  1. I look at NDSU they kept number of better players this past year and what has been said they found  NIL money  to keep them for another year. Then we had number of young talented players last year we lost everyone of them. I look at this team what would we look like if we could have kept talent of Ibrahim and Horne with existing group having 6’3” post player with Demers and then add 6’1” off guard to this group now with some our new young players this team would be able to compete. We would be better rebounding offensively and Hughes and Volmer would be much better driving to basketball wouldn’t have teams being able to let there post players come off to help they would have respect our posts more. If we’re going to bring talented portal player now it’s going to take some NIL money. I don’t like it either but division I if you want to play in post season and have winning program it’s pay to play it’s not what college sports was just 5 years ago and unless corruption seeping into it forces change this is what it’s going to take to compete.

  2. Montana would push SDSU and NDSU if not win our conference they are big athletic if they play up to their potential if they can get past Montana state they will be good representative in ncaa or WNIT tournaments. We couldn’t match up with them at all they were nearly as big at guards as the we are at center. There girls are under listed for size  when you see them compared to our girls.  They are mature team you see it physicallly and how they played. The score what I was afraid it would be. The trip Montana State I even fear more that will be another big team but quicker than one we played tonight. The positive we are getting better performance out Volmer and miller inside and Fletcher showed enough why they recruited her and same with Ohnstad but both are going to need a lot of work before expect big minutes from them. That is problem with this team we’re playing playrts more minutes than we should with a lot of these players instead of bringing them along giving them time to develop their talent. This is going to be tough rebuild especially the way college basketball is now facilities need to be upgraded, Finding NIL money pick up immediate help, and everyone saying how many people want this job but if your up coming coach you need program where administration is willing to invest to win I don’t see it we are now in worse position than SU was 5 years ago and with portal and NIL influencing things even building with high school recruits difficult to keep now especially if you don’t start winning right away.

  3. I look at Big Sky challenge for women’s basketball see we get both Montana's who are picked one and two in the Big Sky. I get it don’t get better playing poorer talent but I also think we need to get few games where our girls can build some confidence before conference season builds. Playing Montana State at home is going to be loss and I hope we can keep it respectable. SDSU past few years have even lost out there by double digits this year we just don’t have talent and size to match up with them especially with this young team we have playing. My question is this scheduling done by us or by summit conference in who we get to play I see NDSU plays one of Montanas but get more even road game but SDSU both games  winnable games. Like say this schedule we don’t have may cupcakes on the schedule. We have lost couple games that we had good chance to win the game but this is going to be long season my hope is we keep improving and developing number of these girls for the future. Administration needs to step up provide more resources to help build this program recruiting players and then retaining our players.

  4. Kaminski will need to have zero symptoms to start next week and very few to play. I was looking at protocols for ncaa six stages to clear and each stage requires 24 hrs to pass big thing there are several days of no practice or restricted practice which is quite important when preparing for new opponent. Especially for quarterback to get reps in for next game and it being road game and major travel game. I suspect he will be cleared to play but will be ready to play and do they risk playing him if he is not ready to play.  This is my thought but we will see how things progress this week.

  5. I watched some of the game the turnovers are problem with majority of them caused by stopping or getting them selves to deep and allowing other team to trap them or make poor pass. A lot of this to do with a team mostly made up young players and our experienced players all being undersized for their positions. This undersized players in our offense makes difficult when we’re running that weave at top key and trying to create screen roll opportunity. We have shot the ball a little better but we need to start hitting our shots better and getting better looks and we also need to rebound better offensively to many one done trips.  I still think they are getting better but this as I have been saying going to be long season. We must have some injuries now with few players haven’t seen much court time lately. I don’t think we realized last year how bad team chemistry was last year and how Hutter is trying to change team chemistry this year. All this is going to take time rebuild Brewster and Berhard just ran this program right into the ground. I tired of people talking looking like DI coach what hell that means more importantly is institution supporting the program like DI program. This determines the quality of players were able to recruit and keep here.

