As a former Offensive lineman, the excuses and passes are pretty sad. We were expected to perform starting Day 1, regardless of age. You were recruited to play this level for a reason. If you can't win the game yourself, just don't cost the team the game. That simple. If your over matched, focus on walling guys off, not moving them. The team goes where the OLine goes.

How does a D1 defensive football team not understand when the OLine let's you through free, it's for a reason. Thought that was a basic concept, obviously I thought wrong.

Got mussman defense with a bad offense. Not a good recipe for success. Reyes has had bad injury luck, I understand, but he seems to have lost a step, something we don't know or avoiding playing like years past to protect himself for post UND career. Hate judging toughness cause you never really know but his play this year just doesn't add up. He needs to be senior leader #1 and just haven't seen it.

Confirms my belief that the entire coaching staff needs to go. Incompetent.
Clock management is easy to do. No excuse for this.
We have a team that is undisciplined, an offensive coach who is clueless, and a head coach who seems to have no idea how to manage the clock. All of this should be significantly better regardless of the talent on the field.
Is this as bad as the Mussman regime? No but it is not a lot better. Just because it is better does not mean it is good enough.
At least with mussman we knew we were score a decent amount of points

That was some of the worst time management you could see, how does a senior do that. I understand a high school kid, but a 3 and half year college starter, that's beyond embarrassing

Unless something changes, think this game proves a change at offensive coordinator is needed.

Could install a 4-3, but to ask for much more then a very basic defense would be difficult and would be very predictable to play against

This seems like a sensible thing to do or at least consider. For those who have a better football mind than I do, how easy is it to transition to a new defense in one week? I have to imagine it isn't very easy to do.
4-3 defense isn't terribly difficult to learn at its basic level. OLBs are very important, especially when defending the pass. DL not letting olineman to the next level is make or break. If lineman get to the linebacker level on a regular basis, it's going to be a long day defensively. LBs need to be able to flow. Not difficult, but OLBs need to be assignment sharp.

Am thinking of going to the series against Miami in Ohio in February. Best way to get there is to fly into Cincy and rent a car? Is there anything to do outside of the game? Any good pre game pubs? Where to stay? Tickets easy to come by? Thanks.
Went last year. We drove. We drive to the road games we go to. Fun to see new things on the drive. Very fun college town. Not a whole lot extra to do besides check out the football stadium. Really helps if everyone is 21. Out of Omaha, st cloud, and Miami, Miami had the friendliest people and easiest town to walk everywhere. Mac & Joe's is place to eat. Have to use Google maps to find it as the entrance is an alley, but the food was great. Tickets were fairly easy to come by. Hotels on other hand are scarce as it's a small town. Stayed at comfort Inn, was nice hotel, nothing fancy, but nice people, rooms and good breakfast. Definitely will be going back in the future, very fun trip.

That game reminded me a lot of 04-05ish when UND lost at St Cloud and their running back ran wild and was frustrating to watch, hopefully get the result that followed up later in the year with a playoff win over them

While being a current student here at UND, I grew up attending every football game and most hockey games, always called them the Sioux. Right or wrong, (probably wrong), I will always call them the Sioux, just something that won't change for me. It's very obvious that the students who are from around North Dakota or Minnesota still call them the Sioux, while students not from around here call UND the Hawks. Either way, you are judged for what you say is the nickname you decide, but for me, it's how i was brought up, even being much more than just a hockey fan. I have called UND the Sioux for over 20 years, and that isn't going to change, but i understand why the name had to go. It is very frustrating but the name wont come back and people need to get that, but as long as they were a fan prior to 2012, I'm fine with people calling UND the Sioux. Just my observations on campus and what i believe, whether you like it or not.

No, i understand if a true freshman struggles. Even red shirt freshman, but after that, it's either not recruiting very well or just not performing. But to be positive, 2 conference losses looks like it could win the conference, anything is still possible, just need one win to get things going again. One difference I have realized is when the hockey team gets embarrassed, the next game is always a must watch because they come out wanting to make up for the embarrassment. Thought I would see the same thing today, and didn't.
