  1. It'll be great if the Habs can take down the high and mighty Penguins.I'm so sick of the media talking about them like they're the greatest team ever and like Crosby is the second coming of God or something.GIVE ME A BREAK!!!

But he is the first coming of the most whiny, diving, skilled little crybaby in the history of the game. Their current team and fanbase are the most sickening thing in the sporting world. Habs had better be prepared to kill off ten or twelve pp per game in this series. Buttman has already lost one of his golden boys, Mr. Clutch -- Ovechkin. It's doubful he'll want to lose another especially to an 8th seed.

  2. Well, he is the only player to be arrested twice, and suspended twice this season, so he probably should be front page news over there.

The headline on the front page should read: "Premier College Hockey Program in the State of Hockey Misses Playoffs."

  3. So are you saying hits to the head are ok if in retaliation? I don't want any intentional hits to the head, but how about some consistancy??

Yes, now that you have asked, retaliatory hits to the head are always permissible.

  4. DUI trials should be pretty open and shut when there is a valid chemical test like there was here. The defense did not have an expert, so the defense lawyer must have done a very good job blasting the Intoxilyzer and the field sobriety tests.

    This is basically what happened.

  5. Off the top of my head I can't think of any ex-Sioux that ever played for the Flyer's but I'm sure there was somebody.

Actually, the Flyers have had a few former Sioux play for them at one time or another: Mark Taylor, Murray Baron, Darren Jensen, Dave Tippett, Scott Sandelin, Russ Romaniuk.

  6. In any case, it looks like it will be a great time. The NHL is supposedly setting up a neighborhood festival all around the stadium, which will be great, but it will snarl traffic on the day of the game. So if anyone is planning to go, I'd strongly suggest not even trying to drive down to Wrigley. Its hard enough to find parking at Cubs games without that "festival." The CTA Red Line drops you off 1/2 a block from the stadium, and you can get there for about $2/trip.

This is good advice. I just got back from a little trip to Chicago/Columbus last week watching the Flyers score 1 goal in six periods of hockey.

I took the Blue Line from O'Hare to Western where one of my boys picked me up and we went to the United Center. $2 ticket. Very quick train ride. Easy way to travel.

The Hawks crowd on Friday night was great. Everybody psyched. I can guarantee that they will be completely crazed on Thursday.

  7. That is a horrible call, if anything it is roughing but not a 5 mintue CFB.

Precisely what I predicted would happen once these officials were given a mandate to make more calls.

LOL. What did you guys think would happen? The officials would get better?

  8. I tend to agree. More talented NHL players like Crosby, Ovechkin, Kane, Parise, etc. would not be able to play at the level they do now under the old rules. In the WCHA, I'd rather somebody blow a whistle because some flat-footed clod is hanging on a Duncan-type player than watching him drag around same clod who lacks the talent or will to keep up.

    1. Kane and Parise are NOT in the same category as Ovechkin and Crosby. Try to be somewhat objective here.

    2. Skilled players have ALWAYS excelled and will excel in every era. Look at the amount of goal scoring in the 70's and 80's.

Please, stop it with your delusions that more penalty calls are going to solve everything.

  9. Stop with the melodramatics about muggings. It works both ways. So, you guys are sitting there thinking that UND is going to be the beneficiary of all the power plays? Riiight. The Sioux are going to be killing off as many as they receive.

Look at all of the complaining about WCHA officiating which occurs on this board most of which is justified. With the alleged crackdown on obstruction does anyone believe that the officating is going to get better? LOL! The same idiots who couldn't call a game before are now going to be given a mandate to manufacture calls. How is this going to improve the game? Don't to be too optimistic in thinking that the players will adapt. It's the refs you gotta worry about not the players.

The post lockout NHL is nearly unwatchable because of the officiating. The preseason games absolutely suck because it is nothing more than an endless pligrimmage to the penalty box all because the refs are manufacturing calls.

  10. Yeah, I hope you all enjoy the "crackdown" on obstruction. If they do start calling every little touch it's gonna be nothing but whistle after whistle, power play after power play. Yeah, that's real exicitng hockey. The battle of special teams. Paying $$ to watch the refs raise their arms every 90 seconds is my idea of entertainment.

  11. LOL at all you clowns who think Steve Downie is going to get pummeled. "If this, if that...blah, blah, blah." Hilarious.

Dream on. He can handle himself. There is nothing as heartwarming as seeing an opposing player laying on the ice, an official escorting a Flyers player off the ice, and seeing the deluded fans standing up crying their little eyes out.

Steve Downie is the Alpha and the Omega.

  12. hope the other guys is alright. he is still a punk like he was when he put bina into the boards. guys like him don't change. just like the downie kid from philly. if they are allowed to keep playing, one of those two will kill someone. both dirty punks who compensate getting outskilled and played by trying to hurt other players.

Re: Steve Downie. Don't be absurd. Which hit are you crying about? The one on McAmmond or that little love tap to Blake's face?

Re: Pauk. Don't care what happens to him.

  13. Might want to be a bit discreet, though, as hotel mgmt might object to having their guests harassed. I would go either alone or with one other person and quietly approach the players after they have checked out or while they are standing around doing nothing.

I have seen a lot of people waiting outside near the bus and hoping for an autograph before the players board. At least, this is where some of the rink bunnies hang out.

Best option is to check in as a guest and then hang out in the lobby and get a few auotgraphs as they file into the lobby. You have maybe a 1/2 hr to 45 minute window before they all leave the hotel and head to the Ex.

  14. Speaking of the Wild, has anyone on this site ever noticed where the visiting teams enter the X from the street before the game? I'm hoping to go down this year and want to get a few things signed by some of the visiting players. Thanks for any help.

Most, if not all, of the teams stay at The St. Paul Hotel. Just go there a couple of hours before game time. Hang out in the lobby. There will be plenty of time for autographs. Plus, there is a nice little bar conveniently located in the lobby. You will see every player, coach, broadcaster, equip. mgr, etc. Most are more than happy to sign autographs at this time.

  15. One need not be an expert to know that this out of the way Austro pro league does not produce very many NHL players. The fact that only one name has been mentioned proves my point.

The facts are there. To deny them is to deny reality.

  16. LOL! Way too funny. If the only people allowed to give an opinion on a player or a league were those who earn a living playing hockey then this board would die a quick death, would it not?

Again, there you go acting as if you are some sort of hockey authority.

Also, you are wrong about the tractor. Not too quick are you, Goon?

  17. If anything your presenting yourself as an expert. :)

Look, if you are arguing that this Salzburg team or the league in which it plays produces NHL players please name them.

It has nothing to do with expertise. It has everything to do with facts.

  18. LOL!

A perfect example of how things are misinterpreted around here. My username has nothing to do with airplanes.

BTW, Goon, I as talking to Sioux-cia, not you, so lighten up.
