  1. Great $155,000 for a unproven coach who has only coached high school basketball before this year.  I guess $155,000 for a 2-19 record is deserved.  $155,000 doesnt buy what it used to :silly:  Jory Collins at NDSU has the same salary and he has turned around that team in year two.  We will see what our coach will do....  BUT she is a former player and UND alum who was recommended by Coach Roebuck I am sure everything will be ok.

After reading through both DAE and A. Moody's twitter feeds, I am thinking neither was a huge loss.  I was pretty excited to finally get a couple ND kids at UND when they signed.  Upon further review, ND kids may not be the asset I once thought they were..........

Agreed and I was a supporter of local kids playing here.   Really shows no class PR did it the right way by explaining why he left. Class act and im gonna miss him playing.   That one leaving was a tough one for me... I think he did alot for the community too.

Do you think it was a typo and he meant "snubbed" on twitter by the coach? His heart was never in it at UND, as evidenced by his initial de-comittment.  Some guys don't do well within a system that requires discipline and accountability when they are used to having everyone around them tell them how great they are.

It might be a typo, but even snubbed on twitter wouldnt make sense.  Snubbed on twitter?  I agree with that Desean never really lived up to his potential while he was here.  I had alot of hope for him after the first year, but this year he looked to timid and wasnt a asset on the defensive end.

  4. Desean posted this on his twitter account a few weeks ago.  Any insight on what it means?  Is there more turmoil in the locker room then we know? What did he mean subbed on twitter by coach?  I never seen anything from Coach Sather on twitter about him.

My physical health was being neglected and so was I as a player-person. I left and was being subbed on twitter by the coach! I can’t keep quiet no more though! I’m happy and progressing. Sometimes in life your right trust yourself and be able to identify the bad things in life

I sure hate see Zander leave and other two recruits i think they didn't see much playing time so they probably looking for a place where they can get more playing time and wouldn't be surprised if they drop down a level. The loss of Zander is type of player  we need to have on this team to rebuild it back to what it was not good sign to come for basketball program. Well with loss of these three players and three seniors this year we should have pretty good idea how well she does recruiting plus if its true Keplin is gone we will have turn over of 7 players for next year and then add in Lane girl and Wallace signed last year this team will pretty much be made up girls she recruited. I wonder if were not going to see more in the portal  before next season.  I was thinking we could rebound back sooner but now were looking at total rebuild and usually takes couple of years to get program built so we could see us at bottom conference for couple of years.  Tom Izzo stated on his show that Chaves didn't want to have three coaches in three years for the program because he wanted stability but this may come back to haunt him he has two women's programs that are starting at bottom for next year and when he was hired both of the programs were at top conference and in three years there at the bottom of the conference. I sure hope this works out but  task is getting harder as things play out.

He wouldn't have 3 coaches in 3 years if he had the balls to look nationally for a new coach last year.  Now we lost arguably our best player.   When is Chaves job on the watch ?

  6. Looks like Aldi Grocery store is coming to Grand Forks in the old Hornbackers building.  Some good news on a new business coming to town.  I will welcome the competition and low prices.  I have shopped several times at the one in Fargo and really liked it.

I think she will keep who she has but I have a feeling that she may add another assistant.

So we fire our coach Brewster.  Then we make his assistant coach Bernard the interim coach instead of a national search then.    She wins 2 games with basically the same team that got 6th in the league the year before.  We miss out on the summit league tournament this year.  We have a national search for a new coach and we end up with the assistant coach of the coach we fired and who won 2 games....  Sorry I know I need to let this go and support the coach, the difference between me and the homer fans on here, if they dont do well they become irrelevant to me.  I so wanted to be able to go cheer on a good women's team too...  I am not going to watch a 2 win team that looks terrible, ill go down the interstate a few miles and watch NDSU.  They did it right with their new hire and he is proving it in year 2.

    This is a good sign

Again another Homer comment that only someone who played at UND or was a coach at UND can be hired at UND.  Any influence from a coach from over a decade ago should not matter other then a character reference.    This philosophy maybe worked in D2 but its not going to work with D1 when there is a lot more competition.   I am new UND fan and never went to the school here,  so i am looking at it from a outsiders position.

