numbers do you? Okay... you asked for it.

12,000 Bison fans in Minneapolis for the biggest game in NDSU history? Good for you.

So here are the attendance numbers for both that event in Minneapolis, which i believe was actually for a 2 game session, with the numbers for the Sioux hockey game against Duluth the same day, just across the river in St. Paul.

NCAA "BIG DANCE" attendance numbers Friday March 20, 2009 at the Metrodome: 15,794 (KU/NDSU + 1 MORE GAME)

WCHA FINAL 5 attendance numbers Friday March 20, 2009 at The Xcel Energy Center: 17,729 (UND/UMD SINGLE GAME)

Now, let's compare the attendance figures for the Big 10 Basketball tournament, with the WCHA Final 5 for the same year... Oh, in case you are not familiar with the Final 5... It is a hockey tournament. Hockey is a niche sport that is only played by a bunch of schools that nobody has heard of, and nobody follows...

2009 BIG 10 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT ATTENDANCE: Conseco Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana: 68,098

2009 WCHA FINAL FIVE TOURNAMENT ATTENDANCE: Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, Minnesota: 82,065

Plus, last night there were over 15,000 at the play in game at the WCHA Final 5 on a Thursday night.

So..like I said before.... GOOD FOR YOU with your attendance claims!

You can now go sit in the corner and feel shame.... :D

  18. Ask them who won the national title in hockey, 95% would have no clue.

You do have a good thing going up there but some of you are so blinded by your puck love that it has truly become laughable. The Big Dance is only the second biggest sporting event in the country...behind only the Super Bowl.

What is actually more laughable is your jealousy of the success of Sioux hockey. That and your obsession for The Fighting Sioux nickname to go away...

Otherwise you would have better things to do than hang out on a Sioux sports board. But I suppose there isn't much going on at Bisonville these days...

  19. Well I guess I really have no reason to hold back now. Division I hockey is a joke. Hockey overall is an afterthought that nobody gives a crap about west of Devils Lake, east of Warroad and South of Fargo. It's largely the sport for rich kids who aren't athletic enough to play other sports. You disagree, then why is does the greatest hockey player of all time (Wayne Gretzky) have the physique of a school girl?

Sioux hockey may win 10 championships but it ultimately doesn't amount to much as only 50 or so teams play Division I hockey and most of the schools that people associate with success in collegiate athletics don't even field teams (Florida, USC, Texas). If UND were in the NCAA tournament they most likely would have squared off with a school that is a recognizable name in every household in the country. Today the hockey team played Minnesota- Duluth. Point. Set. Match.

You have no reason to hold back now.....and this is what you come up with? Wow, you really are an intellectual giant aren't you? Sounds like you are doing a bit of stereotyping, now doesn't it? Very interesting, especially in this thread...

At one time or another you were probably very enamored with school girls and their physiques....So does this mean that you grew up lusting after Wayne Gretzky? That would make you super fabulous!!! (Not that there's anything wrong with that of course) ;)

... Not athletic enough to play other sports? How many of these great Division 1 basketball players can even skate? Hell, include the not so great players too, like at NDSU? If they are such superior athletes to the rich, school girl looking hockey players, surely they can skate too. :D

Basketball is for girls that can't skate....

I can't wait for next Friday when you report back on this ongoing massive media coverage of the teams that lost in the first round yesterday and today.

I think you have just overtaken Bison Boy as the biggest tool on the board... You should be proud...super fabulously proud!

  20. The first time a team from North Dakota (whether it be NDSU or UND) wins a first round game in an NCAA basketball tournament it will be a bigger story both within the state and nationally than anything the hockey team could ever hope to accomplish. The NCAA basketball tournament is the best and most watched tourney in collegiate sports. People all over the nation tuned in to watch today's games. Next week the hockey tourney will be lucky to receive any mention at all in most newspapers. Face it hockey is a regional niche sport that 95% of the country could give a rats ass about.

Ask anyone in the country who Kansas played in the first round last year, and more than 95% of them would have no clue.(Unless of course they were watching the Bison Flood promo video) :D And without looking, I bet you can't name any other team besides the usual suspects that won a first round game either. You know why? Because even if there was one, they lost 48 hours later and no one could give a rat's ass about them anymore.... You talk about next week's newspapers... Okay smart guy.... look at next Friday's newspapers and see how many teams that lost in the first round today are still being mentioned. You've obviously been smoking WAY too much crack....

But, I bet in those same newspapers you just may see something about the Sioux hockey team.... Go ahead, give it a whirl, and report back next week.

  21. AMEN!!!!

BE LOUD BE PROUD GO SIOUX!!!!!!

So have the crowd police completely taken over? I can understand that they don't want "F" Bomb chants (I don't like that either), but I haven't even heard any "Gophers Suck" chants. Is that one not even allowed anymore?

And if everyone is chanting it, how do they decide who to throw out? And being that tomorrow is the last game, what would the punishment be? when I went to UND, we used to yell "Gophers Suck" even when we weren't playing them....

This politically correct B.S. is getting out of control :D
