  1. Just thought I'd throw it out there....Brock Nelson is having a great start to the year in the "A". Maybe his decision was accurate. He is having a great start (9 pts in 9 games) and the "A" is loaded with talent right now. I'm guessing he makes the big club when the labor dispute is resolved.

I actually was at the Bridgeport game yesterday and Nelson looked like himself. He intercepted a pass in the high slot and then fired one post-and-in to put Bridgeport up 3-2. He was excellent in all zones as well as the face-off circle. Based on what I saw yesterday, he would without a doubt be in the NHL if there wasn't a lockout.

  2. Just imagine the morons in the upper levels of the ralph next weekend if the sioux get behind by a goal early....the hak haters will be hockeynostradomuses to those poor souls around them.

One loss...it sucks....it will hurt a bit in PWR at the end but.

It will be fine,....wont effect the mcnaughton or the broadmoor goals.

I have a feeling the mcnaughton and broadmoor aren't the goals for this team. They are only looking at one thing.

  3. For all of the people on this board who have such strong opinions on whether or not fighting should be allowed in hockey, I would like to know what percentage has played or been a part of the game at a level other than beer league or watching your mite play hockey. I have been around the game for a number of years as a player, coach, and official and it really bothers me that so many people think they are experts on how to clean up the game by eliminating fighting and cheap shots but yet they have never been in that situation to know what it is. Believe me when I say this, there is room for the game of hockey to improve. I'm not saying that cheap shots should be allowed in the game, but they are going to continually happen. It's a lot harder to patrol the game in the heat of battle than many people think, and that is coming from being both a coach and official. Emotions get high and things happen that are not always seen. I would like for the people have all of the answers to step back and look at the game from a different perspective. There is much more to the game than the fans see and a number of people with such strong opinions don't understand that. End of rant.

  4. I tend to disagree with everything you just said.

I tend to agree with everything that Stromer said. Al was a saint in Devils Lake. If he did things that were so bad, why did they not get rid of him before. And it's not because no one wanted the job, people would kill for a head high school hockey program in the EDC.

  5. No offense, but I would love to see you argue that point with the Jewish kid who was harassed so much that he dropped out.

I agree that it does have something to do with drunk college kids, but at the same time there is also a lot to do with prejudice.

You have to agree that there are a lot of hate crimes (maybe not so much at UND but everywhere), and that there has to be something done about it.

I'm pretty sure he did not withdraw from school, just moved out of the dorms.

  6. Mike will be a good player for UND whether he is drafted or not, but coming from some good sources he has some flaws in his game which he needs to work on. Although I think he will be a very good foward in the long run, I don't think he is going to come in here next year and "skate circles" like some fans on here may think.

After talking with players that played with and against Mike Cichy, he will not have the impact on the program that many are expecting. From what I've heard, he can't even bench 100lbs. He is not a good team player and not liked by his teammate because of his attitude. Don't get me wrong, he has the skills to play at the next level but just isn't the type of player that many people like to play with.

  7. I saw Alex Gaustad from Grafton, Pat Arnason from Red River, and David Burdick from Fargo South listed. Any other North Dakota boys out there?

    --Breakin face "Peace Garden Pride"

    Jordan Bancroft from Red River

  8. Commie was interviewed at the 1st intermission of the Sens/Pens game....

And Parise tried to get the puck outta the zone, but ended up passing it to a Ranger who then went on to score right after that... Although he was on the ice for both of the Devils' goals...

Oh and I believe it was Zajac who got a 4 min high sticking penalty...

Brian let in a Penguins goal...

He "let in the Penguins goal"? I don't think he plays goalie and that goal was not at all his fault.

  9. I don't see anything about the football national championship...

I know that the Red River boys tennis team is at 11 state championships in a row and the girls are at 6. They both have won more than that but I can't recall the number.

  10. That's what I have so far. What all do you guys want me to add/delete/whatever?

    Things to add/change

    1. Central hockey state titles from 24 to 26

    2. Red River boys and girls tennis championships

    3. UND Swimming and Diving Championships

    4. UND Football Championship (NCAA and NCC)

    5. UND Basketball Championships.

Those are just a few things that I feel could be added to make the state better at more than a few things.

  11. I agree with your idea but I don't believe this is the time of year to use it. That pholosophy works best throughout the grind of a season. Now in the playoffs with all the TV timeouts and stops in play a coach can and often does shorten their rotation to 3 lines. And the 3rd line is often a rotation of the 3rd and 4th lines used throughout the regular season. I am all for having our "horses" or Big "DOGs" on the first two units (including defense). I would not move Genoway out of his position because it allows him to control the game more from the point and I love his game back there. My lines would look as follows:

    Forwards

    Duncan, Oshie, Kozek

    Watkins, VW, Kaip

    Martens, Miller, Frattin

    Defense

    Chorney & Bina

    Genoway & Finley

    Marto & LaPoint

I would rotate the 3rd unit in periodically and would probably play them individually with one of the first four.

    Just MYO

    BD

I will bet the Marto will see the ice this weekend alongside Jones for two reasons. One, it is an olympic size rink and two, Lapoint is banged up after being hit last weekend against Denver.

  12. Matt Malm? Haha, who cares who it is. News tonight said something about some Red River students attempting to steal the first place trophy from Grafton. Can anyone elaborate? I hope it wasn't any players.

You obviously have been living under a rock the past couple of weeks. Three Red River students broke into Grafton High School and attempted to steal the state championship trophy. They were caught on security cameras but haven't faced charges yet. None of the hockey players were present.
