  1. I accept the obstruction should be reduced in the WCHA. I laugh at the NHL teams who passed on Parise. The guy had shown himself on multiple occasions to be VERY near the best in the world in his draft class. If they used a small sample of games (playoff losses to UMD and Ferris) as a reason to drop his stock, they deserve the Zherdevs, Michaleks, Kostitsyns, Carters, Jessimans, Browns, Nilssons, and Berniers they got instead.

  2. All I gotta say this years National Tournament was just lame. A lot of the games weren't even competitive. The Frozen Four games were not even close to being competitive. Yikes.

I agree. It's just not as fun without the Gophers.

Nice to see UW get embarrassed. Does anyone out east recruit besides BC?

  3. Not out of the question. I see a trade sending Blais to UMinn for a half-dozen overrated Minnesota-born quitters and a blood-oath to end UND's season just once in the next five years.

Careful now your starting to sound like an SCSU fan in the late '90s gloating about owning the Gophers, while forgetting your main objective.

  4. In his interview with Hammer aired on Monday, he said he took the position thinking 3 or 4 more years and he'd be done coaching. He sees a lot of potential so he decided to give it some more time.

Why would you go from UNO with any improvement up to expectations to UMN where anything less than a NC in the first three years is a failure at this point in his career.

I think the "U" could have had him this year if Lucia's contract was closer to ending. After next year Blais has way less motivation to leave UNO. His third year team at UNO will no doubt be poised to go deep in the NCAAs and he will have a LOT more invested there. This season he was away a bunch and easily could have been persuaded to come home.

  5. I think this BC team was ripe for the picking. Their defense and goaltending were certainly not as strong as the last time we faced BC in the playoffs. If the Sioux team that played in the F5 showed up for that regional, I think that they would have beaten both Yale and BC.

Of course, all we can do is speculate on that now...

That said, I fully expect Miami to take out BC rather easily next Thursday to advance to the title game.

After watching both the BC/Yale and the Miami/Mich games, I don't think Miami will have too much trouble with BC.

Yep. This BC wouldn't have been a problem for the Sioux and most days I think Yale would have been either. Miami has some serious demons to exercise with BC as well, so who knows how that semi will go. I'm guessing BC beats them, and then lays down for the filthy Badgers. Just like in '06.

Two guys that Lucia needed. Gilbert and McDonough.

  6. One of the major differences is the officiating. The Sioux seem to do well when they play with their usual WCHA style and take their share of penalties. This game they didn't even attempt to intimidate Yale. It almost seemed like they just wanted to stay out of the box. After watching their superior play vs. the Gophers then at the Final Five, I was shocked at how they came out. Same thing the last couple of years.

  7. All may be true with Blaise signing a new contract....however, I was watching today's game in Mesa AZ today (another dissapointing ending to a year) and one of the alumni said that the University of Minnesota AD and Booster president, paid a visit to Blaise's house, and met with him for about 2 hours.

So not sure if the deal is done as of yet.....but would rather that ND try and get him back, than lose him to MN.

    BRING BLAISE BACK....PLEASE!

He was ours first and your coach is fine. It's time for him to come home.

This year is the year for the Gophers, he isn't going to dump Omaha after next season. They will be too good.

  8. I love how Reusse likes to take digs at the gophers but whether or not Lucia really caused this is, IMO, questionable. It could be Reusse putting 2 and 2 together to get 5.

I'm pretty skeptical of a Lucia play. Frank was an independent contractor, the other guys they basically own. I'd be shocked if this was anything other than a cost saving move.

  9. Man the Gophers must suck if Rick isn't even going to waste his venom on us. :p

The thread is brilliant though. And I certainly would support firing Hak. That or just win the @#$%#@ tourney this year so your guys and staff can let a little complacency set it. This teasing you have been doing since '03-'04 is getting old.

  10. The biggest thing in my mind that the Sioux will have to overcome is their seemingly year-in, year-out with BC. I realize Yale is first, but I hope Hak has something special up his sleeve if we wind up playing BC. GO SIOUX!! :p

All he needs is respectable goaltending and you guys will beat BC. Same as most of the other years.

I like UW, DU, UND and Miami. I true battle of the heavy weights. Similar to 2005.

UW and DU got good draws, Miami and UND will have to battle it out, but should prevail.

  11. When I saw Michigan go up out of order, I was hoping for you and UW in St. Paul.

Great draw for both UND and Michigan. Yale even though they finished 9th in PWR are ranked by other measures the 25th best team in the country. The BC game should be fun. Toss up, but it has to go your way at some point again.

  12. Guys the Gophers are full of grinders. Lack of skill is what the Gophers problem has been this year. A 1.5-2.5 lines of grinders is cool, but you have to have some skill as well. When your best skill guy likes to drift around the perimeter and bounce slapshots off the glass, your bound to have a season like the Gophers.

This suspension is CRAP without and explanation. I want to know if he should have been tossed for that infraction and maybe a comment on the performance of Shep and Hunt. They seemed to have a big effect on both Game 2 and Game 3.

  13. It will be like home-ice for the Bulldogs on Thursday night after tonight's result. The good news is the Sioux are playing some great, hard-nosed hockey right now and the sky's the limit. I'll say UND over UMD, Wisconsin over St.Cloud, Denver over UND, UND over St.Cloud for 3rd, Wisconsin wins the Broadmoor.

No way. They don't have that many fans even if they all show up.

  14. 7? Thats weird because FSN only showed 5 trophies on Sunday. Are the other ones lost? There is a banner discrepency as well.

I think we have six big gold banners at Mariucci. Five traditional NCAA titles and the 1940 team featuring our arena's namesake. While I think 7>5 is appropriate, I don't think our celebrating our only unbeaten/untied team in over 90 years should bother you johnny come latelies too much. :silly:
