I do too. If the night goes bad, that's the reason why!
-
Sioux wearing kelly green uniforms tonight.
-
Exactly. It's becoming the norm. Teams that win the NC are going to need great leadership from their Sophomores, because the Juniors and Seniors will be very limited.
-
Hope the Sioux give you a great B-day present with another big WIN!!!!
-
Woog just said, "I like the DOT line!"
-
Frazee in net tonight.
-
He did that most of the first half of the season, he's not due yet! Here, here! I'm all for that!!!!
-
I agree, let's not make it only a "Black Friday" for the Goofs, but a "Black Saturday" as well!
-
Looks like it to me, but who knows this week!
-
Perhaps they've changed them somewhat, because I know when they first came out in the WJ's a few years ago, and the Olympics in '04, the players hated them.

It did kind of look like that. Briggs was well under him, but his left elbow to make the motion that appeared like he was trying to make connection with Briggs if possible. The more I watch that replay, the more I think Kaip was deserving of that penalty. I have to quit analyzing each questionable call!

Maybe I'm thinking of another, but the one clear chance I remember, the Gopher defenseman made a nice open ice hip check. I've watched the game 3 times, and hit rewind a few times on that, as PCM said Oshie was tripped, but looking back on it, it was a very nice open ice hit.

I'm betting on Frazee. There's no reason not to start him, with his performance the past two weeks. I do think that Johnny ought to wear his Team Canada #29 jersey, just to haunt him though!

Where I don't think Campion is the best ref by any means, and a few of the calls last night were questionable (though 2 of the penalties were called by the AR), I didn't think he favored the Gophers too much. A lot of the penalties last night were because of how wired the Sioux were. They were very into that game, and played the Gophers very tight, which sometimes led to too tight. The Gophers have a very quick team this year, and a lot of teams are trying to hold or hook them to slow them down, and they're being called for it. Yes, they get away with their share of non-calls, and it has seemed like those non-calls have come at the most crucial time in a game, but overall, I think the skill level of the Gophers is causing other teams to take the penalties. Okposo draws quite a few, just like Oshie does for us. I guess I'd rather see the refs call the clutching and grabbing than letting it go on, which does not allow fans to see a good team. The Gophers remind me of the late 90 Sioux teams, however then, SCSU continually clutched and grabbed and got away with it. Can't have it both ways. We got the win last night. Fans will always find something wrong with the ref. It usually comes from the losing teams fans more than the winning teams fan, but in this case, Campion made it obvious to everyone that we were the better team last night, by putting us on the PK for 11 times, compared to the Gophers 6 times.

He had 3, but we'll forgive him as he had the shorty that switched the momentum.
-
They did have 4 penalties in the 3rd, and it did look like they weren't skating as well the first half of the 3rd, so I'd agree with your assessment to a certain degree. The thing I really liked tonight was how tenacious the penalty kill was throughout the game. That was a tremendous difference in this game.

Gorden will be back tomorrow night, but I thought Lucia said they've got a few injuries as well.
-
Gophers will definitely be tougher tomorrow night (I hope not, but I'm thinking they've got to be). In all reality, Sioux really took them out of their game tonight with their tenacious play. We just have to eliminate some of the penalties, and play the same game tomorrow night.
-
Maybe he'll have a penalty shot!
-
It comes into play. They look at winning percentage of opponents, so it helps since Minnesota has such a good winning percentage.
-
I came in wanting 2. Now that we've got that, let's go for all of them!!!

Hak postgame comments: Excellent effort. Was going to take my shoes off to start counting penalties. First 10 minutes of the game, we played well, but got back on our heels after the 2nd goal. Bina's 1st goal was huge. Able to create a lot of loose pucks by using our feet. Pushed and pressured them to create turnovers. Fabian's goal was a real lift for the bench. Goal off the faceoff. Really energized us. Penalty killing can gas us. Got fortunate tonight. Didn't allow their PP to get rolling. Energizing effect with those kills. Not going to fault our guys on all the penalties called, that's all I'll say. Kaip's line was one of the better one's tonight. Got reasonable contributions from everyone. Need to be better tomorrow night, and we can get better. Can't sit back and enjoy it, have to prepare for game 2. All we look forward to is tomorrow night's game. Lammy played tremedous. Can't go 2 for 11 on PK without great goaltending. Okposo cut in in the 2nd and Phil made a huge save.

According to my numbers, Sioux had 12 penalties and the Goofs had 7.
