I know there's still over half of the season left, but I think the 3 frontrunners are goalie Sean Deichert of Fargo South and forward Kyle Everson of Devils Lake and defensman Danny Wurden of Fargo South. My pick, if I had to pick today, would be Sean Deichert of Fargo South. He had a great season last year between the pipes for the Bruins and continues to shine again this year, 5-0 record, 1.40 G.A.A., and a save % of 93. Anyone else have players they think should be added to the list?

Does anyone know if the Alumni games count as a game played? I know GF Central or GF Red River last year had an alumni game and it was posted on Bob Gillen's website. A few days later it was taken off their schedule, even though the game was played, stats listed in the GF Herald and all. Hmm ?? Do the games count as a "scrimmage" according to the NDHSAA? I'm not trying to stir the pot, but I heard that other teams weren't allowed to have them unless they would be counted as one of the teams 21 allowed (regular season) games. ?? Does anyone know what the NDHSAA says about these games?

Nice job representing North Dakota hockey, Fargo South. Fargo South 5, White Bear Lake, MN 1. White Bear Lake is ranked # 9 in the latest Minnesota High School AA Hockey Poll (out of 72 teams.) Says a lot about the quality of South's team.

It's official. Congrats to Rody Selk of Minot on making the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL. Their 25 man roster was announced July 1st. Tomorrow is February 1st. The Region tournaments are only 16 days away and the State Tournament is only 23 days away. ESPN promos in December sing that college bowl season is "the most wonderful time of the year," ... I beg to differ ... the next three weeks are it for me. Fargo South improves to 17-1. They defeated Jamestown tonight 10-0.

Interesting in what sense? Remember this was a 8pm central start, 7 mountain. The game went to overtime and didn't finish until the final seconds (6 to be exact) of OT. Most local tv station's sports broadcasts were already on OR over, and a lot of daily newspapers were already printing before the score was called in (if it ever was). It is normally the job the hometown team to call in the scores to AP or local tv stations. And yes, a big win for Hazen-Beulah. Alex Hermes was the story ... 60 saves on 63 shots.

With Minot's win last night, they've officially wrapped up the # 1 seed in the West Region tournament in Bismarck. It's the Magicians 12th time since 1982 that they've been the West Region Regular Season Champions (83,84,87,88,89,90,93,94,98,03,05,06). They shared the title with Bottineau in 1993. So with the number # 1 seed in the west settled, a number of teams are battling for seeds 2 through 4.
