A response that I got from the UND Athletic Department regarding the Saturday game. Hi Steve- Kyle Doperalski (kyle.doperalski@athletics.und.edu) is the best person to answer your questions from our office. I will say, though, that Midco is very aware and working hard to add road games to the schedule. This year they’ve worked out partnerships for UND men’s hockey games at SCSU, Minnesota Duluth, Western Michigan and Omaha. ROOT Sports is a bit different. As it is owned by DirecTV, they obviously want you to switch to satellite, or have cable companies pick up their channels full time. Hope this info helps. Have a good day. Matt

NCHC TV states that both the Friday & Saturday games are "Unavailable." So, she is mistaken.

Below is the response I got from Midco today. She also incorrectly stated that they will be on NCHC TV. I did respond to her with that correction, as well as letting her know that as soon as a deal is struck (whenever that may be in the future) that home games are shown on a national network or something from a Satellite provider Midco would be dropped like a bad habit in my household. I know at least a dozen people with that sentiment. I wrote an email to Midco to "encourage them" to possibly pick up the feed. Probably won't help, but it is worth a try. Maybe I will send something to the Athletic Department as well. Good Morning, I am writing to request that you pick up the feed for the UND men's hockey game on February13, 2016. The game is being played in Denver and is being broadcast on Root Sports RM (Rocky Mountain). On SiouxSports.com there are many people inquiring if Midco will be picking up this game and providing it to its subscribers. Denver is probably UND's biggest rival and it would be nice to be able to get this game televised locally.

I agree with that. But it wouldn't hurt for UND's Athletic Department to push for it. If for any reason to see how bad Midco really wants to renew its contract. I like Midco's product for home games but we need a better option for away games. Having to subscribe to both Midco & DirectTV isn't an option for me.

It looks like the Denver games against UND are "Not Available" on NCHC TV. What a bunch of crap.

Does anyone know why the NCHC is doing both a 5 X 5 and a 3 X 3 overtime? Were they just experimenting with the 3 X 3 at this point? Also, the Sudden death shootout kind of threw me off this weekend. I guess I hadn't seen all aspects of overtime/shootout yet this season. I ask because to me it seems that two five minute overtime periods is kind of redundant. By the time the 3 X 3 started, it seems like both teams were so tired that it appeared they were skating in mud! The benefit of a 3 X 3 is a lot more open ice and speed. I didn't notice the speed. I thought the sudden death shootout was interesting too! I am not a big fan of a shootout in general, and sudden death just made it a bit more awkward! I guess if they were to change anything I would prefer that they eliminated the 5 X 5 overtime, and did a 3 X 3 overtime instead. Followed by a standard shootout if they had to keep the shootout.
