Big combination of New England's O-line being brutal and Denver's D-line being awesome. Brady had guys in his face all day long. A lot of people will question the decision to go for it on 4th down, but at the time it was a good decision. Denver's defense was much better than New England's offense and you couldn't expect them to drive down the field again.
Obviously not the result I wanted but hopefully Manning will be able to go out on top now.

Poganski is really playing big.
Surely you didn't think the team would never have off nights. The Circus had lost 6 games at this point in the schedule in 1987. The boys had a soft 1/2 schedule and have a long way to go, but they have been extremely consistent
It's funny. Our three ties and one of our three losses are against bad teams. That's obviously not good but at the same time that means we have been taking care of business against the better teams on our schedule. It's encouraging and discouraging at the same time.

Watching on TV the major on Ausmus didn't even look like a penalty to me. Maybe there was head contact.

Omaha fans on twitter wondering what is going on... maybe Omaha isn't as good as every Omaha fan thinks they are.
And exactly as good as I thought they were.

Huge save by Cam right before that goal as well. Easily could have been 2-1 but instead it is 3-0

Janatuinen is out with an illness. I've really liked what he has given us so far this year but I think Gornall will go all out since this is likely going to be one of his only playing opportunities. The biggest problem last night was taking the foot off of the pedal. That shouldn't be a problem for Gornall.

In 1988 While UND was playing in the GLI. They led Michigan 5-1 and lost the game 6-5 in OT
Do you know when the last time it happened in Grand Forks was? I quickly looked through all of our games with box scores on USCHO and didn't find any home games where we blew a 4 goal lead. Their schedules go back to the 98-99 season. We did blow a 5-1 lead in Alaska in 2010, but that game ended in a 5-5 tie.

Duluth loses again while outshooting their opponent badly. They are now 5-5-4 when outshooting their opponent by 10+ shots. Quite a few of those games they outshot their opponent by closer to 20 shots.

Because Thompson's mistakes were the most glaring and one was costly.
I thought LaDue also had a tough time as well out there.
Ausmus had a pretty brutal mistake as well. I think he got bailed out but I remember clearly thinking WTF Ausmus. Thompson's mistakes just lead directly to goals or should have been goals. I never noticed Shaw so that's not a bad thing for a defenseman. Poolman was good. Stecher is unbelievable. Nothing else ever needs to be said about him.

How do you figure?
They have the more favorable remaining schedule and the top of the standings is pretty much a tie right now. We both have Omaha, Duluth, and WMU remaining on the schedule. Their other series are at CC and Miami and ours are at Denver and WMU. Not a strong favorite but the favorite nonetheless. No one besides, SCSU and us, has a realistic shot at this point.

LOL! Never heard so much positive-speak after a blown 4-0 lead against a bottom feeder. Oh, if only Dave Hakstol was still around!
I'm really angry tonight. It might not be a burn the Ralph to the ground response tonight because for some reason the free throw contest win feels like a win. Less bitter aftertaste. Still it is absolutely pathetic that it got to that point. The guys showed us in the first period how much better they are than CC. Hopefully we get that performance the whole game tomorrow. I'm sure the players feel like they let that get away from them and played like they had already won the game in the first period. I thought we had won the game in the first period since like Goon said earlier; we haven't blown a 4 goal lead at home since the 80's.
You're probably right though. It would be a lot worse on here if Hak was still around.

Denver has clawed back from a 2-0 deficit to lead Duluth 3-2 late in the third. Duluth has to be the biggest disappointment in the conference. High expectations have not been met thus far.
And they are badly outshooting their opponent again. They seem to have 40+ shots in every game but never score more than 2 or 3 goals. They either have terrible puck luck, terrible shooters, or they are attempting a lot of terrible shots.

If Tomek doesn't play tomorrow or next week, I don't see him starting a game this year which seems very odd. Maybe the injury is just lingering and he's not ready yet. Hrynkiw has been as good as we could have hoped for this year, but it just seems off to me that he is playing over Tomek. What do I know though? I completely trust Berry and whatever reason he has is a good enough reason for me.

Thompson should sit tomorrow. He's had some bad games before but not like this. Johnson also was very off. Give them both the night off.
On a positive note how much did Sanderson add tonight? He seemed to be a factor all night long and out worked every CC player to prime spots.
When people say Johnson my first thought is always Luke. I was confused because he played as well as I've ever seen him tonight. But yeah, Cam had a rough night. Seems to be a very hot and cold goalie. Terrible against LSSU to start the season, then gets super hot for 8 games or so, and then back to the goalie I was nervous about coming into the season. Hopefully we get December Cam in March and April

Ortega and Guentzel factored into their only goal too. If people think we are a one line team, they should watch Omaha some more. No tears shed by me after watching them the last two years. I used to pull for them when we weren't playing them because of Blais. Now, after a few years in the NCHC, I absolutely hate them. They are the Southern Gophers. Definitely the team I dislike the most in the new conference and it will be a blast to cheer against them in the future.

Well, you've got two other goalies who have both performed very well in the first half of the season, even excellent. So Tomek is going to have to earn his way on to the ice, IMO
How do you earn your way on if you don't get to play? If he is healthy, Johnson made a solid argument tonight for Tomek playing tomorrow. Once Hrynkiw warmed up he looked solid. Saved us in overtime and at the end of the 3rd. Started slow.

Omaha gunning for a road series in the NCHC playoffs.
SCSU takes care of business and has to be the favorite for the Penne Rosa at this point

We haven't blown a 4 goal lead at home since before the 98-99 season. USCHO schedules doesn't go further back than that.

Last time we even lost a game where we scored 4 goals was February 22, 2013 when we lost 5-4 against Denver.

I don't know why but the CHN app has the conference record for WMU wrong. They only have 1 conference tie and only 14 points. I keep expecting them to fix it but its been like this for at least three weeks now.
