  1. I was mostly referencing post season, but I catch your drift & I had no idea Jackson has been so successful. Thanks for the researching the percentages.
  2. At the NHL level, probably Scotty Bowman. He inherited a lot of talented teams, but he also knew how to get the most out of his squads. The guy flat-out was a brilliant coach & delivered year-in & year-out during the playoffs. He knew how to win, whereas other coaches tried their best to win. Some coaches have "it" & other coaches strive for "it", but I feel it's an inherent talent that can't really be taught. Just like players, a few got it & most don't. At the college level, not so sure. Gasparini, York & Jackson during his LSS years come to mind as great coaches when they have talented teams. But nowhere near as dominating as Bowman was.
  3. Great post. People are inclined to hogpile you here if you make note that the Emperor has no clothes. It's as if one is insulting his personal integrity, when all is being mentioned is that he has yet to bring home a NC. That's all, relax people, he's part of the team and is fair game as much as the fourth line center is. Even more so. After all, players come & go over the years; whereas the coaching staff has been the one constant the past 11 years. I'm staying on the sidelines re:: this issue until the season concludes. Coach Hakstol deserves that much, I feel. This year seems favorable for us what with having basically home ice before Boston.
  4. For sports & other trivial matters, yes. Regarding truly important & other sensitive matters, not really.
  5. I got a tingly, warm feeling when I thought of that possibility. IF that happened & no one left early after this season, UND would be a juggernaut next year. Having superstar players doesn't always translate to success on the ice, but we would sure be stacked talent-wise similar to the 1986-87 season..
  6. Nice, objective look at the team. But I don't know about the first half being just satisfactory, UND did have quite a few injuries to deal with & it's a nice record to have considering that.
  7. True, which should dispel any concern among UND fans that there are refs out there who intentionally single out UND players. Bad officiating is endemic to college hockey & the reasons are clear these knuckleheads aren't officiating at the NHL level..
  8. Unless shoulder-to-shoulder checks at center ice are illegal nowadays. The Omaha guy had his melon down & Brodzinski made him pay for it, as he should have..
  9. Is he writing for Lifetime or is he reporting a hockey game? "...runaway victory...", "...the two new bruisers from Grand Forks"....
  10. I'll be looking for how the team adjusts to the higher level of play compared to last weekend. From the slow Lakers on home ice, to a much more skilled team on away ice in a high altitude city which will test their endurance. Basically from a strong D3 team to a high quality D1 team in a matter of six days. When we went from the Badgers to Miami, it appeared the team needed a game to adjust to the higher tempo. Considering it's the last series before the break, I would think the players will adjust rather quickly this time or will be ready from the drop of the puck.
  11. This team has a lot of interchangeable parts. One part that cannot be interchanged is at goalie. As Zane goes this year, so goes UND.
  12. UND wins 3-1, but it's a pyrrhic victory w/ Stecher's injury.
  13. That sounds like a logical conclusion to me.
  14. LOL, classic, I'm liking this 2nd period intermission so far.
  15. Haha, touche
  16. End of 2nd: 1-0 UND. Apparently UND team didn't get the fans' memos that this would be a rout.
  17. Duluth running away from CC..3-0 at 4:41 of 2nd.
  18. UND PP goal, I believe OD..1-0
  19. But there are a couple of good games on 668-2, DirecTV: Michigan State currently playing Minnesota & CC at Duluth later.
  20. It's good news that Drake returned, albeit briefly. If he had suffered a serious injury, he would have stayed out. Let's hope it was just something minor that a week's rest will cure..
  21. What time do coaches usually announce their line-ups for a game? Is it usually a few minutes beforehand? And do any Sioux fans meet at a local sports bar in metro Phoenix to watch the weekend games? Would like to meet some of you guys in the near future..
  22. I hear you as I also have the same tendency to correct people, usually those who don't capitalize the first letter in a sentence. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy usually works better than synthetic meds, in case you were wondering. : )
  23. May I clarify something? I edited that part of my post out, but I am shading towards that age..
  24. Fans aren't required to march in lockstep because there will be disagreements from time to time. There's a "pattern in my approach" that you don't appreciate? That's interesting. What do you do, cruise the forums & look for dissenters? This is a sports forum where everyone usually has a different take to add to the discussion; not a gulag in 1930s Russia. There will always be people who think differently than you, sports included, so get used to it. It doesn't mean they're bad or disloyal people, they're just different. Sometimes I get a little hot because fans question or doubt my loyalty if I don't think like them. Was that too petulant for you? I was posting strictly about the hockey game tonight & you zeroed in on my comment of "Thx for the updates, nite". Was that too negative for you? Please reply in the appropriate thread where you may have had a previous disagreement with me. If you continue to have a beef with me, PM me & we can carry on our discussion in private. I'll be more than happy to engage you there. I love this hockey team, as I'm sure you do by the sound of it, so let's focus on the team, shall we? Apologies, guys, for posting this here; he's been asked to reply in private if he wants. And does anyone know if tonight's game will be on DirecTV? Thanks in advance if anyone knows..
