first of all south jv beat moorhead again this year and easily. fallen off? I think south jv beat wahpeton varsity by 6-7 goals and probably would have beaten a couple other varsity teams including on close to your heart

so reading all these posts, I get the feeling that of all the all east region selections besides Wurden never had a misconduct or unsportsmanlike penalty. He was not included because of one penalty? All of the other selections are mistake free players and have never taken a penalty in the heat of the battle.

the South player in question actually did come from Grand Forks

-Not really a fan of this last post. I'll tell you where Fargo North is, exactly where we thought they would be. Nobody was saying this team will be in the state tournament so your point is irrelevant. North really was not set up to succeed this season with only a few mentionable players. They were very young and should stand a better shot next year in the EDC. - Where is West Fargo, recovering from a three day period in which they were forced to play Grand Forks Central, Grand Forks Red River, and Grafton. That is a hellacious draw for a 4 seed to try to make the state tournament. So don't try to compare this West Fargo team to the past WF teams. There was not a lot of talent in this group but they knew how they needed to play successfully and because of an upset on day 1 were held short of the state tournament. Don't try and put GFC up on their cross for playing well when they needed to, because frankly they did not. They are going to state ahead of a number 4 seed that beat them not once, not twice, but 3 times over the course of the season, all because they lost to that team on day 1 of the region tournament at home. I really do feel bad for these kids, I've called them a weak number 4 all season, but they won every game they should have this year but 1 against Fargo North where Welk stood on his head. I think people like you need to consider the situation before comparing a program on the rise to its predecessors. -Coach of the Year in the East is an absolute joke this year. Wilson wouldn't have needed to go to practices this year for his team to be as good as they are. Richards from WF and Malm from Red River are far more deserving of this crown. -All EDC team- Is Wurden all that good or is he just a product of the system? On any other year this kid would be all-conference but I really wouldn't take Galbreath, LaDoucer, Swanson, Petersen, or Galt off the list for him. With 5 other South players there it doesn't surprise me that he didn't make it. Potential snub Chris Wateland from Wahpeton with over 25 points he deserves a lot more than All-EDC for that point total coming from Wahpeton. -Final thought- Where is the class of 2007? This year some truly great names are leaving North Dakota hockey. Just look at all EDC. The Class of 2008 is very strong with Galbreath, LaDoucer, Meland, Swanson, Powers, and Simonson just to name a few. But all EDC has no juniors on it. Let's just think Mr. Hockey 2007 pretty tough call if you ask me. Maybe McDougall from FS, or Hillman from BHS if he's still around.

south beat jamestown 11-0 and 10-0 with the score being 10-1 both games after 2 periods. I dont know about them playing tough for a period

you can never count out gf central at tourney time and I predict they will get the 4th seed out of the edc. they will probably have to open up with south or red river and lose but win next 2 to get in.

looking at gillands website souths third line must be playing because they have more points than most other teams second lines. as far as I can tell, wilson rolls three lines except of course power plays and penalty kills.

I agree during blowouts you should play all the lines including the 4th line, but until the third period it is hard to just shut down the first and second line. You still need to roll three lines or the 3rd and 4th line will get to tired. I dont think Wilson plays his first line any more than any other coach in ND

I dont think we should compare red river vs south and red river vs north as one game was 9-0 and other 4-3 in overtime. I wouldnt say red river outworked south being out shot by 7 or 8. They won the game and deserved it but I dont think south was embarrassed by that one loss.

Although it would be nice to win the league and be the #1 seed it probably does not really matter in the long run. For all teams in the edc tournament all they need to do is win 2 games, it doesnt matter in what order or who against. So whoever finishes second and might have to play Grafton in semis, still could lose and win the playin game and go to state. That is where it counts and the idea is to win that last game.

with grafton winning the region looks like there is a big gap between the top 3 teams and the rest battling for the 4th spot. it should be interesting to see who gets that last spot for state. South had 52 more shots against Crookston and scored 3. goalies want to play south so they can increase their save percentage and their stock with onlookers.

Saw in The Forum today that the Moorhead squirt B team won a tournament. How can they get more coverage than any Fargo or West Fargo high school team?

As the season progresses and gets closer to postseason, one thing that can change the outlook is injuries. Since The Forum only prints out daily injury reports for Moorhead, does any team have a major injury that might change things. I heard that Doeden from South got hurt and is out for awhile, might miss red river game.

I would say there is no question that Deichert, Rosendahl, Kringstad and Hillman all should be considered in the discussion of best goalies. But how do you determine the best? If you look at statistics to compare the best forwards ie, Weisgarber and Campbells then why not look at statistics for the goalies? Right now that means Deichert and Rosendahl have the edge.
