choyt3 Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/212664 Metal? Really? Writer of this must be pretty young. Almost 300 people in the crowd swayed with the music and sang along in honor of the musician. Were there only 300 people there? Quote

FS4evr Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 The bands were brought in to celebrate KJ108s 25th year of radio in GF, I don't think REA had much to do with bringing them here, they were just the venue. As for quality acts Skid Row and Warrant are great rock bands. In the past three weeks I have seen Night Ranger, Foreigner, Journey, Interpol, and U2 (with 62,000 fans in the rain) and the bands at the Betty last night easily held there own as great rock bands. Even though the crowd was small they played full sets with a great mix of old hits and songs from their new albums. To top it off Warrant performed even though their former lead singer, song writer, and very close friend Jani Lane had died on Thursday. Not many bands would have done that, and most quality acts would have canceled. If you weren't at the BESC last night you missed out on a great rock show and a special tribute to a rock artist we lost on Thursday. Quote

I'm not going to bash these guys for trying to make a living but 300 people is hardly a cord. By the way, I saw U2 in Nashville last month and it was easily the best show I have ever seen in my life, to compare U2 to Warrant and Skid Row is beyond ridiculous. Quote

FS4evr Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 U2 is arguably one of the top 20 greatest bands of all time and I did not mean to directly compare Skid Row or Warrant to U2. I was trying to make to make the point that these bands came out and played like they would have had there been a full house. When I saw U2 in MSP they played through a driving rain storm. Everyone got soaked but they didn't shorten their set, they didn't walk off stage until the rain quit, they kept on playing. Skid Row and Warrant could have shortened up their sets because of the small crowd size (and Jani Lane's death) but they didn't. They were completely professional and rocked the Betty. So maybe on the some level of being a professional rock band it would be fair to compare these bands to U2. The show must go on and it did for both concerts and it was cool. Quote
