UAA coach says he thought we were the best team they've played this year. Didn't Judding say that last weekend in Mankato too? Or was that the Tech coach?

Hakstol's pre-game comments: Said after the game last night, you know they'll play hard for 60 minutes. Likely, they'll be even hungrier coming off a loss. I just think they competed hard. We gave up a couple turnovers, to allow them to get back into the game. You have to play a strong 60 minutes against this hockey team. If you play impatient, you'll make turnovers and they feed off that. Each goal we scored, well...a couple were highlight reel goals. I thought Oshie played great last night, his whole line played well. Trupp showed the skills of his hands. The PK did a good job last night and they need to continue to do that. They've been limiting the shots, and that takes seconds off the penalty clock. It's a game of mistakes to a certain degree. You'll never play the perfect game. We had 4 or 5 mental errors last night. We gave up a 3 on 1 in the 3rd last night. Some other mental errors too. Kozek's played well. That's 7 periods he's played with those guys and he's got 2 goals, 2 assists. He needs to keep with what he's doing. That lines was good last night. From a fans perspective, I hate the clutching and grabbing; from a coaches perspective, it is what it is, and you adjust to it. You play within those parameters. I thought Phil had 2 tremendous saves in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd as well. It's physical and mental, probably tougher mentally. I think physically, Phil's fresh. The mental issue, he seems to be handling that well, and hopefully he can make the turn again tonight. Davidson deserves to play. Tough decision taking Martens out because he's played well, but we need that competitiveness to get into the lineup. Brent has earned it and now has to go out tonight to prove that he deserves to be in their next Friday.

Good to see Davidson in tonight. I also see that UAA took my advice and is going back with Christianson again tonight!
-
He can't buy them dinner either. That would violate NCAA rules, wouldn't it?

I thought of that last night. Too bad he's got a bum knee. Of course, if he didn't, he'd most likely be in Atlanta this weekend.

About an hour out from faceoff. Sioux need to come out shooting and go for the sweep, as well as 7 in a row!!!! Go Sioux!!!

Usually up about an hour after the game ends.

Looks great!!! I'm sure Nick will enjoy it!!! -
They made the change in the NHL. League officials informed the teams of what would be called penalties and what wouldn't be. When the games started, a lot of penalties were called and teams eventually changed their play. It could be done. However, it's been going on for over a decade now. Coaches meet every summer, and if enough of them were absolutely fed up with it, wouldn't they have been pushing for tighter calls on this kind of play? You can put all the blame you want on the refs, but my take on it is if the coaches truly wanted it to change, they could get it changed, by continually bringing it up every summer until it changes. I would love to see a clean game in college. The NHL has become so much more exciting since making the change, and I'm sure the WCHA would too if they would ever make the change.

Jonny said in his interview with Sweeney that he'd be leaving the Forks Sunday afternoon, so I'd assume he'd catch tonight's game as well.
-
I think some chemistry was found tonight. I'll go with Kozek.

Hakstol post-game comments: Have to earn it against UAA, and we did that tonight. We're halfway there. We made a couple great plays to score goals, and that's what separated thing. A little puck luck, we would have had a few more. We missed a few rebounds in the first, but Kozek's goal was a rebound goal, so we got to that one. I thought Kaip and Watkins did a good job killing penalties, but expended quite a bit of energy doing that, and maybe weren't quite as effective 5 on 5. VV's line did pretty good, and Oshie's line had one of the best performances in the past month. Oshie did a lot of good things tonight. Obviously, the goal at the end of the 1st was huge to get us tied back at 1. We said before, UAA is strong down below, and they generated some opportunities off their cycle. They made some good plays and beat us a few times, but when we got beat, Phil was there. He had a good game. Nice touch pass by Genoway on Trupp's goal. He was questionable as he wasn't feeling well since last night, but he made a nice play and Evan made a nice play tucking it up top. I thought Kozek PP unit did a great job. 2nd period, they went out and just started shooting the puck, and they were very effective tonight. There's very little room for separation in tonight's game, and we stayed with it. You know they're not going to give up, and they'll be back strong tomorrow night. We need to come out strong too.

Have to give it to him, for playing his first collegiate game, Christianson played pretty well. Goes down to early, but kept his team in it for most of the game. If I were UAA coach, I'd give him a go again tomorrow night.
-
Nice win for the Sioux. Kozek and Oshie with good games. Keep them together at least for another night! Trupp with a beautiful goal too! Let's go for 7 in a row tomorrow night boys!!!
-
UAA goalie back in, at least for the faceoff.

UAA pulls goalie. Whose he think he is, Blais??

Wow, St. Clown self-destructed there!
