  1. Sincerely, good luck in the Frozen Four! But to keep everything in perspective there is: One DI University (Minnesota), One DI University without a football program (Denver), One dII University (undII), and One DIII University (CC). And yes, aren't there only 17 DI universities in the huge field of 58 colleges that have college hockey? And this is a DI Championship!
  2. Hey, it's all about fun, and success to both universities BUT: Playing DI competition in ALL SPORTS doesn't mean anything? Nothing to play for? At least the Dahlen twins can collect shot glasses in destinations outside of ND, MN, and SD! Wonder why Mertens and all of the other recruits go to NDSU if it means nothing, it must be Divsion I! It's the NCAA that requires a five year DI transitional period, too bad the Bison are ready now!
  3. The FM TV channels had reports tonight about the DII Elite Eight hosted by UND that only drew 4,500 fans. That set an attendance record for the least number of fans attending a DII national basketball tournament. Wasn't there 7 games played at the Ralph, it must have been embarrasing! Mmm, not very good for any type of national exposure is it?
  4. You are either DI or dII. Exception for 2 sports only. undII is dreaming about anything else. Besides, what other two sports does undII even have that could move up to DI? Get real, DI in all sports is the only way to go. Just ask the NDSU alumni across the country. They are exposed to DI Bison athletics from August to June. Yes, across the country, not limited to North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota!
  5. sioux a #3 seed. fifth in the WCHA regular season and third in the tournament, can't expect more that a 3 seed!
  6. Another example of the dilution of DII! How could Moorhead St. of the NSIC be the number 2 seed in the North Central women's basketball regional tournament. What an embarrasement!! Just like the Dragon football program. Who is left?
  7. A NC is a NC! Yes, the women' game has come a long way. At the same time DII has not gotten better. Remember schools like Portland St., Cal- Davis, SDSU & NDSU. They were DII, but now they are replaced with schools like Upper Iowa!
  8. For those of you that don't understand or that don't care to, the Bison women are DIVISION ONE and are ineligible for the NCAA tournament for another 3 years. I stand corrected, but I believe that the Bison women have won FIVE national championships and the UND women have won only ONE!
  9. Even though the NCC tournament is still going, aren't the undii men done for the year?
  10. Disappointing attendance for all of the statewide print and media advertising by UND billing the huge rematch. The UND game had 8,200 and the Pitt. St. game had 10,000 + so without a doubt the Sioux will be in the "jungle" next Saturday in Kansas.
  11. If NDSU offers him a scholarship he will go there. He is 4.0 student that wants to major in engineering so NDSU is his first choice. If NDSU doesn't make him an offer then he'll end up at UND. Wisconsin wants him to walk on but that isn't what he wants.
  12. I heard for the third week in a row that there is no statewide TV coverage in North Dakota. None of the local affiliates such as ABC, NBC, CBS, or FOX have coverage outside of Grand Forks. Must be due to the Bison's move to DI.
  13. Instead of spending all of their recruiting time at GF Central games maybe Lennon & Co. should get out or their backyard. Fargo South blasted Central tonight by a score of 36 - 14. Hmm, doesn't this make you wonder about the true talent? By the way, Chappel did get 57 yards on 20 carries.
  14. It is true that the deadline to declare DI intent is December 1. However, this only becomes effective the following school year. UND could not declare it's intent by December 1 and have it effective for the 2004-2005 year. The reclassification period would begin with the 2005-2006 school year. So if UND notifies the NCAA of it's intent to go DI by 12/01/04 they will only be 2 years behind NDSU. However, if UND notifies the NCAA by 12/01/05, which is more realistic, they will be a full 3 years behind NDSU. I believe it will be a minimum of 3 years difference, and more than likely 4-5 years. And don't underestimate this difference and the impact on fan support, fundraising, corporate sponsorships, and recruiting.
