southpaw
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a copy of the NCC and NCAA rules for seating at basketball games. I'm one of the few students who sit directly behind the opposing teams bench and we were told we had to move because of an NCC rule that said the first 40 seats could only be sold to opposing team fans only. I was just hoping to clarify if that's true or if the UND athletic dept and the REA is trying to take away from non-swearing, Sioux cheering, student fans. SiouxMeNow
I've seen you there...with the showtime (?) sign right?? I think you should be there but maybe you're upsetting the old people who are grumbling about paying $2.50 for a coke!! The Betty is a great venue to watch a game but you can tell the Marilyn Hagerty crowd is pissy and won't cheer unless they HAVE TOO!! Kind of disapointing...and I don't know the league rules about you sitting behind the opponents bench although I don't recall any Sioux fans behind the opposing bench at the Hyslop(?) pentaxman46
For years the area behind the opposing bench at the Hyslop was called the "snake pit". UND students would get there early and trash talk the opposition coaches and players. During time outs the visiting team would have to take their chairs out toward the middle of the floor to get away from the "snake pit" verbal abuse. Some of the visiting teams enjoyed the pit fans creativity, others must not have because the last few years at the Hyslop Sioux fans were not allowed behind the opposition bench. Bisonfan01234
It could simply be a school rule too. They can make up whatever rules they want.
doclenz
It is a NCC rule that has been in place about six years or more. Some places give the first three or four rows behind the opposition bench. Gives the enemy a little breathing room.
