  1. I don't know why that was, but to me it screams a lack of confidence, or some type of mental concern.
  2. Well, Randall Herbst is the head coach at Minot State. Randall, as everyone probably knows, was an assistant coach at UND under Sather before becoming the head coach at Minot. He left under good terms. I would assume the lines of communication should be strong and honest. If he fits what Sather wants, Sather should have a decent shot at him.
  3. 🤣 You have a little something on your nose
  4. Just my opinion, but he started every game for Minot State and averaged 8.8 ppg and 5 rpg. I would bet $ that Erickson could do that at Minot State. So you essentially are looking at another Erickson. I would pass but of course Jones only averaged 2.8 ppg & 3.3 rpg - and many really like him - which I don't understand.
  5. What is different about St Thomas? They don't have anyone listed in the portal on verbal commits. Is it the NIL $ or player/coach relationship, or a combination?
  6. There are scholarships available at the D2 level. I guess if there are players at UND that didn't get recruited at any D2s only UND, I'd probably be nervous about it too, but I have to imagine that most of these players had interest from D2s before accepting the offer at UND. Even if they didn't play much, D2s will still be very interested.
  7. I get your point and the answer is yes, I'd jump too if it were only about the money and everythingelse was the same. I've been employed for decades with the same company. I could go get another job and make more money. I don't because I like my job, my employer, and the people I work with. I think many kids jump for money, and loyalty is fleeting, but some of these players start looking because of they just don't like thier bosses. UND is light on NIL money, but as some have pointed out, there is some money there. I assume King and Anderson recieved a decent chunk of the UND pot. They are gone, and several others are leaving that probably shouldn't be. Maybe it's not about the $$. Greyson is an exception. I dont think he wanted to leave, but the $$ other schools are throwing at him is too much to ignore.
  8. Do we know he is getting bad advice? Or could it be the relationship with the coaches were not what he wanted, so he want's out? I don't know. I do believe many of these kids get bad advice. It's the same with A3, did he get bad advice, or was the relationship with the coaches not good so he went looking for advice? The irony between Micah and Marley is they are extremely similar. Micah had a little better numbers coming out of HS, but they are identical twins with pretty much the exact skillsets. Why they are splitting is interesting.
  9. So what do we know so far for UND: I believe this is where we currently stand Graduate: King, Thomas, Anderson Announced they are going into the portal: A3, Marley Curtis, Bothun That leaves: Kraft, Uelmen, Doppler, Micah Curtis, Guga, Erickson, Jones, Delorme, and Ouse My predictions: Still to leave the team: Uelmen, Doppler, Guga, Delorme, Ouse Staying: Kraft, Micah Curtis, Jones (although he could look around and decide to leave because everyone else is gone.
  10. True to certain level. Treyson could have left a year earlier, but he was a ride or die guy that listened to Sather, and it worked out for him. Numerous others should have stayed another year but didn't. Sure, you can call it purely a business decision and put it on NIL but in reality, if their is a bond or mutual respect between coaches and players everyone succeeds. If it's more of a one way street and the coach has a transactional only style, you're more than likely going to see things happen that don't make sense. Which is what we see with this team.
  11. I think the proof is in the pudding. I don’t know the numbers, but the ride or die guys are WAY lower (maybe a handful) than the guys that flee or don't care for him. Some of that can be explained by other factors like a lack of playtime. But we loose a lot of players that we probably shouldn't.
  12. I would imagine the players meetings have all taken place by now. Others will start announcing soon. Coaches know where the players stand and there may be some negotiations. With A3, he most likely went into that meeting asking for an amount of money or a play time guarentee (or both), neither of which UND coaches wanted to guarentee. I still dont think Greyson returns, but with Moore and Hanson coming in, along with Kraft and a potential portal get, the coaches probably drew a line. That's why A3 is the 1st. Just my hunch.
