  1. I was wondering since when does Burggraf get to decide what Faison's job discription is? I love the part where he says it will cost UND donations. I think I just pointed out a couple of weeks ago how much DONATIONS HAVE GONE UP! This leader could easily be determined to be an extortion letter by threatening to cause economic harm if the writer does not get his way. Does he think he is an associate of Chicago Outfit like the great benefactor? Faison is a man with large cajones since he knew what he was getting into and still did it. How many of you would have had the cajones to do what he has done, namely his job.

I'm using my Negative Rep on you early today. But please don't fret, as I will log back in tomorrow, pick out another one of your verbal banquets, and Negative Rep that as well....

  2. Don't bother with the facts of what the ND Constitution says, it is to difficult to comprehend for most on this board.

Just because the vote didn't go your way today, you resort to belittling others on the board.... impressive! :silly: Maybe you would feel better if you retired your moniker and came up with a new one....Perhaps one without the word "Sioux" in it....

  3. It seems that two of the three proposed bills acknowledge the importance and significance of the 1969 Pipe Ceremony at Standing Rock that granted permission to use the nickname. For whatever reason, the NC$$ would never acknowledge that, probably because it would hurt their stance and ultimate objective of banning the Fighting Sioux nickname. (especially after the overwhelming vote at Spirit Lake in favor of the nickname)

Archie Fool Bear and others have argued all along that the Pipe Ceremony should be recognized, and rightfully so. The state legislature should officially recognize it too. That would mean that UND had actually met the NC$$ requirement the day that Spirit Lake certified it's vote....which was years before the November 2010 deadline agreed to in the settlement.

Then, even if Al Carlson's proposed bill is not the version that ultimately gets passed, Standing Rock's Tribal Council would at least be forced to have a vote of the people before rescinding permission to use the nickname. And I, for one, think the vote would be overwhelmingly in favor of retaining the nickname.

Let it play out.... GO SIOUX!!

  4. Had to love Tim Hennessy's comments after his pre-game interview with RMU coach Derek Schooley... Schooley told him that he called coach Serratore at Bemidji for advice before the trip to North Dakota..I was laughing pretty hard (as was Tim H.), but It went something like this....

Schooley: Can you tell me what to expect this weekend at North Dakota?

Serratore: Expect to get your ass kicked.

    :lol::lol::lol:

  5. Bring your earplugs if you're heading to Omaha . . .

From Twitter: Fans this just in... First 2,500 non-green wearing fans will receive a free cow bell from TD Ameritrade.

So.... They are discriminating against people that decide to wear the color green? Hmmm... I sure hope they wouldn't also think of denying a young hockey fan a cowbell because he or she happened to have clothing with Native American imagery..... Any lawyers out there? ;)

It's kind of ironic that TD Ameritrade's corporate logo is green.....

    GO SIOUX!!

  6. Thoughts tonight:

The penalty that the Bulldogs were called for at the end of Third period for shooting the puck after the whistle was a terrible call. Whether that happens to the Sioux or the opposition, I hate seeing a weak penalty like that ruin a tight and exciting game. It was unfortunate that penalty was called but it obviously helped the Sioux.

I thought the defensive depth really showed how deep the Sioux are at defense. Simpson and Gleason both played pretty solid games and limited making mistakes; they kept their games simple. I sure like Gleason's speed and his ability to skate with the puck. I like how he likes to lead the Sioux breakout and get the puck out and then make a play in the neutral zone by either making a pass or dumping the puck in deep.

The line of Trupp, Rodwell and I believe Nelson had some great shifts from the second period on. Rodwell brings good energy to the team and seems to always finish he checks while getting his nose dirty in front of the net and battling for position to generate garbage goals. I really like Nelson's game; I think it's a matter of time before he starts putting the puck in the net. He just needs to get that first one and I think he's confidence will sky rocket from there.

Dell made the saves when he had to despite only seeing a limited number of shots. I wouldn't mind seeming him play tomorrow night, but I am sure Eidsness will get a game in this weekend as well.

