  1. Only on bisonswille.....

The people that know what they are talking about said partial.

NDSU doesn't have a lot of money left and I'm guessing a full scholarship was already given to one DT commit.

  2. Gopher fans are arrogant and really they haven't earned the right to be arrogant about anything on the gridiron. Their coach though is about as far from arrogant as you can get. He was in Fargo this summer to see what NDSU football is all about.

He is a humble and down to Earth guy. I have a ton of respect for Kill and with him at helm it is easy to want the Gophers to win. As for Nelson I think he would be best suited to go to a MAC/CUSA/AAC/MWC school, not sure he is good enough for Texas Tech or UCLA.

  3. You just made my point. The gophers bowl game which I agree is not an elite bowl was on EPSN while your National title game was on ESPN2. Even the biggest game for your level of football isn't as popular as lower tier bowl games.

The quarterfinal game was on ESPN....I guess that is now on par with your bowl game.

  4. I don't know about specific examples because I don't care about NDSU that much but I know he has thrown more than his fair share of pick 6's sometimes early in games to put the team behind right away and I really think he is an average QB and good leader with a real good supporting cast around him.

As for asking who the Gophers beat in other posts NDSU beat an average K-State team with a lot of different players from the previous season in the 1st game of the year. The Gophers Nebraska, @ Northwestern, and Penn State wins were all better than that and the Gophers were a few mistakes in the redzone away from pulling an upset at Michigan State.

You don't have examples yet you make the same idiotic clam throughout the thread. Not sure what to say really, I mean Brock had 44 TDs this year and just 7 ints. That to me is a bit beyond average and doesn't really sound like a guy that is making all of these mistake that the team must constantly overcome. He made some bad mistakes as a junior but this year he was pretty sharp.

Again the Gophers beat a Northwestern team without their starting QB and RB. It was a win vs a terribly banged up team....that ended up 5-7. Yeah that really sounds like something better than beating an 8-5 Big 12 team on the road.

Really I have no idea if the only football some of you watch is UND and Minnesota. If so it might explain some of the things that I am reading. It is truly beyond bizarre.

  5. WOW, you don't watch much football do you? Nebraska and Northwestern were both ranked when the Gophers beat them. I know in your fantasy land that since Moo U beat K-State that somehow they would have also beaten FSU and Bama, so I will just be done with this conversation.

I never said NDSU would beat Bama or FSU or even be competitive against teams of that caliber. All I've talked about is K-State...you know the team that NDSU actually did beat.

Northwestern....please. That team was beat up when the Gophers beat them and was in middle of a tailspin that they didn't recover from. K-State would demolish that team. There is a reason why that team finished 5-7 and nowhere near even receiving votes. Seriously you bash my football knowledge and bring up Northwestern. I could have bought Penn State but Northwestern...wow.

Nebraska though was at least respectable. Not better than K-State but respectable. I still remember SDSU running for a billion yards vs Nebraska and then the next week getting negative yards against NDSU.

  6. Haha this must be some sort of joke I think I'll trust recruiting services, Jerry Kill, and many other people who believe the same as me rather than your opinion. Leidner, Nelson, or even Streeveler who they redshirted this year would have played over any NDSU or UND QB. Let me guess NDSU would have beat Minnesota this year too? Jensen was a product of a good team around him but often times that team had to overcome his mistakes.

Have some examples of the team having to overcome Brock's mistakes this year? I am pretty sure I watched him lead the team on a game winning drive at a Big 12 stadium against a decent K-State team. Can't remember Nelson leading the Gophers on a game winning drive against any decent team on the road.

  7. I'd be curious how the assistant's salary pool stacks up. Guessing NDSU's is higher, but doubtful it is as much as you'd think. Bohl's contract required NDSU's to be in the top 10% of FCS but I haven't seen anything that shows Klieman's includes that. It has been indicated that UND's is in the top 3-5 of the Big Sky now.