  6. Romfo never had the receivers to throw to that kamiski has had throw too he only had Bo to throw to and he didn’t throw number of interception he has thrown ether especially going down the stretch. Just for record Kamiski is going to be good quarterback for UND but he has improved fast enough through the season as opponents have thrown new looks at him as season progressed. He is at point now he needs to make final jump where he can make defense pay when they making changes or schemes against our offense. That has been big difference in why NDSU has been so successful. I think Randy Hedberg had a lot to do with there outstanding quarterback play we need to find coach for our quarterbacks to move them to this next level

  7. Another year shot down the drain trouble with sophomore quarterback to much pressure coming down the stretch . We haven’t made big play to win a ball game against a good football team. No matter what anybody wants to say we have enough talent to win football games but something is just missing here in this program to find ways to win big football games. This year offense wasn’t able to control games and last year it was the defense.  Finally I think it comes down to we are just not deep enough as team I hope Schmidt can improve upon that in next couple of years but we will see how that develops in coming year may not be able retain him on how defense has improved in one year.

  8. If he is not fully healed he could risk having permeant injury and I don’t know but could he get medical redshirt to come back. Also possible has chance at playing professionally would risk this playing hurt that could end all possible chance to play in future. I could be wrong but still think mind games for UND. I guess we see about 30 minutes.

  9. If his injury is lisfranc I see healing time is six to eight weeks and can be longer depending on severity and can have lifetime issues if not properly healed continued injury can occur. My feeling they made such mistake in not just stating he was out for regular season let team move on not still be limbo with calling day to day from the beginning. SDSU football depth after Rodger’s left has shown up and I believe it going to take several years to get back to where they were. Still dangerous team still enough talent to win if things go your way.

  10. Much better effort today better defense and better shot selection. They matched up much better with Wyoming in size today than previous matchups. Also Ava Miller gave them much more presence down low today. Hutter had Hughes play more minutes to set offense and defense for the team. The true freshmen  are showing flashes of Their ability they are learning but still a lot of growth yet needed in these players. This still needed win and gives these girls some confidence going forward but they to continue to have success if they play defense, rebound, shoot good from free throw line and finally control the basketball by cutting down on turnovers. If they do that consistently they will be most ball games.

  11. The top DI talent is in freshmen  and sophomores on this team but none of these players have much playing time teams they. Have been playing all have experienced lineups so we are going to look overmatched. Hutter didn’t bring many experienced transfers which many on here think that is way to go it may be future of recruiting but I don’t think so in lower mid majors. We don’t have NIL money to bring in the talent to play here. We need to develop talent from high school level and have enough money in our NIL money to retain most of talent we develop and want to be here.  The comment on being on social media to much is cheap shot and goes against what head coaches job today in college basketball coaches need to promote and have presence in area to create interest and help in recruiting. This is going to be long year for us Sutter job is to develop these young players and yes we’re going to look bad but upper class players here are just average at best players and most of them undersized each of them are here to finish careers and help teach work ethic and competitiveness playing basketball all of them have shown that in their careers.  I just hope we develop enough by end of season we have beginnings of pieces to develop  competitive team in next year and future years but their a lot ifs in that because we’re dealing a lot young players and nobody knows how progression of these players turnout.

  12. The way I see it semi final games will be played in North Dakota and Montana and my hope is that we are seeded on other side of bracket I believe we’re going to play on road no matter what if we’re going reach that far in playoffs. I believe top four or 5 teams are from Valley and Big Sky right now. I think if majority of these other conferences played in either of these conferences would be sitting number of losses and would be banged up badly. Right now power of FCS is upper Dakotas and Big Sky. If we had press of other conferences now they would be talking how number of teams are capable playing FBS football of lower tier of FBS. The politics of playoffs is they are going to keep number of these other conferences guaranteeing several reach as far they can in playoffs is. That was reason for when UND outbid for home game it’s politics of balancing that keep conferences getting deeper in playoffs we are hurt because we’re close to NDSU in playoffs and my betting is this year NDSU athletics will want us out in Montana’s so only they could meet us in championship. Also other eastern and southern conference don’t want to travel to Montana and play in cold weather pretty much guaranteed playing indoors NDSU and USD.