Lastly, even though Knight scored that empty-net goal at the end of the game, I really wanted him to chip that puck over to Kristo, so that he could get off the scoring slump and get an easy goal to get the pressure off his chest. Kristo's effort has shown throughout most of the games this year, at times he hangs on to the puck too long but I like the fact that the kid likes shoot the puck. For the Sioux to really be a dominant team this year, obviously Kristo needs to start scoring. I am not to worried about it right now, I know it'll happen, he's too good of a player not to be scoring goals.

A sweep would be nice, but I am happy that at least the Sioux can come out this wekend with at least a split. I think tomorrow's night will be another close game. If the Sioux play a full 60 minute game tomorrow I think they'll get the victory. After watching the Bulldogs play tonight I feel the Sioux are the better team.

    Go Sioux!

I have to totally disagree with you on the last Bulldog penalty. When the Duluth player entered the zone offsides, the blew before he even passed it all the way across the ice to the other player. Then that player hesitated for a moment and then shot it at Dell. He obviously heard the whistle. (I did, and I'm almost deaf) And If he didn't hear the whistle blow, why didn't he skate the puck in another 10 or 15 feet before he shot it, since there was no defensive pressure on him? - In fact, I had enough time to make myself another drink between the time the puck entered the zone and the time the Duluth player shot it at Dell. :D

Now if you really want to bitch about a penalty....what about the phantom call on Gregoire that gave Duluth the powerplay goal in the last 5 minutes that they scored on? All he did was finish his check on a player that had the puck at his feet. And after the way we lost at Duluth last year, that bogus call could have turned out to be catastrophic.

And just to be completely fair... The first penalty of the game on Duluth was total B.S. But it did not end in a goal and had no affect on the outcome of the game.

    Go Sioux....Get the Sweep!!!

  7. Zucker was the only player on the ice who knew where the puck was.And on an uncalled offside, maybe/

That was offsides. I was freaking out.... glad I wasn't the only one that noticed it. The replay showed it was offsides too, so it wasn't just the booze or my kelly green shades that made me see it that way. Thankfully it didn't change the outcome of the game. ...

Go Sioux, get the sweep tomorrow....

  8. I guess what you understand to be commonly true is different based on your bias?

Feel free to list the actual evidence you have to back up your hypothesis. Until then, it's slander.

Bisonette..... YOU are asking people to supply proof and evidence? :D:):(

If I had a dime for every time you were asked to provide proof/evidence for the crap you spew on here and failed to do so, I could buy you a few patch kits for your Chapped Joe doll. Then perhaps you could start hitting that again, instead of endlessly pounding on your sticky keyboard in futility here. :silly:

  9. I love it when the old-timers try to lament how "things've changed!". No...no they haven't. People are basically the same. They've always tried to bend the rules.

That's why you have law enforcement. Simply having a law on the books doesn't do any good.

Bi-son Boy.... So when you are driving along 35W in the carpool lane, is it Law Enforcement's fault (Police, Highway Patrol, Sheriff, or even video camera) that you are not stopped and ticketed for having "Joe", your life sized inflatable doll in the passenger seat instead of a real person? You are obviously trying to bend the rules, but if you're not caught, is it just due to a lack of oversight on their part?

  10. What's funny is the way the 4 year old is acting is the same way that most posters on this board have been acting. Throwing a temper tantrum and crying in the corner when you don't get your way.

Boo Hoo, I'm going to stop giving money to UND. Boo Hoo, I'm going to keep complaining about the vocal minority even though the silent majority hasn't done $hit for the Sioux name until now. Boo Hoo, let's cut all Native American programs at UND and quit giving the NA students a free ride (lie). Boo Hoo, I'm going to stop going to Sioux casinos out of spite and deny them my collection of nickels.

Some on this board need to grow up and fight for what you think your rights are. At the same time, know that every disparaging thing that you have said and continue to say about Native Americans and UND only adds fuel to the vocal minority and the oppositions fire.

Yet another verbal banquet by SIOUXPR....At least the 4 year old didn't interject race into his temper tantrum like you did with that brilliant comment about "the only freedom you've lost is your freedom to live under a White President".... :( And what's the gig with your Avatar and name? Shouldn't you be feeling shame for using the "Sioux" name and former logo?

    Pot....Kettle....?

  11. Really!?!

Tell me exactly how this country is losing its freedom of speech and religion. I think the only freedom that you've lost is your freedom to live under a white president.

Wow! Brilliant statement :( .... You've had a few gems before, but this one may take the title. Would you happen to be Keith Olbermann, By chance?

  12. When the NDSU games are televised next season, will either the "Red Zone" or "End Zone" areas of the field be aptly renamed the "Reward Zone" to capitalize on their new corporate ties to Best Buy? The Bison may accumulate more points that way,and perhaps even win a couple games, as it sounds like they may not score many points on their own.

  13. I'm sorry, but I think this thread should be locked until one of two things happen:

    1. Standing Rock holds their referendum and votes to oppose supporting the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo.

    2. Standing Rock's Tribal council does not allow for a vote on the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo.

Until then, and only then, there is still hope to get this travesty reversed. Both Archie and Steve Foolbear think the fight has just begun, and we have to have the same mindset. Because WHEN Standing Rock votes to support the Fighting Sioux name, they will need all of our support to counter the SBoHE, etal (Kelley, Faison, etc.).

If we just give up now and start picking out new names, it just makes it easier for the powers that be. I say Bull$hit! (insert Animal House video here)

Can you imagine the pressure that will be on the members of the SBoHE, when both tribes have given their blessing to keep the name? And don't forget that Governor Hoeven must appoint 3 new boardmembers in a year he is running for another office (hint...email him!) They will have no choice but to listen to the people.

The opportunity of a lifetime is right in front of us. We CAN turn the tables on the establishment! First, we need Standing Rock to do their part. Then, we MUST do our part. With the hundreds of thousands of true Fighting Sioux fans out there, we can organize a rally that would dwarf alot of the political rallies you see on television during election seasons.

When this is all said and done, The University of North Dakota will be able to keep the Fighting Sioux name and logo, and all of us that fight for it now will be able to stand even a little taller knowing that we played a part in determining the history and legacy of the university! -- Imagine being able to tell your grandchildren about this when they decide to attend UND? WOW!

If that won't make you feel proud when you see the Fighting Sioux logo live on, I don't know what would....

Let's live up to the advertisement.... North Dakota.......LEGENDARY!!!!!

-- I know where all of you are on this thread... I just think it's premature---- (and bad JuJu)

  14. First of all I want to repeat;

Sioux fans ought PROTEST, I say put 20,000 of us with our neighbors from Standing Rock and Spirit Lake on the streets outside the next SBofE meeting in Bismark.

Wouldn't it be better to have it at, or outside of Engelstad Arena, where it says "HOME OF THE FIGHTING SIOUX" right on the building? Plus, I'm sure they would be very receptive to the idea, and may even help out..... just sayin'

  15. Im seriously sad now, it has just sunk in that UND is no longer going to be called Fighting Sioux

Does anybody know if there is any possible way to change the decision, is there any possible actions the school can take to change this?? :silly:

Or is this FINAL, and i mean really FINAL........as in: there is no way to get the nickname back if the tribes vote it ok to use the name in say 5 years time??

Is there any chance to keep the name now?? i hope there is!!!

    I WANT TO CRY!!!!!!

    I CANT BELIEVE THIS!!!!!!!

    IT JUST REALLY SUCKS!!!!!

NO OTHER WAY TO PUT IT!!!!!

I seem to remember a while back when someone asked what would happen if they retired the name early, only to have Standing Rock vote and give their approval. I think it was Grant Shaft (appropriate last name after what he did today) that said it would be possible to reinstate the nickname if it fell within the agreed timeline in the agreement with the NC$$. --I may be wrong on this though, not sure.

Hopefully we will get to see what would happen. The SBoHE are a bunch of cowards, so it would probably take court action to force their hand on the issue if both tribes do give approval by the November deadline though.

  16. I cannot believe that Sioux fans are so Goddamn lame!

Listen to you all whine about this like something is being done to you and you have NO control over it.

Of all of the things that this country was founded upon, there was non greater that the will of the people triumphing.

Just put it in context for one second fellow Sioux Fans, you live in a state with a great military service background. Do you not get the idea of sacrifice for what you believe in and love?

