New BB Assistant, John Motherwell, has been busy trying to make inroads in his native Michigan.  2019-20 offers:

    • PG Aaliyah Nye, 5'9", East Lansing (East Lansing), MI  Has numerous offers including Marquette
    • C Kayla Gray, 6'2", Wayne (Memorial), MI
    • F Keziah Buggs, 5'11", Auburn Hills (Avondale), MI

Nice to see we are expanding our recruiting area.  SDSU and USD do well recruiting Iowa, Nebraska, and southern Minnesota.  Some years the state of North Dakota just doesn't have any Division 1 recruits.

  2. Summit league played their softball tournament over 4 days while the Big Sky planned theirs over 3 days.  I am not sure what the Big Sky conference was thinking about when they know weather, lack of lights, and a 6 team double elimination tournament is hard to pull off over 3 days.  Tough way for UND and the other 2 teams to have their seasons end that way.

  3. Matt Mooney posted this on his tweeter account after changing coaches at USD:

I have been give my release from South Dakota. I am not for sure leaving USD, but I will be exploring my options as a grad transfer.

  4. Nice win to take 2 of 3 over Portland State.  We have gotten better over the past 2 seasons.  We have 7 one run losses this year.  With a little luck we would have a winning record.

  5. We had 14 players on the roster this year and lose one senior in Franklin leaving us with 13 players.  I am assuming Dooley is on a volleyball scholarship so that means we have 12 on scholarship now.  We are bringing in 4 freshmen - Rachel Garvey, Clarie Orth, Tia Nicholson, and Jaclyn Jarnot - which brings us to 16 players with 15 available scholarships.  It would appear to me some one is transferring out.

  6. Looks like Jaclyn at 6-1 is a better prospect than the 5-7 Alaina(her shooting stats were not good at Monmouth).  Alaina appears to be more of a pass first shoot second guard.  My only concern is did we have to offer both sisters to get one(similar to the Dailey sisters).  Was UND the only Division 1 offer to Jaclyn since most of the other top seniors declare after their junior high school season?

    45 points?!

Not having Fallyn Freije playing due to an ankle sprain really hurts the offense.  Sawatzke, Dailey, and Reinke took the ball to the basket in the first half and got some baskets but stopped penetrating in the second half.  We tried to feed Klabo in the post in the second half and turned the ball over too much.  We just physically do not have the athletes that USD and SDSU have.  They can take the ball to the hole with either hand plus shoot from the outside.  Our players are a bit too one dimensional.  On the good side we did play decent defense for 3 quarters.  The third quarter was a disaster, leaving open three point shooters.  For some reason Brewster does not have us playing a zone full court trap or double teaming when we trail late in games.  We just play a vanilla man to man full court which doesn't created any turnovers.  Listening to the Northern Colorado announcer was painful on Pluto, he was complaining so much about the officials.
