Did there used to be a Minnesota A&M?

Was there ever a Minnesota A&M?  The campus was the supposedly in St Paul campus the Uof M near the fairgrounds.  Only saw a reference to it from this source.  It used to be what Texas A&M is now to Texas but supposedly combining the two saved money or something.  U of M is much bigger than most Big Ten schools even and is both a flagship and a land grant.