I don't know what is in Coach K's contract but the assistant pool salary will remain the same from last year.

  8. Does he care what UND is doing? Probably not. Did he make a mental note that the open records laws turned it into a circus? Absolutely.

There is no doubt that he wanted to avoid a circus at all costs. It would have been bad for recruiting and distracting for the team that is still competing in the playoffs.

But he did wait a week before naming a coach, not sure he really panicked. I actually thought he handled the whole thing very well.

  9. Again, Klieman's base at NDSU is very abnormal for FCS. I believe Delaney at Montana has a base around $180k. Gene Taylor saw how big of a mess hiring from the outside was at UND and in a panic did everything he could to retain a coach so they wouldn't lose all their recruits. The fact that his base is well above Bohl's speaks to this.

I don't think GT really cares about what UND is doing. If he went external he said he would make a hire in 7-10 days. He also said he didn't want to move backwards in what he was paying a coach or his assistants.

NDSU hired a head soccer coach externally in 8 days. So obviously it can be done on that time frame at our school, not sure what is going on at UND that it would have to be this difficult. Maybe Faison just couldn't get the guy he wanted to commit.

  10. His way around the policy is to hire one of the coordinators. Promoting from within is much easier. If he can't get that done than he will probably have to follow the policy and they have a longer listing period than UND.

NDSU made a external hire for a soccer coach a few years ago.. the search lasted all of 10 days. I am not sure if these rules are as inflexible as some seem to think.

  11. I don't believe I said any of those things, don't put words in my mouth, even though it's one of the few things you are really good at. :glare:

All I said was that Notre Dame is not a marquee program in Men's BB and that is the plain and simple truth. I will give you credit for the FBS wins and the FCS national titles (despite the obnoxious nature of your fan base), but I am not going to buy the notion that beating Notre Dame in Men's BB is some sort of huge milestone in your program's D-I existence. Beat a team like Kansas and then I'll give you all the props you want.

Well they are things I have read here and they are a bit bizarre because if any of them happened to UND you guys would be going crazy and rightfully so.

Notre Dame is 246-10 at home since 2006-2007(4th best in the NCAA) and they've been in the big dance the past 4 seasons. Add on the fact the game was on ESPNU and it is a big deal. It isn't Wisconsin or Marquette big but it is big nonetheless.

  12. Scottie Hazelton isn't happening, he's the new linebackers coach at USC.

He is the DC at Nevada now. He got off the Lane Kiffen ship before it sunk.

I listened to GT tonight and it sounded like some of the names being throw around the media aren't too far off base.

  13. Did NDSU call a press conference to announce that coach's DUI and suspension as CAS is implying UND should have done in Hardee's case?

I don't think it is the AD's responsibility make something like that public, if it didn't involve University property, personnel, or student athletes. Hardee's DUI happened in June, the off-season, likely on his own time.

It would be a totally different story if it happened while at a University sanctioned event, during the season, and involved UND players. That is what happened this weekend, and Hardee is now gone. I suspect the outcome would be the same even if Hardee didn't have the prior DUI.

I never said Faison needed to call a press conference, I said the Herald needs to do its job. Hence calling them inept. It wasn't like the DUI happened in some far away state, it was right in GF. But looking back I would have liked to see an initial stiffer punishment from Faison other than just a verbal reprimand and telling him to never do it again or he is fired. At the very least the coach should have been suspended without pay for a week or so.

Yes, DUI or no DUI if you are driving a car with student athletes in it and are visibly intoxicated your coaching career is finished. There are no second chances for that offense.

  14. Since you seem to want to compare, what would be the punishment if a coach at NDSU were to get a DUI? And what if it didn't make the media, would it be a cover-up?

An assistant wrestling coach got a DUI a few years ago...he was suspended for five days without pay and was told another DUI and he is done. Oh and it was all over the media as well.

I don't think there was a cover up...the GF media is just inept.