  9. I still feel Chaves has made two questionable hires with UND Volleyball and Women's basketball teams.  Both hires were assistant coaches and both have struggled.  I guess time will tell if they were right or not.  I don't want to see UND go down the same path as NDSU women's basketball....

Present roster has 4 girls from ND; 8 girls from MN; 1 from Iowa. Considering there aren’t that many DI players from ND, that seems pretty local.

I think he is talking about all the new scholarship offers are going to Michigan girls.  The current roster was recruited by Coach Brewster.  The 5 freshman were heralded as the future of UND basketball and I think they took a step back this year other then Megan Zander

The head coach makes all recruiting decisions including who to talk to, who to offer, right down to how many days a staff can recruit.
Assistants can have a big impact on whether a kid comes to a school but they don’t decide who to recruit.

So you are saying all the Michigan girls we have offered scholarships to over the past year had nothing to do with Assistant Coach Motherwell who is a native of Michigan? Coach Bernard made the decision to talk to all those girls?   I don't believe that a assistant coach has no say in the recruiting of a player, yes the head coach has the final say on who gets the scholarship.  If an assistant coach doesn't want to offer or does want to offer I believe their opinion matters to the head coach.  Just like I believe Coach Bernhard had her say on recruits on the current team.

  12. I cant believe all the homers on this page.  Coach Bernard had a hand in recruiting these players.  She also had a year of coaching a team that pretty much was the same team as the previous year with another year of experience.  Yet the record was one of the worse records in UND history.  I am sure Coach is a good person and a great basketball legend at UND, but that doesn't mean she is a good coach.   UND needs to take this opportunity to get fresh blood in here to maybe have recruiting connections outside of this region.  If they don't take this opportunity for a fresh start this could hold us back years from progressing with the other schools in the summit league.

If you look at the experience between what Coach Kallhoff has done in his career compared to Coach Bernhard.  It shouldnt even be a close decision.  The only reason she gets this position is because she is a UND alum and (no offense here) female.    If you go by experience he gets the job.  She coached high school basketball, assistant coach at the school she played for.  Then one year as interim coach and ended up with one of the worst records in school history.

Though it’s tough to be overly confident with our two win team we have had spurts of good play. I agree we win both and we win by at least 20 both games.

You have to be kidding me :silly: We are going to be lucky to come out with two wins let alone 20 point wins.  :whistling:

I think its a fair criticism when UND should be trying to build its fan base.  The schedule doesn't say ESPN3/+ to let people know that it will at least be on one of those services, and the game notes imply that there is no streaming option: "For the first time since Nov. 30, 2019, North Dakota football is set to take the field against Southern Illinois on Saturday afternoon from the Alerus Center. Fans can watch the contest on MidcoSN with Alex Heinert and Ryan Kasowski on the call or tune into the Home of Economy Radio Network with Jack Michaels and Tom Dosch."

Fans who are indiferent arent going to look any deeper than that.  Its UND's responsibility to get the word out - its called marketing.

Agreed.  And one step further.  I have been looking daily on ESPN at their schedule for Saturday and the game is still not listed.  Not sure how much more you can do for looking up the information then going to the site that is suppose to have the game televised.

  15. Western Illinois beat NDSU one game this year.  I think the Hawks are going to be lucky to win one this weekend.  They dont play Omaha until the last series of the year.  This could determine which team makes the tournament or not..

  16. I watched all the games last year and watched in person most of them.  I could tell that Aanen got in Sather's doghouse right away.  So of course it was a mutual decision.  But what I want to know is what he did to get in that doghouse?  He brought in a bunch of defensive guys but has no one that can shoot.  I love Brady Danielson and his determination and grit, but he cant hit a open shot.  This team could use one guy that can hit a bucket and maybe isn't great on defense.  Obviously defense doesn't win games.   So I think he DID "get away".  Not to mention he is a North Dakota kid, cut him some slack.

  17. I wasnt sure where to post this, but I see Aanen Moody scored 17 points on 6 of 8 shooting and 5 of 7 from 3 point land.   I still dont know how we let a North Dakota kid that can shoot the ball get away?  I get he was not great on defense.  This years team seems to be improved on defense but they cant hit the broadside of a barn with their shooting. Especially from the 3 point line.   Sure would be nice to have him back knocking down 3's to open it up with PR.
