82SiouxGuy Posted October 16, 2008 Share Posted October 16, 2008 I am pretty sure that the Grand Forks Herald came up with the idea of naming the blizzards and then did the honors. The idea was that they name hurricanes so why not name blizzards. Both are significant weather events that can affect a large area.
