  1. I read somewhere that CB was bringing Schweitzer back to help coach the goalies. Any verification of that? DG
  2. I think this was also the game that TV 11 telecast with "Fast " Eddie Schultz and Tim O'Keefe. Ed had the bright idea to do the game from the crowd instead of the press box! Of course when the brawl broke out much of the fun was listening to Eddie get it on with the Badger fanatics! After the game was over, and just before they signed off, Tim O'keefe said, " Just remember, Ed, this was your idea to do this game from down here instead of the press box." DG
  3. Dale made his comments about a bad agent on Ed Schultz's morning radio talk show a few months ago. DG
  4. Now that the Vikings need a kicker, I'm wondering what ever happened to Cameron Peterka? I haven't heard a thing about him for several months since Dale Lennon said that Cameron had a bad agent and was working on getting a new one. DG
  5. Has anyone seen the schedule for this coming year? I have not found it on any of the Sioux sports sites. The rest of the conference and the Sioux football and hockey schedules have been out for quite a while. I was wondering how many games and what teams the Sioux playing in The Ralph this year.
  6. I know this is OT but has anyone seen the mens BB schedulle? Both football and hockey are out but I was wondering if the men's team is playing any games in The Ralph besides the bison. Any D1 teams? A natural draw would be to convince local boy made good, Lute Olson,to bring his Arizona Wildcats to The Ralph.
  7. I purchased the poster of that shot at Barnes & Noble next to The Ralph for $12.98. It is indeed a cool shot. Put it in a nice upscale poster frame and you have a great wall hanging for considerably less than $200.
  8. As a kid I saw Ben Cherski play. He still holds the career goal record at UND and he played in the early '50's! In the last 50 years no one has caught him! He ranks in a small group as one of the best forwards to play at Siouxville along with Hrkac, Greg Johnson, Steve Johnson, Smail, Reichart and a handful of others. Should he have been included in the WCHA top 50? Absolutely! How do you keep your #1 goal scorer off that list?
  9. Most of the year UND allowed the opposition to free wheel through the neutral zone. Our D kept backing up and giving ground deep into our zone. The teams we played did their homework and for the most part took the neutral zone away from the Sioux, stacked the blue line and forced UND to dump and chase knowing that we did not have the size needed in a muckers game. We, on the other hand, really struggled getting the neutral zone under control and did not force the blue line. Your defense absolutely cannot force the blue line if the forwards are not back checking hard. That was a problem for most of the season. Clearing our defensive zone has been a problem for the past couple of years. Teams piled up "time of possesion" counts on the Sioux all year. Most of the above did improve the last week or two of the season. Lets hope that trend continues into next season.
  10. I thought that I read somewhere, maybe on this list, that Dean is bringing Aaron Schweitzer back to be the goalie coach.
  11. A few years ago Wisconsin hosted the West Region tourney in the, then, new Kohl center. Wisconsin was not in the tournament and it didn't draw spit! Coach Sauer was extremely embarrassed because of the horrible turn out and, as I recall, didn't hesitate to vent his feelings.
  12. It doesn't hurt the Michigan seems to get the West Region tournament at home every stinking year! What gives with that?
  13. If you browse under NCAA hockey tournament sites you will find CBSsportsline.com and under future tournament sites it lists the Ralph as the west region host in 2006.
  14. I read somewhere this past year that, I think it was either off the WCHA site or college hockey site, that UND has the NCAA West Regiional 3 or 4 years from now. I will dig it up and report back.
  15. The original WCHA charter teams plus Wisconsin should be the core of the home and home series scheduling, thus UND, Minn, Denver, Colorado College, MTech, etc should play each other home and home every year. The rest of late comer wanabees like Mankato and AA get the left overs. It seems unbelievable that over the last few years we lost games with Wisconsin and now Minnesota but by G_d the WCHA will make sure we play wannabe Mankato home and home every year. That truely SUCKS. The charter rivalries should remain intact! DG
  16. Frank gets the names right and, let's face it, the Sioux have some tongue twisters. Wooger spent most of the playoff weekend calling Mazurak... "Mizzurak". While Franky definately needs a new rug he has a pretty good hockey voice and has pretty good feel for the game. Wooger gives some insites to the game that we didn't get before. During the Hall of Fame game in October he brought up the fact that UND doesn't have any right hand point men which has a lot of effect on angle of shots especially during a power play. Last weekend when UND was struggling even to get the puck over the offensive blue line Frank suggested it was because the Goofers weren't allowing UND to free wheel through the neutral zone, Wooger said that "If you want me to be blunt, the Sioux were struggling with this because they lack quality or experianced centers." In any case Frank is a ton better than our own Pat Sweeney.
  17. I think Frank & Doug do a pretty good job. During the Sioux/Gopher WCHA playoff game last Saturday spent more than a little bit of time talking about UND's upgraded effort over Friday night. Woog even gave Andy the 2 "best saves of the year" during the overtime. I expect these guys to be homers, that's a given, but they do a decent job of showcasing the opposition to include player and coach interviews.
  18. It has always seemed idiotic to me that the football and basketball programs have a TV coachs show but the flagship program in the Sioux athletic dept has none. I know that there is a radio show but it is not broadcast region wide. One can turn their TVs on and see the Don Lucia show or the Jeff Sauer show or the Craig Dahl show but the most successful program in the WCHA has nothing!
  19. It wasn't that many years ago that the WCHA played Hockey East teams every year and the counted in the conference standings.