The whole idea that no one in the state has even suggested organizing and creating a formal protest is MIND BOGGLING to me.

Has the media in our country neutered us that much. To be complacent or fearful so much that we only type on our keyboards and sit on our fat asses and listen to the news like it is our god?

    WTF? Thow could PROTEST.

ORGANIZE, MARCH!!! really what the F else you going to do? Maybe watch Dancing With The Stars? Maybe a little NBA or NHL?

How much do you REALLLLY care about the Sioux name and the tradition and history and name sake that go with it.

You do know that it goes well beyond the borders of the state don't you? Is it not enough of a SPECIAL thing to maybe drive down to Bismark with 20 or 30, hell why not 50 THOUSAND fellow Sioux fans and protest.

Protest at the next SBof F*cking Joke's next meeting!

Protest in the Streets outside Kelley's house!!

Why is it that YOU will not do anything significant?? If you can't your not worth it and YOU do not deserve to enjoy (for FREE) the great experience it is to be a Sioux Fan.

I will DRIVE from Colorado and meet you all wherever we can decide to protest.

What do you think the SBofF*cking joke would do if 50,000 peaceful protesters showed up at their next meeting?? huh?

The advocates at Standing Rock will take care of that end are we going to take care of ours???

I like your thinking on this. You may be on to something... I'm really interested to see if Standing Rock is still going to hear the petition referendum next Tuesday. They wanted to act after the SBoHE made their move. Well, they made it, so let's see how Standing Rock reacts. Hopefully they still go ahead and approve the nickname. At the very least, it would leave all the blame on the SBoHE. And who knows, it could still be a game changer. (I still refuse to give up)

I would be all for a huge protest that would even dwarf the size of one of the largest Tea Party protests. With all of the networking tools at our disposal, we should be able to make this fly.

What does everybody think of his idea?

Why go quietly into the night? What's the worst thing that could happen.... a peaceful gathering with 50,000 friends and diehard Fighting Sioux Fans, all dressed in Fighting Sioux apparel? I'm sure that members of both Standing Rock and Spirit Lake would love to show solidarity with us, and I bet Ralph Engelstad Arena, Inc. would be all for it, and perhaps help out.... Hmm....lots of possibilities here

  17. mpls bison is NOT a bison fan, nor a summit fan. Im a summit league fan for mens and women's, and I don't want und in the league, I didnt want usd either, but alas, they probably both will get in, because tom douple said "dont schedule und til nickname is gone" but they have all scheduled them. *sigh* I know he is frustrated, and either way, the nickname is still an anchor for und.

I see that you are the self-proclaimed "Summit League's biggest fan"... So if that is true, shouldn't you want the league to prosper and get the best teams/schools possible? And if so, wouldn't UND and USD help the cause? By all the empty seats disguised as fans at the almighty Summit League Basketball tournament, it looks like the league could use quite a few more of you "biggest fan" types in the seats.

And I also have to wonder....What the Hell are you even doing on this board, anyway? The Bison trolls have really been coming out of the woodwork lately. I would think that you would have enough subject matter to cover on Bisonville, or whatever the Hell that board is called. (Never been there, have no reason to either)

    Just for starters,

-You have Chapman's mansion to discuss.

-You have the upcoming audits to discuss.

-You have the Bison football team getting in the Rewards Zone at Best Buy more than the endzone at the dome to discuss.

-You have the mighty Summit League, with all its prestige, to discuss.

-You have last year's brief NCAA appearance for winning the aforementioned prestigious Summit BB tourney to discuss.

-You have the flood video that MplsBison Boy seems to sport wood over, to discuss.

-You have the Sioux/Bison baseball series, and the huge crowds, to discuss.

    - You could even discuss why you are the Summit League's Biggest fan, and why somehow MplsBison isn't a Bison fan or a Summit fan. I wonder if he knows that he's not a fan....And if he's not, why does he spend so damn much time over here talking about Whiskey Joe, the Bison, and the Summit.

Maybe the both of you could go back over there and fight over who really is the biggest Summit League fan....That would surely be a verbal banquet of epic proportions....
