  1. Any tips on getting a decent airfare to Grand Forks? Several BC fans want to come out for the October games, but the best fares we've found are $450 from NY and $525 from Boston. I tried checking a few semi-near airports, but they all seem almost as expensive and not worth the extra bother. Do prices come down a lot (or are priceline bids accepted at lower amounts) once it gets closer to the date? I haven't tried to fly into a monopolized airport in a long time. thanks, -Melissa

Thanks. It's been below here in the city especially by my office this winter so I can cope (unhappily). Unfortunately, my father called while I was checking out info and pulled out his age, depression and other complaints as why I'd better not shorten a Christmas visit. Thinking about it 11 days is way too long even without the necessary trip home for Christmas ahead of time esp. since I have 2 cats. The hotel packages are for the full time period and it would probably be very difficult getting a room for less than that. I think I'll have to postpone the WJC experience a while longer. However, I see that Boston College is visiting Grand Forks 10/17-18/03 which might be a good opportunity to see the Ralph and ND. How impossible would those tickets be? BC only sells their road tickets to their season ticketholders. very disappointed, but better to be realistic now rather than after putting down non-refundable $$s, -Melissa

Good point. Any suggestions on cheap lodgings preferably in walking distance of the Ralph (I don't drive, but I am a New Yorker so my general definition of walking distance is a bit longer than the average person's)? I guess I should try to book that now as well. thanks, -Melissa

I've never been to the Ralph - how are upstairs seats? I'm just wondering if lower bowl aren't available, should I buy upstairs now even though I'm not 100% I'll go or should I just wait and buy a downstairs off someone whose plans have changed by that time? I like to take pictures at games so if I'm in extreme nosebleeds that will affect my enjoyment of (desire to make in the first place) the trip. Advice please! thanks, -Melissa

  6. Thanks forecheck for all the names. I've uploaded all the corrections. My camera is a (now) discontinued Mavica 91. When I got it, they didn't have the 1, 2, 5, etc. numbers for resolution - it's definitely under 1. BUT, it has a 14x optical zoom which means I can occasionally get some good shots from my upstairs seat at Devils' games. Unfortunately, the camera I want including lenses would cost around $10,000 :-(. I had no problem justifying the Mavica cost (I paid around $800 on sale) because of the no more film, developing, convert to CD cost. But I don't have 10 grand even if I could figure out a way to claim it saved me money. thanks for the help, -Melissa
  7. I finally have finished putting up the pictures from these two games with initial identifications. I would appreciate help with filling in the "?"s - some should be pretty easy. North Dakota at Princeton starts: http://www.devsrule.com/2002_11c/2002_11_01_P1.html North Dakota at Yale starts: http://www.devsrule.com/2002_11c/2002_11_02_P1.html FYI, there are also pictures from the 2001 Frozen Four - just click on "College Hockey". thanks, -Melissa
  8. Will Massen be playing tomorrow night? As a Devils' fan, I was hoping to see both prospects play and was disappointed that he did not. I really liked Hale when I saw him play in Albany in 2000 - tonight, the best thing I can say is he earned my fantasy team a few points with his PIM. thanks for any info, -Melissa
