CoteauRinkRat
I don't think you will see the men's appear on that ranking all year.
Hansel
the women's region appears pretty stacked, although I think there may be a drop-off after the top six... do six or eight teams make the regional?

Eight teams make the regional. No more bye's in the first round for the top two seeds.
Corella
How the heck are UNO and Mankato not ranked ahead of SDSU. I can see the Bison not above them yet, but to me that is pretty ridiculous-similar record, 2 games on top in the conference race, NOT having a 3 game losing streak. Really weird. I half expected to see USD ranked too despite their long NCC losing streak which now stands at nine. Has Boots lost it? They returned virtually their entire team and were picked high in the national polls, but they are really struggling. If the NCAA hadn't gifted King another semester of eligibility, they would be even worse.
teamsioux
The rankings are based on a point system, there is no human evaluations until the final poll.

Hansel
Didn't know that. teamsioux
For the final poll the NCAA says it uses these five criteria, in no specific order of course. -won-lost record -head to head competition -ssi -common opponents results -D2 w-l record within region
Corella
So the regional rankings are pretty much a regional RPI. It brings up the question, if the NCAA uses this forumla to create the regional rankings, why not do away with the D2 top 25 poll and put out a top 25 using the same formula. The 2 different "polls" have to contracict themselves in their rankings. It is the NCAA, though, so it the obvious and simple way out cannot be taken.
