wheeler may be your best player right now but i dont think his upside is what KO's is overall. there is a reason wheeler is still in school and thats because the coyotes fkd that pick up big time. no other reason at all. like ive said previously, its not wheelers fault he was picked #5 but when you are a boatload of expectations are placed on you shoulders right or wrong and he hasnt done much up until this season. will he end up being a nice player for phoenix? he may be but its taking them longer than anticipated to find out. carmen will be a nice addition but the loss of KO and stoa at the beginning really hurts

ok.........cris porter was a very late round draft pick. not considered a high nhl prospect by where he was drafted obviously. he didnt even sign with chicago who was the team who drafted him then st louis signed him and im sure chris knew he would end up in peoria which is the AHL tam of the blues. i never thought chris would be a everyday nhl player. that doesnt mean he can work his way up to get a few shots due to injury or what not but there is a HUGE difference between tj oshies prospect status and where chris porter was projected. chris was projected to be a 4 year player from day 1 he arrived at UND. very few players go to the NHL like i stated in my last post right out of college. again............toews, EJ ect are rare examples that are nhl ready tj will sign the day after the sioux play there last game. you can hope all you want, thats fine. my advise is enjoy him for the next 4 months. and sorry not to be a downer but chris porter wasnt a amazing player at UND , what he did by playing every game was amazing and he was a great captain and a hell of a player but AMAZING should be saved for a rare group in my eyes i dont think you have a idea on pro prospects and the nhl draft and all of that, im not being mean but the players you are throwing out dont make sense. bina is a senior and a undrafted player at that. he can move along to the minors for sure but hes not a nhl 1st rd prospect like tj oshie. phil as well. hes in that same boat as bina, get a crack in the minors and see what happens. duncan will get a nhl shot but he is also undrafted which makes him a free agent so he can sign with what team offers him the best opportunity hope this helps you make sense of things but when players are ready they need to move along to the next level and the sioux coaches have no problem with that as they expect it while recruiting top notch talent every season. same goes for many other top d-1 colleges

the AHL is a big step up from college hockey. im not saying what you heard is wrong but the AHL is half full of NHL caliber players and the other half will be career AHLers which isnt a bad thing. plus i would say 80% or maybe even higher of college players that go on to the pros end up playing in the AHL anyways for 1-2 years before getting your shot at the NHL. you can throw many sioux/gophers in this category from the last 6 years..probably a whole team worth... exceptions of course are toews, EJ, kessel ect.... snow is a idiot for saying what he said. hes a !@#!$ GM with a crappy team with some very crappy contracts, example - 15 year contract to their goalie resigning chris simon who is 1 more incident probably from getting the boot form the nhl. lucia made that 1 comment at first then im sure garth took it personal and made those comments with the help of KO the quitter.

or the coyotes scout convinced wayne that wheeler would be a nice suprise pick at #5 wheeler and tdon didnt have control on where wheeler was picked so that was just a fk up on the coyotes part. who knows on the chucko, that was another bad situation for donny. both programs have produced some very nice pros lately. i think toews will end up being the best from the pack. vanek is damn good and parise is right there as well. its fun looking back at drafts as there are always bad picks then always late picks that develop and make scouts look brilliant.
-
because they are ready to. it could be after your freshman or sophmore season as well. it shouldnt matter when they leave as long as they are ready. its pretty simple actually. for the top draft picks playing for the sioux or any top college is a stepping stone for them to improve for the pros. we are lucky to have tj back for 3 years so enjoy it and hopefully they make a ru at #8 which i think they will. have no clue wat you are referring to about leaving and wanting fame and fortune or to forget about college hockey. what?? lets see, if you are good enough you can go make a grip load of money and improve to get that 2nd contract that will set you up for life thats also a pretty simple decision. and your last point about, "well its not like hes quitting hockey" ....good observation he will move on like every season when players do to fulfill their dreams of playing in the NHL.

you are right, the rivalry will never fade. not sure what that was about.........and yes grieco did leave but there is no comparison between grieco and okposo and i know you didnt make that comparison. nhl vs major juniors. kids who want more playing time leave every year from colleges to go the junior route. kids hardly ever get sign mid season to a nhl team like KO

this is good, done buy a goph fan

inch mid season report - wcha bina gets some props inch review-unh mentions
-
exactly, no matter how you spin it it doesnt. the whole rah rah for the coach may work for a week or 2 then the lack of depth will still bite you. they are down 2 of their 3 best players pretty much for the season with losing stoa and okposo with the tough part of their schedule comng up. and minus 3 more of their top players gone to the WJT for a couple series.

rumor is budish is leaning towards umtc, i figured this with his famly ties to minny. if so good pick for them when he announces for sure. any info on schmidt out there? any northern minny kids standing out right away this season in highschool or any to keep a eye on?

you can hope all you want. just be realistic. the day after we win #8

75% of the time hockeybuzz.com is wrong but they had a little mention that okposo will report to bridgeport (ahl) after WJT. im assuming he wll get time in the nhl after bailing but i guess we will find out. hockey buzz Rink Rats! Islanders prospect Kyle Okposo will report to Bridgeport following the World Junior Championships. players rally behind lucia great comment "You've got to persevere. You've got to hang in there, and just the fact that it isn't working out, you know, you've got to kind of make the commitment to stay," said Minnesota Wild general manager Doug Risebrough to the St. Paul Pioneer Press on Friday. "I don't think it's the right message. Those decisions should all be done in the summer, and whatever decision you make, you stick with it, persevere with it, good or bad."

good points. thanks!
-
yeah that was my point considering his draft status
-
oh, for sure not worried about them and never will be just a very hot topic that should raise eyerows all over the college hockey world. im guessing the nhl and college will come to a agreement that will stop this in the future. a kid can get up and leave for the juniors if he wants but not the nhl. it will just prevent bad situations like this from happening. KO wanted out. we all know it. its pretty clear.

My summary on this situation -kyle realizes he never wanted to be in minny after not playing good so he makes the call or isles know it and call KO and he bails -he signs, lucia says in print that he was dissapointed that isles put KO on this position to sign to help kyle out -garth doesnt like the comment lucia made and kyle dishes dirt on lucia saying he didnt play me in right situation, blah, blah, blah -garth runs with those things that kyle says but acts like it was his words trying to take the heat off kyle overall for quitting -people call it bullshi% what garth says about lucia coaching because it that was the case the isles would have signed KO when he wanted to go this last summer but if he did that it was either WHL or go back to college and no pro contract so KO stays in minny for the meantime. this reaks of KO pulling many strings here as all of a sudden a college guy himself in garth critisizes lucias coaching abilities. -KO wanted no part of college this year and the isles said fine. come on in, we cant get any worse really -KO burns many in this situation, not a good way to do things
-
he been playing for them since right after the start of the sioux season for leksand. he worked out with the sioux then headed over there to play this season. can you post his current stats if you found them?
