  1. Hello,

I think the concerns of this being a trap game and the worries over past performances against poor teams are not warranted. Bubba is great and deserves all the credit he is given but I think Studsrud is being overlooked. His presence is as important as anybody.

He is 12-3 in his last 15 games. His 3 losses are to NDSU, Bowling Green, and Stony Brook. (somebody please confirm my numbers)

As long as he is our QB I have no concerns against lesser teams. The defense it top notch and the OLine appears to be on the upswing.

I'm expecting a long winning streak and I plan to enjoy it.

  2. I paid almost $30k for my degree because I am unatheltic, Studsrud is getting a full ride because he has talent. This team can be so good but I am not a jerk because I am calling out a player. I can't be the only that can see that our QB is holding us back.

The QB play is no worse than the O-line play as well as the WR play in my opinion. I don't think I'm a great football mind so please don't take me the wrong way. Of the 2 other Big Sky QBs we have seen, who would we rather want to have?

  3. Studsrud has won because the defense has been absolutely dominant. I can't believe that anyone here thinks he has won because of the QB play, he may be a great runner, but I have seen highschool QB's be more efficient at throwing the football.

Nobody said we won because of him. I have seen Studsrud play better than a Big 10 QB, doesn't make sense to compare like that. It appears to me he's the best we have right now. I trust Bubba.

  4. it was quintuple coverage.  I was watching with the Cogswell Cannon.  As bad as the play call was, and it was bad given the success we were having just pounding it, it was a worse decision by Studsrud.  The Cannon said Hedberg always reminded him when calling plays like that, saying if it's not there don't force it.  Our staff must have told Studsrud that 20 times this week, and he will hear it all this next week, too.

Honest question:   Do we win this game with a different QB? I don't think we do.

Other than the interception I would say Studsrud did very well.

  5. I have never been called a "pie in the sky" guy but I don't understand all the negativity.

    I was at the game:

The host team was very cordial. No problems at all.

I heard some tickets being had for between $85 and $100 in the parking lot before the game.

I could sense the puckering in the 1st quarter and it was a lot of fun.

The defense played well. Yes, 34 points but the lack of UND offensive plays and short fields for NDSU should be factored in. I know NDSU throttled it down in the 4th quarter but I was not disappointed with our defense.

QB, Studsrud did as well or better than any other alternative would have done today.

Nobody would expect the UND O line to control the NDSU D line in ideal conditions. The noise was a huge factor in the offenses inability to move the ball. That factor made a tough task next to impossible. The UND scoring drive happened when the Fargo Dome was not making the noise it had earlier and Keaton was able to work from the shotgun and communicate with his team. After that drive the crowd went back to making noise.

In my opinion, if this game is played at a neutral site nobody would be embarrassed right now.

The 2nd half of the Drake game was much worse.

  6. Lets have it

Did this chart come from somebody within the football administration or is it Miller's best guess? Anybody know for sure? I wouldn't be surprised if some on the 2 deep don't even make the trip to Wyo.

  7. I mentioned him after he played in the all-star game last summer. He played both guard positions and handled to two big kids going to the Ag school. He is only about 5' 10" but who gives a rip. The only place that makes a difference is the game program, the media and blogs. This kid can play.

He is 6' and half an inch. I bet my hands on it.

  8. Having an athlete like Iverson at FB is a nice wildcard to have. He had the best catch of the year against UNC last season. He's also a damn monster.

I'm also very interested to see how our TEs end up. I hope Ruhe can get back to full speed as he looked like a nice asset as only a FR. Throw in Adler Matheson and the fr from Florida and we have nice pass catchers and blockers with length.

Has anybody else heard that Iverson might be out for the beginning of the season?

  9. My take on the O-line. Meehan at RT. Anderson at LG. Stockwell at LT If he is healed from his hernia by the start of the season. If not then Cox at LT. Everything else is up for grabs.

This O-line will not resemble last years. Unfortunately there are some health issues that will effect some would be impact players. Knauf is the real deal, a lot of respect.

  10. Our suspended "source," gfhockey, asked that I "alert the boys on the football forum."

      "More trouble for playas."

I'm just passing this along for him.  I have no other information.

Without giving details what did GF Hockey to be suspended? As a relatively new poster to this forum I should know what's off limits.

  11. My kid is but I'd rather have you talk to the strength people. Not to be an ass but 1 of the 3 you listed is clearly the weakest on the team. It seems that some of the posters on this site have some inside knowledge. Is that true or is everybody just doing their best guess? I always have respected Geaux Siouxs input.

  12. Cox isn't setting the bar for the o-line, neither is Francis as somebody mentioned earlier. I think Francis is still on the mend from his knee surgery anyway.

On another note, now that we know what happened with Phillip Nelson has anybody changed their mind on how he would fit in at UND?

I can see a lot good people doing exactly what he did.

  13. Punk

He told Bubba he wasn't sure if he wanted to stay at UND midway through the season so Bubba showed him the door.  Then Ferguson made a fool of himself on twitter.

Thought he got homesick and wanted to go home and become a police officer. He is a good kid.

  14. At one point Jake Francis was #1 on the depth chart at center. I wonder if he is any better at snapping than Boas. CCan certainly can't be worse......

I think Bubba and staff are trying to preserve 4 full seasons for Francis.

IMO there will be 3 Freshman that see the field next year. The future looks good.
