Did they have 10 on D?
-
I was hoping defensively they would be better prepared for an athletic QB that can run,” but that was just a dream, that was just a dream and now we have to win in a shootout, we have to score more points than them.” REM melody hit me during in the quotation marks.

These guys scored 17 against Butler….
Maybe Butler had lots of Seniors and Grad students….(my attempt at sarcasm)

Defense has to be much better if we are to beat the farm school.
For the present need to play much better today!!!

The crowd helped on stopping that series.

Looks like offense came ready to play. Defense let’s settle down and get the ball back!
-
Crowd should get us doing….
expecting - 3 score win
Hoping - plenty of backups get quality reps
Demanding - keep attacking with backups in

I think teams are deathly afraid of his 11 rushes for 10 yards the last two weeks
My hope (it is a hope) we see more QB runs in the bigger games. NDSU typically in the past did not run the QB unless it was against a better team. There was a few times during the few games where it looked if he kept the handoff he could hit the edge and get some yards.

Mad Simon is better than Bad Simon.
Any Simon is better than over thinking and hesitant Simon.

I will try not be too critical, but if we cannot be more effective with the pass. Good teams will load the box and not worry about the pass game, because their corners will be more athletic than what we have seen so far this year.
Danny with Tommy was effective enough with the pass that kept teams from loading up the box because even on 3rd and 3 teams knew we could still pass the the first.
On the positive, I like the twisting we are doing in defense, San Diego has beef and bull rushing beef is not a good recipe.
Lastly the players (or coaches) have to play to win the game. We look like we are and playing not to lose.
-
If we don’t get our crap together we will be like the 2017 N Arizona team that lost to San Diego 41-10 in the first round of the playoffs!

From watching on TV, the energy remind me of the ISU Blue game last year. Offense needs do do something, so defense can get their crap together!
-
My guess is we may end the first quarter up 14-7 because the clock will move fast with us establishing the running game. We then break some big plays and win 51-17.

I know Simon had some (some will say several) one hopped throws, maybe the coaches will try what Cleveland did for Rube Baker to get him to throw back to the pitcher.
I thought to add some humor on a Monday.

It’s a major gripe of mine with him. It’s not new to Jerry.
I also am perplexed on this not putting back up QB in, I remember Roger Thomas keeping the starting O-Line with the back up QB and go a least a series before subbing more O-Line. Great opportunity for live reps with starting o-line.

SDSU had 3 TO and scored 11 points more than UMary did against Augustana today. Our win is over all way better SDSU’s IMO.

Anyone know the winning percentage when the Alerus has more than 10,000?
Since 2006 (UND site has no data of older that I saw)
Bubba 11 - 3 and 26-7 in other home games
Muss 5-2 and 18-10 in other games (note early days we had several poor teams for home games
D1 Eea 16-5 and 44-17
D2 games since 2006 5-1 in 10,000 plus games
so since 2006 UND is 21-6 in games of 10,000 plus crowd.

Other teams make their luck, confidence and effort is good recipe with a sprinkle of the opposition playing not to lose.
-
The pass that was INT on the tunnel screen, wasn’t totally on him because of the quick timing of it, that pick the OC could also be blamed because earlier ISU blew that play up.
I still feel Jerry will get his time either packaged in or if Simon gets dinged up, we are running more things through Simon and having him run more. Coaches would not do that if there is not a quality backup. SDSU has two JR QB’s on roster I believe and they did not leave last year. (SDSU’s success helps), if we make playoffs and make a deep run, Jerry and others will likely stay IMO especially if we have blowout games where he can get meaningful reps.

No let up D, let’s get a pick 6 and get over 50 by half!