  13. The talent on this team is in freshmen and sophomores but they are overmatched with these teams right now. Second we are under sized at 4 and 5 positions and we’re not quick enough to play man to defense against their 4 and 5.  Third Hutter must see this we are going to left by our guards 85% of time. We need to start left and finish on the right. The sad part is Pemberton, Horne and Ibrahim would have averaged near or  above 18 pts a game with Hutter style of basketball and number of these girls playing now would have been better performances. I see that Hutter has recruited potential post player for next year. Finally transfers with exception miller girl and Hughes  were all projects that had potential but no immediate help for this year. This is going to be long year but but give some slack he recruited longterm not immediate help but this rebuild is going to take time. This tougher schedule Mal ever tried with very few cup cakes in schedule. I just hope it pays off as the season goes along and I think he going to start settling on smaller rotation of players but with youth of this team it just mean more people in rotation but not usually recipe for success.

  14. I didn’t get to watch last two games but what I have seen so far this is very inexperienced team I have seen . Demers has experience but what I call betweener she plays center but little undersized and from last year she plays defense and rebounds well enough but she struggles offensively when she matched larger number 5s. Aumer works hard in all phases of game and is streak shooter but she is sometimes half step slow playing defense. Hughes is quick, smart player but again little undersized. Piekny and Mathern look to develop into better players but both need to develop both are sophomores. The other two playing significant minutes are true freshmen not good scenario but show a lot of talent. Same can be said for transfer most were highly regarded recruits but don’t have significant playing time. Then there is Miller girl appears to have talent and experience it showing up in the box scores. What I am seeing now from box score we are controlling boards and playing some defense, and they are hitting there free throw. The next step is for the team to cut turnovers can’t win games giving ball like we have. Finally these players are going to need to step up find shots they  can make and gain some confidence in there shooting. From last years team that competed in summit conference tournament we have only one starter back in Aumer she was not star of that starting group. Demers was injured at end of the season so she was not part of last years run of team in tournament. Bernhard lost that team last year because we heard rumblings on team chemistry and administration didn’t address so we lost those nine players and then Bernhard resigned after we lost all those players this all left to Hutter trying to keep what you have left and find players for next year. Hutter had very little input on players that were here on last years team majority were recruited or committed before he signed up last year. What I saw his impact last years team was most prepared team Berhard ever at UND had but it still Bernhard team in she had her favorites not creating team concept or team chemistry. This is going to be long season and we will see how Hutter develops these young players if we progress and he is able to recruit more talent to add to this team he deserves chance to build a program even at Mayville his first three seasons we’re not that great but after that he had very good 11 seasons. Bernhard was given better program to start with and never came close to getting us better than little better than 500 seasons. In fact her tenure her winning percentage around 35% and nothing was done about it.

  15. This tale of opposites for UND last year offense delivered pretty consistently but defense couldn’t stop opposing teams. This year the offense has sputtered large chunks of season especially against top tier teams. Jerry as quarterback is struggling right now and I hate to say it his youth is showing through right now and good teams are taking advantage of it right now. UND offense depends on quarterback to make right reads and be able recognize what defenses are throwing at us. This is why he didn’t get much playing time last year but he is going to be successful quarterback but we’re living through his growing pains. There are very few successful young quarterbacks in FCS  and especially ones that are expected to throw ball number of times to make offense go. Everyone is going to blame offensive coordinator for Jerry’s  problems but this is simple knee jerk reaction but this is more need of playing time and learning curve for both to get right plays called or that will work. Deep programs usually always have junior senior at quarterback and somebody like Jerry playing number of snaps as sophomore be leader when they become junior/senior.  This old school was what Bubba was doing last year but sSchmidt looked saw upgrade in physical and athletic ability but quarterback is just not athletic ability it’s also the knowledge which just going to take time with Jerry. The problem with all this is now NLI money and ability transfer all hard work finding develop players you are constantly looking for players and developing new players hoping you retain enough to win championship. It could be worse we could be SDSU now three deep on quarterback plus number of other players.

