the last sioux player draft review

TJ Oshie

"Oshie is a quick center with a nose for the net and does not shy away from the physical aspects of the game. He plays with great determination, is a creative passer, and very difficult one-on-one. Oshie, among other things, is known for his determination and coachability. He creates scoring chances whenever he touches the puck and loves to jump into the play and make things happen."

TJ Oshie is rated as 2nd on the Blue's Top Prospect chart on Hockeys Future.

2. (NR) T.J. Oshie, C Age: 18

Acquired: 1st round, 24th overall (2005)

With the 24th pick in the first round of the 2005 NHL entry draft, the St. Louis Blues made what many considered a surprise pick, taking Warroad high school center T.J. Oshie. Oshie

How about 4 spots about David Backes? Not a bad player for Kato.  ;) Might be a reach before he ever plays a college game, but hopefully he shows us why he is a #2 prospect for the Blues and a 1st round pick. :silly:

Not really a reach considering that Chucko had a mediocre year at best and moved up to #2 on Calgary's Top 20.

St Louis was interviewed quite a bit about the pick of Oshie and they said that it was their intention all along to draft TJ. They loved what he brought to the game. It is interesting that Cogliano was their second choice.

It seems like the younger guys who are drafted hightly get the benefit of the doubt vs. older players who may or may not ever get a shot. (Pohl, Senja, Roche, etc...)
