  1. I also want to give kudos to NDSU, the team. They played a heckuva game. I did catch myself accidentally cheering againt them a couple of times. I would be yelling stop him, stop him and then after I realized what I was doing I would then yell, no, I mean run, run. It was difficult to keep it straight.

Can't spell Feel The ThUNDer without UND!!

And let's never forget...UND may suck, but NDSU swallows!!

  2. I can guarantee that Chris Brown knows all about the Sioux nicknam flap. Rappers are all about free speech and I'm sure he was making a statement. I think we should get the Sioux Boosters to send one to 50 Cent and Eminem!!

  3. "This is why the business that I work at has a daily subscription to the Fargo Forum (including weekends, even when we are closed on weekends) and refuses to get a subscription to the herald."

Apparently you have forgotten that every editorial and column the Forum writes says to change the name - especially McFeeley.

I suppose you didn't see the story in the Herald the other day about the U.S. Mint that will be putting out a new gold coin. It has bison on one side and guess what is on the other side - that's right - and Indian. I wonder if the U.S. Mint realize they are hostile and abusive

  4. I got this from Ryan Bakken about 2 minutes ago:

The news is good about Greg and Janet Devillers' son, Brian, today. "It's as well as we've felt in eight days," Greg said.

Brian, about 25, is the Grand Forks resident who has meningitis. It was very scary for a very long time.

But Brian will be taken out of the intensive care unit tomorrow, if not tonight. He has been able to put complete sentences together in response to questions in the last day. He's tired and doesn't talk much, but gives short answers and/or visual responses to questions.

He could start physical and speech therapy as early as tomorrow.

"He's not out of the woods yet," Greg said. "There are still concerns about some possible damage done. But he got up by himself and sat on the bed."

Greg and Janet asked me to pass along this news because they know of the high interest in Brian at the Herald and in the community. so feel free to spread the word.

  5. Roughriders?? So, we would go from Indians to Cowboys?

In 70 years the entire population of Bismarck will be crying that it's hostile and abusive.

How about Aeros? The only other team I can think of that uses this name is the AHL team Houston Aeros.

  6. I found a blog that Brad Schlossman has just started and it All Sioux Hockey, All The Time. Go to gfheraldsiouxhockey.blogspot.com

It looks like he just started it, so there's only a few entries so far. But it looks like more than just current Sioux Hockey players, it's also former about former players. There is a blip about Colby Genoway.

    Pretty Cool!

  7. The Grand Forks Herald is far from a money loser. The only loser could be Grand Forks. People can talk about how much they hate the Herald and what an awful job they do, but let's just think for a minute what it would do to this town if there was no Grand Forks Herald. 150 people looking for jobs, probably elswhere and taking their spouses and children with them for one. People think that newspapers are dinosaurs, but in reality newspapers give their town a certain image that no other media outlet can. Can you imagine what will happen to this town if there was no Herald, the Base downsizes and we have to change the nickname! Everybody better be hoping for a good buyer that will let the Herald keep doing what its doing, except with a better website.

  8. As much as I don't like to give the Gophers any kind of credit: kudos to AJ Atherton for giving Punkovich a little taste of his own medicine on Friday night. Excuse me while I throw up now.

  9. Another reason GPR looked so good in the 3rd period is because Laducer (ref) likes to show he is the man and 2 of Central's better players spent most of the period in the box with 10 minute misconducts - Slominski and Greicar. Slominski was in for the entire 10 minutes and Greicar was put in with a few minutes left in the period.

  10. Well this flat-ass doesn't quite back the students anymore after the signs I saw this past weekend. And I can guarantee the students I will fight tooth and nail to keep my seat behind the opposing net. That is where the Sioux shoot twice and that's why I pay the big bucks (which does not include tuitition) to sit there. I stand when standing is necessary, a goal, a great play, a great save and a great fight.
