  1. I've gotta admit that see the point of the woman who wrote in -- a newspaper restaurant review of Taco Bell is funny anywhere.

I had to check that out...true, she has a review of many fast food joints. She actually makes going to Taco Bell sound like an enjoyable experience, not just a late night drive through for munchies "run for the border". Gotta give her credit for that..

  2. I'll give Monticello credit for playing out the game. What I'm wondering is who they beat to get that one win this season? That team has to feel shame......

  3. This speaks volumes about your weak American patriotism.

Yeah, I guess I should sign that loyalty oath before I come back.

Don't ever questions someone's patriotism in the way you did. Disagreeing with our foreign policy and internal policy is my right as a citizen of the United States. Unless that has changed in the last three weeks since I came to Mexico. :D

Although I don't have to answer to you, I will let you know that what they did does piss me off. All I am saying is that they were drunk, stupid, jealous of our country and did what they thought would piss us off. Why respond so angrily? That's what they want.

Now, I'm going back to read about Sioux hockey, which is why I came here.

  4. I say we just go down there and turn it into a glass-bottom parking lot. I think the Houston Texans need more spaces.

Maybe that's the attitude that makes countries like Mexico do tasteless cheers like "Osama! Osama". I'm not going to defend the cheer, but look at your attitude. If they don't like us....NUKE THEM??? Calm down buddy....leave the 5 tank divisions and the rest of the marines at the door.

I was watching the game last night in a restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, off the beaten path in a barrio north of the hotel zone. PV is in the state of Jalisco, the state capital is Guadalajara. I was the only gringo in there, and the Mexican's cheered their team and told me it was too bad that both teams couldn't go to the Olympic games. That's the breaks. I also shouted out after the third goal, "Ahora, podemos mirar hockey sobre hielo?". or...Now can we watch ice hockey? They laughed.

I'm not saying what those fans did in Guadalajara was right, but keep a couple of things in mind. We aren't exactly making a lot of friends in the international community right now. Mexico is incredibly into international football...that's their sport and the USA has dominated them recently. Their fans were extremely excited and did and said some stupid things...probably after a good borracheado.

  5. Okay, this is a "I gotta rub it in" post.

I'm in Puerto Vallarta for a month...and I found a bar near my condo that HAS DirecTV with channel 642....whooo!!

I was worried that I'd have to without my Sioux for a weekend! :p I don't know what I'd do with myself! ;)

  6. I was once at a Sioux/Denver game in the new Denver ice arena, (after having one too many) when their silly looking eagle/hawk or whatever the heck it was came down to me. He was making fun of the only Sioux jersey in the area. I tried to wave him off, but he grabbed my UND hat and did the fake stomp to it on the ground. He gave it back to me and I stood up, grabbed his "tail feather" and told him to take his feathers up to the rafter and dust off those "1960's" national championship banners. Almost immediately after, UND scored the game winning goal right in front of us...the mascot sheepishly left. I'm sure Blais planned it that way....

On my way out that night, that Mascot high fived me....

  7. Speaking of marketing Sioux products. I was bumming around the Factory Outlet Mall in Loveland, Colorado yesterday. Out of boredom, I went into the Sportsfan sportswear shop to look at all the NHL jerseys and lo and behold there were a big old rack of College hockey jerseys and hats.

Anyway, I looked through the pile of jerseys; Michigan, Minnesota, Denver, Boston U, Michigan State, Harvard, U Conn, etc, etc, etc. They even had Colorado State and Wyoming. (although club, it makes sense here) Of course I let the sales rep know what I thought..."Where the hell are the University of North Dakota Jerseys!?!?! Anytime I EVER go to one of these stores you never have the jersey of one of the best college hockey programs in the USA. And they are ranked #1, AGAIN!"

The poor guy, he got quiet and said, "well, we have five of the Sioux jerseys, but they sold out right away, we only sold a couple of the others...." :glare: Then he pulled out a bitchin' Sioux logo hat, which I was kind of forced to buy (well, that's what I had to say to myself).