  16. I hate how we now have stats guys giving percentage on situationally on whether to kick ball or go for it. We have this in baseball now and far as I am concerned has ruined game. There’s something to playing longterm smart play in sports that has been done for years. This year two of bigger games we have went for it against very good teams and it has cost us dearly. The first was at Montana we had kicked field goals instead of going for it we would have won. Yesterday kicking field goals would have changed game also we would have been up 4 points changing  how NDSu would have looked at going for it on fourth down because they wouldn’t have been looking at only needing a field goal to go ahead but would need to drive football for touchdown.  I know if we make it and score we bury them and have all momentum but if we fail like we did gives them confidence they know can beat us because we’re not confident enough we can prevent them from scoring touchdown. Also puts pressure on them they have to travel length of field to beat us and we would still then be in position to beat them with only a field goal. I just think getting points is so important and maintaining momentum that we are scoring when we have the football coming away with nothing is worst thing. Finally it takes away from special teams confidence and puts all pressure on both defense and offense because I believe special teams account for at least 20% of wins in college football. That is my opinion  but I am sure there number of other opinions but right now couple more wins look where we would be and where we would be setting up for the playoffs.

  17. I thought we showed our youth tonight making poor decisions and taking poor shots plus I can see rushing our shots. Demers also tried to much carry team offensively late in game instead of working ball in and kicking it out. Also thought refereeing called a lot of carring basketball which created several turnovers only thing calls were equally bad both ways. We need to develop more post play from one of new players can see this will priority in pre conference season. Bottom line though the loss of number of players show we are in rebuilding mode and this is going to continue with five or six seniors on the team.  The loss of talent we had on last years team if they had returned we had chance to push SDSU this year but that’s over now we have to build with girls we have now. On paper we look to have added players that can again develop into quality team but it’s going to take time. I expected some better 3 point shooting but has to come from players having confidence in their shooting and getting themselves set up to take shots they know they can make. Hutter and his staff a lot of work to teach and work finding to bring out strengths in this team. My hope by end of season we can make run at some of teams in the conference.

  18. Yesterday number of teams struggled to win or lost so what is up and I think we have reached mid season part of the season where all teams are playing banged up and opponents are taking advantage of these weaknesses. In FCS replacements we see usually fall off in number twos and threes but in number FCS teams these reserves are freshman and sophomores they get better as they play especially on top teams. We saw this couple season go with SU we beat them but they became better team by end of the season. I think we can get better and hopefully we get couple players back. I don’t think SU will not be up for us if they beat us they are assured of going undefeated for the season and will play at home for the playoffs. If we beat them like I have said before it’s going to take perfect game by us and they giving up couple plays like turnover or special teams score. The sad thing about yesterday’s loss pretty much puts us on road for the playoffs when we could have been home until semifinals.

  19. This was team loss and team I bet you was more than focused on SU this coming everyone thought we would beat this team. I don’t care what anybody thinks but instead of taking care of business we got distracted and South DAkota came out punched in the mouth further throwing us off our game. Coaches can say and get on players but if team get distracted there’s not much you can change coaches and player almost got it back but that has been difference between us and SU they have enough talent to come back game like this. That is why they have won like they have. We have enough talent to beat them but we will need nearly perfect game. We’re far ahead of where I thought we would be in first year but I still think our time is coming in next couple of years if we can retain our players and our coaching stafff.

  20. I see our transfer from South Dakota announced she tore her ACL so I wish her healthy recovery always devastating news for athlete. Addison Klosterbuer we will look forward to seeing you next year and again our prayers for quick and healthy recovery.

  21. What is it when we get to South Dakota we start playing stupid we’re beating our selves. Making dumb plays and taking stupid penalties getting beat on special teams. I thought we had turned corner on this but it’s back.

  22. I have question why doesn’t grand forks ever gets high school football playoffs at alerus I see Fargo Dome has both nd and MN section playoffs this year. I would think having one of these events would be good for Grand Forks and I would think UND would like it too having good high school teams right in town to watch and recruit possible new players right here without traveling.
