  1. I'd have to go with the Parise/Stafford/Bochenski line.

Somebody refresh my memory now... who was on the line with Panzer and Bayda in 1999-2000? That was another very good line.

It was actually 2001 and Lundbohm was the third member of that line. Ulmer, Goren and Bayda played together in 2000, if my memory is correct.

In 01', the Panzer line recorded 209 points in 138 combined games - 1.51 ppg. For reference purposes, the DOT line had 155 points this season in 120 combined games - 1.29 ppg.

  2. No one beats the Hrkac Circus.

    From USCHO's championship game notebook:

    The Last Time It Happened

You would have to dig all the way back to 1987 to find the last Spartan squad that played for a national title.

In an attempt to repeat as back-to-back champions, MSU fell to Gino Gasparini's North Dakota team complete with the Hrkac Circus

  3. Porter: I can't remember a better player to wear the 'C' on his jersey in quite some time. Sure, Smaby and Greene had their good points. Same with Hale, Armbrust, and Schneider. However, I think Porter was the first player I can remember who lead the team VISIBLY on the ice.

Fair comments about Porter, but you must have forgotten about

    Jeff Panzer

    He was a pretty good captain and certainly a leader on the ice . . . . . .

  4. So you were there? :silly::) That was.....not a good day for me. But for the record it was not in the toilet, would have been a lot less messy if it would have been though! That was my way of forgetting the game the night before!!!!!

Yep, standing upright, peeing, hoping you were going to survive . . . as your friends escorted you out, I gave you a siouxsports shoutout, but it was too much for you to comprehend at the time . . . good laugh for all of us!

  5. My opinion of him has not changed. He just won a big game, he's still the same person. Even though I only saw one instance of him showboating tonight, but it was not too bad. He's getting better. :silly:

You are a good fan, but wasn't your head buried in a toilet at Dagwood's (the name has changed since) last year during the regional? Just curious . . . .

  6. I'll be going to the UND/ SCSU games in a couple of weeks, and was wondering if any of you have any advice for hotels, parking, eating, etc. Never been to a game there, so I'm starting from scratch. Thank you! :glare:

(If there is a SCSU fan site, a link would be appreciated)

The Best Western Kelly Inn is a good place to stay. It is connected to a Green Mill and has served as the team hotel the last couple of seasons. It is a short drive (or shuttle) to the arena and is near the downtown fun spots.

When I made reservations last week, I was told that many rooms were still available.

  7. Brian Lee is among the team leader in points for defensemen. Brian Lee isn't perfect. Brian Lee is learning. Brian Lee still sucks. Yeah, Brian Lee is good for one mistake at least a game.

And the best part of it is: Hakstol knows what he's doing. And for that, I don't care what "everyone" says. I'll support Lee even after he leaves UND. He's not the best defenseman to wear a UND sweater. He's not even the best defenseman on the current team. However, I'll still support him.

I LOVE, though, how fans say "I don't like bashing players but.." and then bash players.

It's kind of like "I don't like getting cut by a knife but..." while watching your index finger get chopped off.

If you don't like bashing players, then don't bash them. It's really that simple.

Did Brian Lee cost UND the game? Nope. Did he play a great game? Nope. Does he deserve to be cut? Nope. Does he deserve to be benched? That's up to Hakstol to decide and, even if he did decide it, I would be shocked if it was more than one game.

What I wonder is this: Is Brian emotionally alright? I mean, with everyone saying how much he sucks, I wonder if he doesn't step onto the ice terrified he'll make a mistake and, thus play the rigid "holding the stick too tight" game that he has played as of late? WOuldn't it make sense? I mean, I know he has great skills and potential, but I don't know if I could use those skills and potential if everyone in the world keeps saying how much I suck.

What I do is this: Look for the positives in every player. What I don't do is wait for the mistakes a player makes.

Fascinating this: Genoway, Bina, Chorney, Radke, Oshie, Toews, Duncan... they've all made mistakes that contributed to or lead up to a goal for the opposition, yet Lee and Finley are the only ones that seem to take the blame?

I don't like bashing posters but.... No, actually, I won't bash a poster.

I just think that all this Lee bashing and player bashing is really really sad. It's like we can't see how good the team is playing. We can only see what a player you don't seem to care too much for is doing. If they don't make a mistake, then nothing is said, but if he does make a mistake, you're all over him. It's a nice way to live a life, no?

Saying that someone is not playing well isn't bashing, in my opinion, but I will apologize to you, Sir Redwing, for offending your sensibilities and will wait with great anticipation for your next nugget of hockey wisdom.

