Kessel as an 06 recruit??? Well it is hard to argue with the neighbor factor but I wonder where Kessel would play next year before putting on the maize and blue jersey for the 2006/2007 season cosidering this is his 2nd year on the USNDT?

The gophers are far and away the best team in the nation RIGHT NOW. The Sioux have plenty of time to close that gap. And besides its usually not the best team that wins that national championship. It's the one that can get 4 strait in the spring. There is a history that Minnesota tends to choke in the playoffs. All they need is a motivating speech from Woog and its over.
Having just called the gophers "the best team" makes me feel so dirty.

After seeing what I saw of Minnesota.
How could UAA ever beat Minnesota?

Saturday wasn't much fun to watch. But I expect the team will improve.
I think maybe we were spoiled in Maine and led to temporarily forget how young the Sioux are. A full WCHA season will leave the Sioux once again in a position to win #8 (though I'm sure Minnesota will be better as well).
I think the Sioux could stand to watch alot of video of Minnesota's powerplay. Every year Minnesota has a good power play. We can't we?
It is nice though to be "disappointed" with a split of one of the best programs in hockey. It speaks to the quality we see year in and year out.

I watched the game on Fox and that was tough to watch. Always better when the Green wins though (especially in a Gopher bar). Fox had some real idiots on graphics though. Constatnly putting up incorrect powerplay details.
The game really was evenly matched. The shots look lopsided because you can get alot of shots 5x3. Parise played OK, he was not as sharp as in Maine. The Gophs had three inside pipes, including 1 that went pipe, crossbar, and out. They also had one that was pulled of the goal line.
Now that there are no "Lundblums" Woog had Spirko to mispronounce. Greene's hit on smaagaard was great. Fox even gave it the hit of the game.
I thought the refereeing was descent. Many calls, but I thought it was even, obviously the number of 5x3s were not. But most of the extra penalties on the Sioux, I would have called. There were some weak calls both ways. I just hope that the refs stay with it for the whole season, because this will end the clutch and grab approach. Especially if the Sioux ever find a powerplay. In the end this will favor the Sioux and other teams that have the most skilled players.
Finally, nice shot by Genoway at the end. Briggs lost his jock on that one.

I do agree with returning that Sioux fight song whenever possible. It's a great piece of collegiate sport music.

at the X many times. You may not recognize the name but I'm sure you've heard the track. I only know this because a while ago I went on a mission to figure out what that track that I kept hearing was.

I think that we did keep the signs, though I didn't personally. I will be watching the game tonight with the guy who I think kept the signs. I will check and see if he still has them. I'll let you know if he still has it.
