  1. Some fans are leaving.  How can you pay for tickets and leave when the Sioux are playing their best hockey of the season.  Since I can't be in GF it makes me sick to my stomach

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

In their defense, pepper food is sooooo good...

  2. Tell me, is there a bigger hockey goon in the WCHA or anywhere else?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Listening to the Sioux game, yes, Marco Peluso. Keep that @$$h0le of the ice. Too bad we need Prpich on Thursday.

  3. As I watched the 2nd period of the Mavs vs. Gophers I saw Mike Vannelli take a guy down after the whistle and push his head into the ice.  The Mavs player skated into the crease but was skating away from the goalie who had frozen the puck.  To my astonishment Campion gave not only Vannelli a penalty but the Mavs player as well, but that is a topic for another thread.

I was at the game earlier this season when Vannelli instigated a fight against Rory McMahon, and McMahon beat the living day lights out of him.  Yes, McMahon did win that fight.  I have the video and McMahon clearly lands more punches.

Tell me, is there a bigger hockey goon in the WCHA or anywhere else?

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Well, um, by your own analysis, um, McMahon?:lol:

  4. Correct me if I am wrong, but are these stats correct for Fylling, Canady, Massen

    Fylling  35gp  10 pts

    Massen  32gp  4 pts

    Canady  27gp  3 pts

Those are three seniors who all have got significant playing time this year.  It is no wonder that the Sioux are struggling for a national tourney spot.

On the bright side, Rory Mcmahon has been solid.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Side note: What is with Fylling missing open nets this year? He had the keeper out of the picture Saturday in St. Cloud and shot it wide (missed by alot).

  5. Not sure what this adds to the figures thrown out but:

for the senior class 7 out of 8 players have skated in 30 or more games this year (BC 27, NF 34, QF 36, CG 35, MJ 36, JM 32, RM 33, AS 33)

while for the soph class 3 out of 7 players have skated in 30 or more games this year (RB 28, EF 18, SF 7, BM 21, CP 36, DS 33, MS 35)

It is nice to have BM back in the lineup.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Doh, I left my Sioux decoder ring at home.

  6. You could have made them yellow

Tough series, MDU likely needs to win the Broadmor to make the tourney, while several comparisons could tip against the Sioux if they lose 2 this weekend, possibly leaving them out of the NCAA's.

I like the current 3-2-1 bracketology, which would send the Sioux to Michigan with Denver, Dartmouth, and Bemidji St. Beat Dartmouth and probably get the chance for revenge vs. Denver.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes, and then no one could read it.

I see that Toews has caught Gergan for total points despite playing 4 less games.

#2, #3, and #11, not too bad... Kozak went on a tear the last week of the season to almost catch Reaney.

  9. That would be great. Just like that highly touted guy they had a couple of year ago that turned out to lay an egg.......lets see I think his name was Spehar.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I hate the Gophers but Kessel is no Spehar. The Gophers landed a great recruit. Of course, he won't win any championships with the Gophers on probation for his 1 or 2 years, for certain unnamed recruiting violations.:lol:

  10. Again, this is absolute BS. If a conference has 4 or more teams in the tourney, they should be represented in four brackets. NCAA, quit punishing the WCHA teams by making them play the only teams that can beat them (other WCHA teams) in the regionals. If we could have teams in 4 brackets, we could easily get 3 in the frozen 4.:lol::D

  11. Did anyone else see the ESPN story last weekend on JJ Redick from Duke?

And some people think the hockey fans at REA are bad???  The next time someone complains about our fans, we should show them the tape of that interview.

    Go SIOUX!

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I didn't see it. Please explain or if the story is still there please provide a link.

  12. For anyone who follows this stuff, this just shows how little USCHO's popularity poll really means...once again the Sioux aren't in the top 15 but currently sit at #8 in the PWR.

Damn East coast bias, they didn't even give us credit for our win and tie this week. :D:D

  13. I don't know how some of you guys can sit on here and say this kid isn't ready to play here next year?  100 points in a season? Setting up the game winner for all the marbles in double OT?  Give me a frekin break!!

I hope you all seen him at his best Sat afternoon when it was all on the line.  If not, you missed a great player make one hell of a play.

I hope the Sioux coaching staff can find a way to bring him in next year.  There's some dead weight on that team and they need  someone who can make big plays and contribute.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

He did look good. in the game and I have no doubt he could play next year, but there are some parts of his game that could use improvement. Skating and defensive positioning come to mind.

The 100 points means absolutely nothing as most of them came aginst vastly inferior competition. Some of the moves that he attempted in the final would have landed him flat on his back in the WCHA. I trust that Hak knew what he was doing when he recruited him as a 2006. Besides, I don't think that offense will be the issue next year.

  14. It's a terrific question, and Senja is a great example. Maybe the question in the case of someone like Oshie is how much ice time he would get. If the coaches think he might be on the bench for a lot of next year, then why not have him playing first line minutes and PP in the USHL?

Right now UND has 13 forwards, with 5 exhausting their eligibility and 5 coming in, leaving them with a projected 13 for next year. That's a little thin, IMO. I wonder if Oshie might be the back-up plan next year in case either Kaip's concussion problems continue to keep him out (which is sad on another level entirely) or Stafford moves on to the AHL.

Looking at the issue more currently, when both Bucks and Parise left, UND could have bolstered their roster by adding a 14th forward, Ryan Duncan. We'll see next year if he is able to score in college, but on a scoring-challenged team short of forwards, the BCHL's leading goal scorer might have helped this year.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

True, but Sparky was brought in late. I felt that he took the roster spot of Parise. Bochenski left so late it would have been difficult to get another player on board fast enough.