  8. with the exception of Brian Lee. What is up with that??? Lee made four really terrible errors and Lammy bailed him out on three of them. Sometimes I wonder if he's having some kind of personal issue and can't keep his head in the game. He seems slow to the puck and rushed on his passing and play-making. I'm not a scout, but I haven't been very impressed with him lately. Anyone else concerned about him?

Yes. I hate to say anything because I don't want to bash the players, but he has not been good this year; truthfully, of late, he's been quite bad!

  9. A source (yes I know it seems odd) told me Blood was on his recruiting visit here last night. I don't know if anyone else saw him but hopefully his recruiting visit went well. Let's hope he didn't care to much about the score :D Also, respoding to the post earlier, two recruits I forgot to mention (which I've mentioned before) that we could possibly be recruiting are Tyler Gron and Cam Lamoureux from the AJHL.

He was on the Sioux bench before last night's game. He was also seen between periods last night with Fabian in line waiting for dip and dots!

  10. I went to UND from 2001-2005 and I have the Ralph opening night puck as well as the 2002-2003 puck, the 2003-2004 puck and the 2004-2005 puck, but was wondering if they had a 2001-2002 puck other than the opening night puck and if so, does anyone have an extra one of these they would be willing to sell?

Also, I was wondering if anyone has an extra 2005-2006 hockey puck that they would be willing to sell, assuming they sold one?

Also, do they have a 2006-2007 puck yet at the Sioux Shop? I looked online but did not see on on their website.

Thanks a bunch for your help!

I was told by an employee, while in the Siouxshop last Saturday, that newly designed pucks will be arriving soon.

  11. Any specific news related to Zach Jones' injury? I'm kind of concerned....I had thought I heard during the meet the Sioux that he had "torn his groin."

    Anybody?!?!

Also would like to thank PCM for the recap.

    FWIW:

ZJ stated Monday night that he is good to go this weekend and that the coaches were just being cautious during the exhibition game and again during Meet the Sioux.

  12. Although this isn't related to his potential captaincy, it is a mark of his durability. As of now, Porter has played in 132 career games for UND, if my math is accurate. I believe the school record for games played is 167 held by Lee Davidson. Assuming Porter returns (I anticipate that he will) and remains healthy and stays in the lineup (knock on wood) he should break that mark, perhaps by several games, especially if UND makes the playoffs again. It could very well happen and is worth noting.

  13. If the tentative schedule is accurate, UND will be in Mankato on Oct 27/28. For those of you interested in attending that series, I would encourage you to call and reserve hotel rooms ASAP. The Holiday Inn is the place to stay during a hockey trip to Mankato (near the arena, bars, food, and is the team hotel). I just called and reserved a room and was informed that few rooms remain for that weekend due to some conference and a bunch of weddings.

  14. I am going with driscol and four ss.com lurkers; we are meeting up with UNDPUCKS, a Milwaukee resident. We are staying at the Best Western Inn Towne Hotel, downtown Milwaukee, and plan on going through the Miller Brewery Friday morning and taking in the Brewers game Friday night.

  15. I didn't know where else to post this and didn't want to start a new topic . . . . .

From CSTV's chat with Holy Cross Head Coach Paul Pearl this afternoon:

Jack(Minneapolis): Do you think the fact that all the Sioux fans that are at the rink will be rooting for you will help you? Kind of give you a little bit of a home-ice advantage, so to speak?

Coach Pearl: I don't know about home ice advantage, but I certainly appreciate all of the fans in North Dakota who may root for us. Two years ago, even when we played North Dakota, we got a nice hand after the game. I thought they were really nice, first class fans.

    :D

  16. My buddy has two tickets available for all three games of the West Regional in section 113, row A, seats 7,8. Unfortunately, due to a family issue, he cannot attend.

http://www.theralph.com/new2/Tickets_Section/Arena_maps.htm (the players benchs are in front of 101 and 116).

Due to the response, please email replies directly to my friend, Greg, at gltb@gra.midco.net. He will get back to interested parties later this afternoon. He is in GF so getting the tickets from him should not be complicated in any way.

  17. So who is printing and delivering this to shep at the organ bar.

There are some "edible" posts chiding, or at the very least questioning, Parise's ability also. Those could serve as dessert.

Several people that are in positions to be in-the-know were singing Parise's praises all weekend. A few even stated that he is THE goalie they would want in a one-game tilt.

    If only he didn't suck . . . .

  18. Is there a coaches show this week. We will have a slightly better idea when Hak indicates whether he is a maybe, doubtful or scratch for this weekend.

He could, but will not, play this weekend as a precaution; he did make the trip with the team.

Barring set back next week, he will play in the regional.

He is not scheduled to have surgery despite reports to the contrary.

  19. WTF are you talking about? Redwingsports.com? You're now throwing nonexistant websites at me? Should I be scared?

No, you should consider the source and move on with your day.