  13. I'm sure she would consider the UND women's team in with the Bison and the Rabbits - seems legit
  14. The way I look at it is - no matter what is true or not, an AD should have a eyes on the situation and ears open on any new hires. The AD should be in communication with others close to the program. Maybe not the players (but maybe), but he should be touching base with assistants, large donors, others that have contact with the head coach. The AD is the top of that chain and should make sure the hire is working out. The AD should be able to weed out parents complaints that are "parent" problems, but should also have an understanding of the culture - especially of a new hire.
  15. I was thinking we would see more Summit League players jumping into the portal. Last year as soon as the season was over they jumped in like crazy. After doing some research, it doesn't look like there is much of an advantage for a D1 player to announce he is going into the portal until the portal actually opens on April 7th. If you are a JUCO, D3, or D2 player, you can actually enter the portal after your season is over. Once in the portal, you can talk with coaches and they can talk with you (and make offers). As a D1 athlete, it doesn't matter if you have gone through the steps or announced it, there is a no contact rule until April 7th. We may not see much activity until either just before April 7th, or after April 7th. Only a 3 week window this year to jump in, so players jumping will all jump close together.
  16. I guess I didn't think we'd see 7 schools decline the invite.
  17. I was surprised to see St Thomas get an NIT invite.
  18. And 10 mins after I speculate, Marley posts an Instagram post that really makes it seems like he will most likely be staying. If Marley stays, A3 stays and vice versa
  19. Ha! Speculation. Obviously, if Greyson stays, that changes things. What also may change my prediction, especially with A3 and the Twins is what UND is willing to offer in terms of NIL, same with Jones. I don't think there is enough NIL $ available for Greyson, but the Twins and A3 could be swayed by a heavier NIL offer.
  20. I'm in on the speculation. It's tough to predict as if the right dominoes fall, a lot of dominoes could fall. If a few key dominoes stand/stay, others will also be inclined to stay. That said, here is are my thoughts. The twins and A3. Not real happy about the playing time decisions, they look for somewhere else. Unpopular possible opinion: Micah stays. Marley and A3 leave. Karson O. He also leaves understanding he is over his head at a D1 program. Erickson, Doppler, and Bothun. They leave looking to actually play. Wiley and Kraft - stay at UND King, Anderson, Thomas - graduate and are out of eligibility. Guga - his agent finds him another home. Jones - this a a domino that could look around ad say, everyone is gone, im gone too, or, if my predictions above are wrong and several stay, he could stay as well. Greyson - the key domino. I think he strikes while the iron is hot and leaves. He doesn't have to go to a power 5 to make it worth it. A program will throw crazy money at him and tell him things he will like to hear. He has 3 years of eligibility left, and he is probably looking at the UND guys coming back (which he probably has a good idea who is and isn't coming back) and he is thinking UND will be reliant on portal acquisitions to be competitive next year with several key cogs from this year gone. He probably wants to go somewhere to win or at least compete for a shot at playing in the NCAA tournament and advanced his career. He leaves.
  21. I would think we'd hear something. Obviously, the portal doesnt officially open until April 7th, so there isn't a rush, but i would assume end of season meetings will take place and off-season workouts will start up this week. The coaches should learn the intent of the players at the meetings. It's possible, there may be some $$ negotiations with some, so that may drag out players who were in the rotation and are on the fence.
  22. Hmmmm, I dont think so. I think they have a few hunches, but I wouldn't say they have a good idea. Some hopes maybe, but not a good idea. They will have player meetings right away, maybe even Monday morning. After that, they will have a good idea, and will react to what is discussed in the meeting. This will be the beginning of the $$ negotiations.
  23. Or maybe he just had a bad game, maybe he is dealing with an injury we don't know about, who knows. I think he made the right decision to leave. Sure, he could have been the Summit League player of the year (possibly). Instead he went to a big time school, got to play in some very awesome environments, got to get a look at what the next level looks like and figure out where or if he fits in. In the process he started all 32 games, and averaged 9.5 ppg. Throw in the small amount of the $1.5 million or whatever it was and the choice seems obvious - it's a complete no brainer to leave ND and get that experience. He would have been a fool not to. That's not the same with some of the others who have left, but sometimes you have to take a leap of faith to get to the next chapter in life, if you don't, time runs out and you look back wishing you had at least tried. Kudo's to him
