Let'sGoHawks! Posted August 9, 2004 Posted August 9, 2004 From the New Jersey Devils webpage: Q: You and David Hale were once opponents in college. How has your friendship changed since playing together for Team USA (in the 2001 World Junior Championships) and now with the Devils? Do you think you will ever become a defensive tandem? Kristi-Bayonne, NJ A: For the most part, I don't think my friendship with David has changed at all. Now we are just on the same team. I've always been friends with David. We played in the World Championships and we had a great experience there. The next season we came back to college and had a competitive rivalry. North Dakota was probably our biggest rival in the conference. You respect your opponent, and you always play hard. I remember running into him a few times on the ice at North Dakota and not feeling too good, but you get up and you shake it off. You play hard on the ice, and then off the ice, it's different with the guys. I'm not sure if we'll ever play together as a defensive pair. You never know. David and I do play well together. We played together a couple times this year. Our style of play complements each other well. He's more of the physical guy, the banger, and I take a few more chances with the puck. I've enjoyed playing with David in the past, but it's not up to us. The coaches will make that decision. Quote
dakotadan Posted August 11, 2004 Posted August 11, 2004 If you asked most Minnesota fans who their biggest rival was in hockey I am sure that most would say Wisconsin. But if you asked people who are actual gopher hockey fans, I would think alot would say UND. Especially after these last couple of years. I have never been to a wcha game outside of the ralph or xcel center so I don't know what the atmosphere is like at gopher games. It is good to see these guys getting some exposure though! Quote

I'd pretty much agree with you an this. Our tradition rival has been Bucky, but since Bucky has been SUCKY as of late....UND has become a pretty good rival since Blais took over and made it a good team to play. WPoS Quote
