dickgraham
I tried to e-mail Bruce Mcleod but it wouldn't go through. I then went to the WCHA web site to get a "contact us" address....no such thing. The Fox e address I had goes to the national site. Anyway, you can be very sure that if the Goofers were playing the Friday afternoon game it would be telecasst. Why the Thursday play in game is being telecast and not the 1st semi-final game Friday afternoon is beyond me. The Fox Sports North schedule that day is not of the earth shaking ilk so that there appears to be no reason that game is not on the air. B Mcleod and the WCHA should be raising holy h--l over this. Let's face facts, we are fighting the Big Goofer Monopoly and are in a no win situation. At least we have Tim Hennesey's radio play by play. We can onlly hope the Sioux kick the living crap out of every team they play this weekend, that might make me feel just a tad better. PCM
There was a teleconference this morning and Bruce McLeod said there is a possibility that the Sioux game will be on TV Friday. Bruce said he would know for sure this afternoon. Bruce has negotiated a league TV deal with UND? That was mighty nice of him.
iceberg
Yes - why not? For charging the highest ticket price around - they owe it to the fans that pay to attend the home games to try to get the road games on air. This statement above proves you have no clue. if UND wanted to show all the away games, they would have to have a full crew go to the away site, as most of the teams have a part-time TV deal. If someone is showing the game locally, then they could tap into the feed (ala the UMD series in Duluth...well at least Saturday's). But for the most part, they would have to send their own camera crew, production crew, & truck to beam it back to GF...and I don't think WDAZ wants to lose that much money. Think about it UAA has 4 games on TV..and thats when they play UAF..so no WCHA games CC has all Saturday games on cable Denver has some games on FSN Midwest (1/2 dozen or so) Wisconsin has some games on FSN (mostly home games) MN....well, you know that story UMD...12 games on local TV (WDIO)..All were Saturday, except for MN and ND (and ND was a last minute thing) UND...FSSN for home games MSU..Home games on cable..some road on Victory SCSU..some on Victory Mich Tech...none on TV So using my theory above, you're looking at 14 road games. Lets hypothetically eliminate UAA & MTU from the road schedule...your looking at probably 8 or 9 max that they could tap into the feed. (if its possible) That would leave 5 or 6 games that they would need a full crew. And I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon. jojordan23
Here's one for all you conspiracy theorists... When was the FSN TV schedule decided? Everyone keeps asking why the Thursday night game is being televised and why the Friday afternoon game is not, but no one seems to have noticed that up until this past weekend, here's what the Final Five game schedule would look like... Thurs: UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA vs. Denver University. Fri Afternoon: University of MN-Duluth vs. University of Wisconsin Fri Night (MN rule consideration) - UND vs. either UNIVERSERSITY OF MINNESOTA or Denver Sat Afternoon: Possible MN vs. either Duluth or Wisconsin. Sat Night : Possible MN vs. either Duluth or Wisconsin. Now, you guys have all been talking about conspiracy's and the "Minnesota Rule", but everybody keeps asking "Why not the Friday afternoon game?" Here is the answer: BECAUSE BY THE SEEDINGS OF THE TOURNEY, MN WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PLAYING IN THE FRIDAY AFTERNOON GAME, AND IF SOME UPSETS TOOK PLACE(which did), THEY COULD INVOKE THE MN RULE AND JUST SWITCH THE GOPHER GAME TO FRIDAY NIGHT!!! It's all about the $$$ and sense, and FSN made sure that they had TV coverage for every possible Gopher playing time... Heck, had the Goph's gotten beat by JBSU, they might have just scrapped all the TV coverage of the Final Five...
PCM
For the record, I never thought it was a conspiracy. I thought it was a stupid decision.
SiouxTupa
Personally, I think it's stupid to televise the 3rd place game instead of a semifinal. The reasoning behind this is to give a possible gopher game airtime, but I still think, if anything, that should be the scrapped game. Who cares what I think anyway!? No money to get down to the cities, and now the game is probably not going to be on TV! I'm in sorry form.
siouxnami
No money to get down to the cities, and now the game is probably not going to be on TV! I'm in sorry form. Sure, like you need 2 kidneys. $$$$ Get your priorities in order.
SiouxTupa
Sure, like you need 2 kidneys. $$$$ Get your priorities in order. Good point, but I don't think I even have enough money to drive to Fargo. *At least not till I get paid on Friday. No way I'd make it down for a 2:08 faceoff... All right I'm going to make it work!! *Maybe, but not the kidney thing
jojordan23
For the record, I never thought it was a conspiracy. I thought it was a stupid decision. Pat, my vote was for both... it was a stupid decision to take part in a Gopher conspiracy