I was pleasantly surprised to see that hat and hear about those jerseys. This sales rep said he sold three of them himself, and they were all to kids who thought the jerseys were extremely cool and thes kids had no ties to North Dakota. They were Zephyr hat's and Jerseys. That company is located about 2 miles from this mall.

I did tell him they should order more Sioux jerseys! I was wondering if anyone on this board who lives far away from Nodak has had the same kind of experience?

  8. Actually, one of the things I like about college hockey is how there isn't ONE program that totally reigns over the other programs. There is U of Michigan 9 national championships, North Dakota-7 , Minnesota - 5 , Wisconsin -5, Denver U - 5, then (I can't remember how many) Boston U, Boston College, Maine, Michigan State, etc.... It seems like that any year one of these program ends up winning. But never the same one over and over and over. That would be boring. (So do us a favor goofs, lose this year! :silly: )

I think the Sioux will win their share, along with the others in the years to come. That makes it much more fun than watching one program constantly winning.

  9. Way to go Eddie! I remember years ago...(many, many... ) going to Minneapolis and watching Eddie with the Blackhawks vs. Jon Casey with the North Stars. I wore my Sioux jersey (the old blackhawk jersey) with considerable pride that day. I didn't even mind that the hawks won that day.

  10. It was a great game. GVSU made fewer mistakes and deserved to win. Congrats to them! The Sioux football team had a great season and should be proud of what they did this year!

  11. Well, I hope this incident doesn't further damage the already strained relationship between Latvia and North Dakota. Thank god that security at the "John" took care of this North Dakota fan.

Or........was he a plant by our furry rodent friends attempting to throw North Dakota and Latvia to the brink of WAR! :D I say this is actually an attempt by the U of M to distract our hockey team and our fans! I say they are attempting to undermine UND's latest drive to a national championship! ;)

Well, it won't work. I say we use this as a rallying cry on January 23-24 to put an end to the goof's hopes to returning to the NCAA tourney! ;)

Okay, that was a little wierd........

  12. Obviously, I did this poll as a joke. Kind of poking fun at NDSU and seeing what kind of loyalty we have to that rivalry. (Although I do like the backfield in motion rule in CFL football!)

I am pleased to see so many people choose the "taunt" option. That shows me that we do need to keep this rivalry. Only, we need a level playing field, so for now UND won't sign a contract. Someday we'll move up to NDSU's level and continue trouncing them again. ???

  13. WyoBisonman,

IMHO, that looks like a good proposal for a new I-AA conference. I say bueno suerte! I wouldn't mind seeing UND move up after everything shakes out with division alignment in the NCAA. Hopefully, UND can rejoin NDSU in a level playing field and the same conference. In the meantime, I think UND officials are waiting it out. Thankfully, UND does have the needed facilities to make the move up.

In the meantime, what's up with Joe Glenn? I've been meaning to ask you this....doesn't he know it's rude to take the Bronze Boot the first year at Wyoming! I'm still pissed off......... :p

  14. Margaret-Ann Hinkley, North Dakota

In all the excitement of UND Mens team sweep over the goofs, I noticed this on USCHO.com. I know the women have been struggling this year, but here is some good news! :silly:

    Margaret-Ann Hinkley — North Dakota

Entering Sunday's game at home against No. 8 New Hampshire, the Fighting Sioux had zero wins against nationally-ranked competition in program history. Not to mention, they were 0-6-1 for the season, including a 6-2 defeat to the Wildcats the day before.

But the tide turned when USCHO.com Defensive Player of the Week Margaret-Ann Hinkley stopped 37 of 39 shots to carry North Dakota to a 3-2 upset victory, the biggest win in the short two-year history of UND women's hockey.

The sophomore from Edmonton survived a brutal second period in which the Sioux were outshot 22-3, yet North Dakota still maintained a 2-1 lead at the intermission.

Although the Wildcats battled back to tie in the third period, a Sioux goal in the final minute by Alexia Gagnon-Laplante ensured that Hinkley's effort would not go to waste. The groundbreaking victory was just the second of Hinkley's career, and one she will long remember.
