  1. wow...gotta love someone who is worried about whats going on in someone else back yard!!!

I feel I should be playing Ninetendo in my office, or chatting on yahoo messenger or hammering a good buffet instead of worrying about everyone else.

that sounds like our old equipment manager's job description..?

  2. We can not even balance our budget now, with the GREAT REA? I was just told the football budget for the 4th year in a row needs to be slashed again? Even if the Alumni, Students , Fans, Fightin Sioux Club foot the bill, which I highly doubt, Athletes are not going to pick NDSU, UND, SDSU, ect..over Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, Oklahoma ect.. UND would be a Mid Major at best and take the "Beating of a Red Headed Step Child" in all other sports besides Mens Hockey...

But Keep drinking the Koolaid, Murph , It's good to have Dreams!

  3. Somebody please tell me that Buning won't hire Herbst. I am concerned that Buning will screw the program up even more by staying in house and hiring the assistant. That would almost be worse than Glas staying. I don't have any inside info and I don't know what the likelihood would be of this happening, but I am concerned. Talk me down off of the ledge please.

    GO AHEAD AND JUMP !

    I do not trust Bunning..?

  4. OK I know these facts are true - REA has nothing to do with the tickets, it is all being handled by UND Athletics. They got tickets from the NCAA (I believe the number was 600), first 100 go to the athlete's families, 50 to UND students, after that the tickets go first to the President, then the Athletic department and alumni department employees who need to be there for various reason. After that the tickets go to those in order of their giving (Diamond club, emerald club, Directors, Coaches). The charter only holds 150 and the rest are on your own.

Anyone want to bet me that, Chris Semerau, Jason, and a few more higher ups at REA won't be there?

They do not fit into your above "OK I know these facts to be true plan?"

  5. I really don't think that we should compare W hockey to W Soccer. They do have many or the same struggles, like there are 13 HS Soccer teams in the state of ND very similiar to W Hockey #'s. I agree that it is more difficult for a program to compete with DI competition, but they are also given more (money, staff, facilities, ect.) The major question is are we getting our money's worth?

Should it take us this long to catch up to Bemedji State, St. Cloud, Mankato? I understand that being a frozen four team isn't going to happen overnight, but is there progress being to get better? Two WCHA wins says there is something wrong, what is it? Money? Coaches? The new program card can't be played forever! Afterall this is the fourth year of the program.

I agree...4 years and This year we have 9 seniors?....It wasn't like the WCHA Snuck-up on us..?

The Womens Hockey Program at UND will Never make enough Money to pay for it self in My Lifetime...and I am 36.....Never will create enough revenue...Thank god for title 9...?

  6. Though Rich Glas moving on is not definite, it is inevitable at some point in the next few years. Who are some coaches with ties to UND, or with NO ties to UND that are potential candidates? I came up with a few possibilites as part of a different conversation. Here they are:

    1. Mike Boschee - Central College - Pella, IA

    2. Mike Fitzner - Lake Superior State - Sault Ste. Marie, MI

    3. Marty McDermott - University of Dubuque - Dubuque, IA -

    4. Rico Burkett - Wayne State College - Wayne, NE -

    5. Craig Smith - Mayville State University - Mayville, ND - A UND alum (1996), though he never coached at UND. He's followed Tim Miles around a little bit. An "up and comer".

    Others?

Why Mike Fitzer? What is the connection.

Rico, a great guy, has struggled at Wayne State after Mac left.

Mac (the Univ. of Northern Iowa), would obviously be a great choice, but he will go on, at some point to bigger and better things, as he is hottest item in DI (small school), with wins against ISU and Iowa.

What about Big Ben with UNI? If UND goes DI, would he come back?

Unblieveable....Coach Glas Breaks a Record and we have to post this Crap.....

1st of All there is not a Coach with UND Ties on That List that has a .500 Won Lost Record as a Head Coach...

Marty Mcdermott is Greg's Little Brother...Greg in at UNI...

Craig Smith is the only Coach with a Head Coaching Record a Few Games Above .500...But No UND Ties...

I wil take My Chances with Rich Glas...He has only averaged around 20 wins a year....Thats pretty good..

  7. That's right. Screw the administration. Who do they think they are? Nobody should have to follow any standards. There's no such thing as appropriate social behavior in public, especially at a hockey game.

There is no difference. Students should be able to do whatever they want. They own the university. It's theirs. Plus, Grand Forks would cease to exist without the students who go to hockey games.

Breaking the law, ignoring rules you don't like, acting like a classless jerk in public, swearing like a drunken sailor and being inconsiderate is all part of the real world. The sooner students learn that, the better off they'll be when they graduate.

I agree with All of This PCM maybe we could make the REA like The Louisana Super Dome after Hurricane Katrina....Lawlessness,Murder,Rape,..oh what fun...:D
