DIAA move yields better academic standing?

My hope is to remove the my school is better than your school arguement from the rest of the sports posts and let it ride here...Note, please utilize facts as opposed to your feelings when making your case. Examples would be recognized articles or studies as opposed to "I really feel we are better because its in Fargo vs Grand Forks, and vice-versa".

I don't think you're going to be able to make a correlation like that. I certainly don't believe it helps academics. The only benefit I see from athletics, is more recognition for a school nationally, which in turn might add a small amount of value to a students diploma (in terms of recognition of coming from a specific school with a reputation). It may also booster support from community/fans/alumni/donors in terms of donations. Other than that, I don't see to much else.
